Let me briefly cover the warm part first. You have no idea (or maybe you do) what it means for a writer to have an audience like this. Like you. People who want to read. Who show up. Who hang in there over time.

The word “appreciate” doesn’t begin to explain it. I salute and thank you. You’re like—very much like—an old friend—who comes to the house one day out of nowhere. VERY GLAD TO SEE YOU.

That’s prime number one. What follows is a longer explanation of the second thing.

On this podcast, I’ll be talking about why I keep writing at age 84, why I never fell for opportunities to write for the mainstream, why I stayed independent for the past 40 years, why I’ve been writing every day online for the past 22 years, and what it means to STAY INDEPENDENT.

Part of what’s happening in this culture is the silencing of independent voices. The voices who aren’t going along with the show, with the people in control.

Even in so-called alternative media today, there are rules. There are subjects writers aren’t supposed to touch. Why? Because the publishers are afraid of losing their audiences.

They’re CALCULATING how far they can go. They’re profiling their audiences and considering the topics that will fly and those that won’t.

They’re worried about pushback.

They’ve built a certain piece of turf and they want to protect it.

And this doesn’t just go for the permitted SUBJECTS of writing. It also goes for the permitted STYLES of writing.

“We can’t publish this piece. Our readers will object. They’ll be offended.”

Yeah, I understand that. I’ve been ignoring it for a long time.

For decades, I’ve been building my own outpost, my own island, my own media operation, my own independent place, come what may.

Because it was necessary, if I was going to keep writing, and keep writing the way I wanted to.

And along the way, I’ve been encouraging other writers to do the same.

ACTUAL writers are strange. They don’t go along to get along. Far worse, they’re always probing to find new ways of writing. They don’t stay the same. They HAVE TO keep looking for THE NEW. Otherwise, they’ll bore themselves to death.

That’s not a curse. It’s not some kind of victim back-story. It’s the plain truth.

This search for something new, something More, gives readers a different and unique experience. It may or may not be the kind of experience some readers want.

But the writer isn’t pandering to an audience.

I’m not cultivating you. I’m not tending to you like a garden. I’m not figuring all the possible angles when I write a piece. I’m not asking myself whether you’ll accept what I’m saying or the way I’m saying it.

If I were doing that, if that was the road I’d been walking all this time, I would have cut out long ago and gone to work for a major newspaper and worked my way up the line. By now I’d be a standard asshole who retired. I’d be seeing my doctor for various conditions. I’d be reminiscing with friends about days of yore and clucking about how odd the current culture is.

I never was on that road.

And when the road I HAD chosen became too predictable, I started a new one.

This one, here on substack, is a new one.

As I say, your support for my work is much appreciated. But I’m not tailoring my work to get that support. I’m not fishing in that water.

If you support what I’m doing, it’s because you want to. Which makes it all the better.

I’m at war with this culture. On all sorts of levels. I could mask that, hide it, pretend I’m doing something else, try to make things more comfortable, try to sound like a NY Times reporter who just happens to be covering subjects in a different way. I could be sober and self-contained and palatable.

But then I wouldn’t be WRITING. Not in my own eyes.

See, this is what I mean by INDEPENDENT. People use that word, but is it what they really want? Or do they want a pale shadow of it?

A long time ago, I wrote something like this: People want to make magic, but otherwise they want to stay exactly the same in their lives, but that’s impossible.

So I take the word INDEPENDENT very seriously. I keep taking it further.

When I read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, I see INDEPENDENT and UNIQUE and INDIVIDUAL in extreme ways. As THEY WERE MEANT.

A culture is supposed to contain MANY, MANY individuals who are very different from each other. The culture is not supposed to embody freedom while at the same everybody embodies the same basic attitudes. That’s a fantasy. That isn’t freedom. That’s lip service. That’s fear of people who are genuinely different.

This culture is based on fear.

As I’ve been saying for many years, REALITY IS A CON.

It’s built to suck people in.

To give them all the same spiritual haircut.

