Behind the explosive Charles Lieber scandal

Once upon a time, they called it espionage. Then they called it “illegal technology transfer.” Then they casually and admiringly called it Globalism.

Imagine this.

A cutting-edge technology, which has applications for weaponry, transportation, medicine, artificial intelligence, surveillance, mind control…is being openly shared between the US and China.

As just one example, tiny sensors would, up the road, be placed inside the human body. These sensors automatically monitor and report thousands of changes, in real time, in the body—as a way of diagnosing diseases.

The sensors will transmit all this information, through the emerging Internet of Things—using the 5G pipeline—to medical centers—where AI corporate and government analysts will confirm the disease diagnoses and prescribe treatments.

Eventually, a few billion people (patients) would, through these sensors in their bodies, be hooked up to the 5G Internet of Things.

However, as I’ve reported many times in these pages, the standard definitions of diseases and disorders are often incorrect, or even invented. But because the future system I’ve just sketched is automated, the patient is enclosed in a fake and dangerous bubble. Among other problems, the disease treatments, the drugs, are toxic.

What is the technology that is on the way to producing these body sensors?

Nanoscience. Nano-engineering.

One of the leading nanoscience researchers in the world was recently arrested on a charge of concealing his connections to China.

Major US science star busted by the feds.

Charles Lieber, now suspended by Harvard, is the University’s chairman of the chemistry department.

I have read two articles from a foreign news outlet headlined with the claim that Lieber stole and smuggled the “new coronavirus” from the US to China. In both cases, the text of the articles mentioned nothing about such a theft. Click bait? I’m not writing this article about “coronavirus.” I’ve been writing many articles rejecting the premise of an “epidemic” caused by the “virus” (archive here).

I decided to look into this situation, because Lieber does apparently have big-time connections to China. Sharing research on his specialty, nanoscience, with China would be one more case of “technology sharing.”

Bloomberg News, February 12, 2020, “The U.S. Government’s China Crackdown Comes to Harvard”:

“Lieber’s arrest on Jan. 28 came in connection with his dealings in China. He hasn’t been charged with any type of economic espionage, intellectual-property theft, or export violations. Instead, he’s accused of lying to U.S. Department of Defense investigators about his work with the People’s Republic…”

“…by targeting Lieber, the chairman of Harvard’s chemistry department and a veritable ivory tower blue blood, prosecutors struck at the crimson heart of the academic elite, raising fears that globalism, when it comes to doing science with China, is being criminalized.”

“According to a government affidavit, signed by a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent named Robert Plumb, Lieber signed at least three agreements with Wuhan Technology University, or WUT, in central China. These included a contract with the state-sponsored Thousand Talents Plan—an effort by Beijing to attract mostly expatriate [Chinese] researchers and their know-how back home—worth a total of about $653,000 a year in pay [to Lieber] and living expenses for three years, plus $1.74 million [to Lieber] to support a new ‘Harvard-WUT Nano Key Lab’ in Wuhan. The government offered no evidence that Lieber actually received those sums… Lieber also deceived Harvard about his China contracts, the [federal] affidavit said.”

“Whatever extracurricular arrangements Lieber may have had in China, his Harvard lab was a paragon of U.S.-China collaboration. He relied on a pipeline of China’s brightest Ph.D. students and postdocs, often more than a dozen at a time, to produce prize-winning research on the revolutionary potential of so-called nanowires in biomedical implants. Dozens of Lieber’s 100 or so former lab members from China have chosen to stay in the U.S. Many now lead their own nanoscience labs at top universities, including Duke, Georgia Tech, MIT, Stanford, University of California at Berkeley, and UCLA.”

I’d say that’s pretty big technology-transfer WOW right there.

“In the 1990s and 2000s, as Lieber’s achievements and stature were taking off, U.S. research institutions and grant makers pumped money and moral support into expanding the burgeoning collaborations between scientists in the U.S. and other countries, particularly China. The new paradigm was globalization, China was an emerging economic power, and Lieber’s lab became an exemplar of pan-Pacific collaboration