Part of my decision to become a writer was based on my refusal to take the haircut. No matter what.

Exit From The Matrix: When the Individual Creates

Consider this notion: “Nothing new is really created. The person is remembering something, or he is building on prior knowledge by adding a next ‘logical’ step in a long historical process.”

Why make these assertions?

Because if a person were actually creating something new, where did it come from? It couldn’t come from “nowhere.” It must have already been “there,” in some sense.

That may be the majority opinion, but NO, that’s not the case. A PERSON CAN AND DOES CREATE SOMETHING NEW. IT COMES FROM HIM, FROM HIS IMAGINATION.

And imagination is not a thing. It isn’t a gland or an organ or a section of wiring in the brain. It’s not made of matter. It’s a quality, a non-material quality. So in that sense, yes, an individual DOES create from nothing.

Remembering and adding a step to established prior knowledge may well be part of the process of creating in some cases, but in EVERY case there is a NEWNESS that occurs, that is invented. It cannot be explained by claiming it was “already there.”

This irritates scientists and materialists to the nth degree. So they ignore it. They pretend they understand everything about imagination. They don’t have a clue.

In fact, the deeper you explore the concept of freedom, the more you realize that creating something new, and creating that occurs outside a tight chain of prior cause and effect, are very much a part of what freedom means. Understanding these factors should be liberating.

There are several other phenomena that are closely related to “creating from nothing.” They are spontaneous insight and spontaneous invention. They occur in a flash, in the moment. They can’t be reduced to “logical implications in a chain of cause and effect.” They can’t be reduced at all.

And then there is this—I’ll refer to it through an experience I had in 1963, when I was living and painting in a small studio in Los Angeles. One night I was sitting at my table staring at a blank sheet of paper. I had a pencil in my hand. Suddenly, my mind was empty and crystalline. I knew in my bones, as clearly as I knew I was sitting there, that I had unlimited choices. There was no boundary on what I could draw. I was ecstatic. I made a shape on the paper. The immediate novelty of it was overwhelmingly joyous. I kept making shapes on the paper. The emerging drawing held, for me, the core of what I needed to know about life: every moment could be marvelously unhindered and free. I was always on the cusp of being able to choose a future; and being in that position, in the moment, was an experience of unrivaled beauty. Never again would I think of freedom in a dry clinical way.

The Monolith: How I put together The Matrix Revealed

In 1987, when I was researching my book, AIDS INC., I took a side road. It was prompted by a conversation I had with Jack True. He was telling me about experiences he’d had with his patients under hypnosis.

“Some patients present with a monolith,” he said. “They come across a symbol that is there in the subconscious. Sometimes it looks like a closed door. Sometimes it shows up as a blank wall. Sometimes it’s a geometric shape. One patient actually called it a ‘brick sky.’

“But in every case, it locked up the patient’s ability to recall or explore under hypnosis. It was like a giant obstruction on a road. However, these patients could describe something about the nature of the symbol. In every case, they said it was broadcasting a message: ‘THIS IS REALITY.’

“The patients were in awe of the symbol. It had a deep emotional effect on them. It was as if many different realities had come together to form this single mass, like separate pieces clicking into place.”

Jack went further. He stated that the symbol induced a profound passivity in his patients, as if they’d come upon a force greater than anything they could overcome.

Jack subsequently devised strategies to take apart the mass, the symbol, so that these patients could rid themselves of their passivity and access huge amounts of previously blocked energies.

Well, I was blown away, because my research on my book had followed a parallel course. I’ll explain.

The AIDS cover story that had been invented by medical researchers was all about One Reality, one disease condition caused by one virus, one description about how the infection destroyed the immune system, one label, one symbol for the condition: “AIDS”.

When, in fact, that was “the obstruction on the road” which was blocking further investigation. In fact, the whole “Oneness” myth was a lie. A gigantic lie.

A very, very convincing lie. An awesome lie.

The truth was, so-called AIDS was many different conditions (realities) which had been falsely welded together, through massive propaganda.

That was the key to unlocking the puzzle. And it was the key for me to move into new territory with new energy and confidence.

I’d been stalled at the wall, but now I could advance.

The awesome symbol, “AIDS,” had been shattered to pieces.

Since the publication of my book, I’ve of course investigated a number of other subjects, and in each case, there was a symbol, a monolith, an obstruction, and in every case I’ve taken the monolith apart to discover that it’s hiding a plurality of scandals and crimes and deceptions.

The One concealing The Many.

These monoliths are very, very effective because—and this is vitally important to understand—they mirror the tendency of the subconscious mind to fall to its knees before A Single Symbol, a Monolith.

People gravitate to single causes, single explanations, single symbols in every area of life, and they don’t penetrate further.

This is an aspect of the Matrix.

False unities are the meat and potatoes of very high-level propaganda. They are launched in politics, economics, organized religion, science, psychology, the military, mind control, in all the academic disciplines.

As an analogy, consider a painting in which the three-dimensional perspective has been radically shortened to eliminate the background. But the background is really where all the action is. The foreground is the false Oneness.

Grasping all of this allowed me to go further than I thought possible in putting together The Matrix Revealed. My method of investigation altered radically, and I hit paydirt.

The Matrix is a multi-layered, multi-dimensional operation, seeded with delusions that collaborate with the subconscious tendency to buy those delusions.

Your freedom and full power emerge when the subconscious is made conscious.

“The Chinese virus is spreading”—deception and false news

Most people are accepting the news that the Chinese coronavirus is spreading across China and the world. They don’t understand ground-level facts.

First of all, in every so-called epidemic, diagnoses of patients are eventually made by simple observation. The patient has typical flu symptoms? Fever, cough, fatigue, weakness, respiratory problems? He lives or works in an area where the epidemic has been reported? Boom, tell the patient he has the epidemic disease. Obviously, this is absurd. But it happens. And then you hear or read, “Today, three more people were found to be infected with the virus in (insert name of city).”

If a patient is actually tested, before a diagnosis is made, the most prevalent method is the antibody test. It’s fast. But there is a problem—a major problem. A positive test means the patient’s immune system has come in contact with the virus. Before 1984, this was generally interpreted as a good sign for the patient: his immune system responded well and defeated the virus. But then the science was turned upside down. Suddenly, a positive test meant the patient had a disease. Therefore, huge numbers of people were falsely told they were in danger. During times of hysteria, they became “new cases” of some purported epidemic. They were cited on the news to bolster the idea that the “the virus was spreading.” One more point: antibody tests are known to cross-react. This means: some irrelevant fact about the patient makes the test falsely read “positive for a virus.” He drank wine the night before the test. He has a cold. Etc.

In very few cases, a patient might be tested with a method called PCR. In simple terms, this test takes a tissue sample from the patient—a tiny, tiny piece of something that might be a virus…but it’s much too small to be observed and identified. To overcome this problem, the PCR test amplifies that tiny fragment many, many times—like blowing up a photograph. If the test overcomes several challenges and is done correctly, researchers and doctors might be able to infer that the patient has the virus. BUT the test would reveal nothing about HOW MUCH of the virus he has. And why is that important? Because two or three little particles of virus floating around in the patient’s body mean nothing. In order to cause disease, there would have to be millions and millions of a virus in the patient’s body. However, that obvious fact is ignored. A patient with a positive PCR test is added to the list of epidemic cases—and the news reports, “Today, four more infected people were found in Alaska, leading experts to state the epidemic is spreading unchecked across the world…”

As you can see, these major blunders and false interpretations will result in news about “the spreading epidemic.”

I should also mention low-level security personnel, police, and soldiers, in airports and other transportation centers, waving wands at people to see if their temperature is elevated—signifying they might be “carrying the virus.” These “tests” are about as reliable as randomly pointing to a figure in a photo of a crowd and saying, “He was the one who just robbed the bank, arrest him.”

Referring to Wuhan, called the center of the epidemic in China, photos of people jamming hospital waiting rooms are cited as “evidence” of the spreading virus and epidemic. This is preposterous. Many of these people, experiencing a few typical flu symptoms, have been brainwashed by public announcements into believing they have the “epidemic virus.” And then, Wuhan has highly dangerous levels of air pollution. Wuhan is notorious for polluting smog. Last summer, thousands of people in the city showed up on the streets protesting the air quality and a newly planned waste incinerator they believed would cause even more harmful smog. This pollution causes lung problems—cited as a symptom of the “coronavirus epidemic.”

Keep these issues in mind when people automatically claim “the virus and the epidemic are spreading.”

I’m going to explain what happened to the idea of PEACE.

I’ll trace the death of PEACE and how THAT happened.

Because, make no mistake about it, among all the self-serving motives and political maneuvering, there WERE once millions of people in America who genuinely wanted peace over war.

“Oh yes, I vaguely remember that…”

Why aren’t we seeing massive protests against US involvement in the Ukraine now? Very few people are even asking that question, and fewer still are providing answers.

If you don’t think the PEACE question is important, notice that we have war hawks all over the place who are quite willing to walk up to the brink of nuclear annihilation these days.

The answers I’m going to provide in this podcast explain why I’m on substack writing about CULTURE. The lunatic changes and reversals that have been happening in the culture account for WAR NOT PEACE.

Culture is where the action is. That’s where the action has been for the past 60 years. It changes minds. It dissolves minds.

And yes, for those of you who want dots to connect, there are dots. Key names, places, groups.

And yes, the war IS a gateway to further economic destruction, the precursor to a Globalist takeover of nations. I’ll also comment on that.

But the main event, which has become virtually invisible in society today, is the much-maligned desire for peace. That desire has been made so radioactive in this culture, you would think a blanket protest against needless dead bodies on battlefields is a sign of mental illness, if not treason.

Well, that’s what you’re supposed to think.

I’m going to challenge all the “reasoning” which has brought us to this point.

Which has convinced millions of people to now accept roles as walking talking lunatics.

One section of my third mega-collection, Power Outside The Matrix, is an eight-and-a-half hour audio presentation, The Writer’s Tutorial.

It is a tutorial, in the sense that I give many specific advices to writers and people who want to be writers. But it goes a lot farther than that.

It’s about a core of imagination and power. That “inner place” is the wellspring from which a whole life can be lived. It’s language as energy.

The discovery of hidden energy, the invention of energy, worlds in the making—this is what the writer is involved with.

Many writer’s seminars urge students to “write about what they know.” That’s just one approach. Writing about what you don’t know is another avenue. What you don’t know, for a journalist, means research. For a novelist, poet, playwright, it means invention, it means knowing in a very different sense.

It means imagination. It means the desire to build new worlds.

I can mark great changes in my life by writers I’ve read. Writers give us confidence that our dreams and visions are real, more than real. Writers rescue us from the ordinary.

They even whisper in our ears, “You can do this, too.”

In my tutorial, I move from the large overarching theme of what being a writer is all about, to specific clues about how to write, how to make feelings and ideas operate on the page.

Whether you’re aiming for poetry, fiction, journalism, or simply reports at work, I’ve brought everything I can to the table.

I leave the matter of getting published to the professional magazines. In this tutorial, I speak to people who want more. More of a Voice that can move them and their readers to new heights.

Being a writer is, in part, about being a riverboat gambler—shoving in all your chips on your inner resources.

For a writer, or for anyone who wants to live a creative life, those resources turn out to be endless. Finally, we are talking about a capacity to imagine, a capacity that has no limit.

The overused word “spiritual” really does apply here, because it is through imagination and invention that a person eventually discovers answers to the great questions of life. Those answers are his own, not the second-hand myths broadcast by authority figures.

There is another payoff. Creating worlds of your own gives you intimate knowledge of how those-who-would-be-our-masters try to impose their world on us.

In 1978, Philip K Dick wrote: “…today we live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups…So I ask, in my writing, What is real? Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms…it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind. I ought to know. I do the same thing.”

As a writer, as a person living a creative life, ideas and energies and language and images and visions are your own. What a wonderful thing. What a fantastic enterprise. What an adventure.

Exit From The Matrix: The Stage-play of Self and The Global Mystery

Consider that everything happening on planet Earth is an enormous stage play.

The mystery is: what is the theme? What is the payoff? What is the climax?

And even more deeply, what is the role of Self, the individual, in this play?

The key phrase is “in this play.” Because most people are, indeed, inside the play. They have roles. They may not be aware of the parts they’re playing, but that doesn’t change the situation or the dilemma.

How unusual would it be if, in a theater, in a city, citizens were led on to a stage to audition for parts—and the director said, “Well, we want you in this production, but we can’t show you the script. We can’t tell you your role. You’ll just have to feel your way along. Trust us, we know what we’re doing. And by the way, you’ll be playing your part for the rest of your life…”

Self doesn’t want this arrangement. Self wants something else, a way to see what the play is, a way to climb out of it.

Where to start? How to begin? What is the exit strategy?

That strategy depends on imagination. It can’t go anywhere without it.

The long-running Earth stage-play has severe limits. It tries to impose its energy-depleting plot-lines on Self.

But with imagination, a person can conceive of a new play, and create it, and centrally participate in it.

In fact, Self has been waiting for just such an opportunity. The cells of his body and brain, his thoughts, his energies have been waiting.

However, waiting doesn’t do it.

Connecting with one’s own imagination does do it. It initiates a cascade of ideas and emotions, which in turn feed back into imagination, making it even more powerful.

A new stage-play can come into being.

This is why I developed many imagination exercises and techniques for my collection, Exit From The Matrix.

Imagination is the source of possibilities which don’t yet exist, but could.

Imagination makes the as-yet unborn future real.

Imagination doesn’t feel hemmed in by what already exists.

A person, inspired by his own imagination, looks beyond his own present circumstances to inventing a larger future.

Imagination doesn’t ask for lengthy explanations. It just asks for a vision based on the desire for a great adventure.

The present becomes a platform from which to change reality.

Imagination says, “I understand you’re looking for different circumstances, and also looking for a different scope of operation. All that is possible.”

The individual has the capacity to re-energize his life by inventing a new future, and imagination is the key.

The permanence of the “ongoing stage play” and a person’s enduring role in it is an illusion.

Imagination proves that and proves that the beginning of liberation is just a moment away.

In this podcast, I’m going to talk about a subject near and dear to my heart. Decentralization of power across the board—which for me took off in 1988, when I wrote AIDS INC., Scandal of the Century.

Ever since then, I’ve been on that track. One, it brings power back to the individual, where it belongs; and two, it’s how you deal with tyranny at the top.

I’ve written and spoken about those subjects recently; in the podcast I’m fleshing out a vision of what decentralization can look like in full bloom, and how it benefits you to find your own vision.

With that last piece, I realize I’m on thin ice, because most people see absolutely no reason to create a vision about anything. When you suggest it they shrug and walk away.

Why? Because they see no value in imagination.

One of the priceless qualities in this or any other universe—and people yawn.

One of my self-appointed jobs over the past 30 years is promoting and explaining and elevating the power of imagination.

Imagination underlies ALL efforts at decentralization.

Imagination provides the SOLUTION to passivity and fatigue and the endless search for adrenaline and inspiration.

So I’ll talk about imagination in the podcast. It’s probably my favorite subject.

If somebody said, “You have to speak about one thing for 20 hours straight,” I’d pick imagination. No contest.

I’ll do my level best to inspire, not bore you in this podcast.

Reality—the total sum of what we’re told exists—is actually one tiny corner of everything that could be. And what could be is what gives life its meaning.

You can take THAT to the bank. But I advise you to keep it at home.

And remember, if a person says he has no imagination, all he has to do is imagine he does.

Which makes imagination the most interesting thing in the world.
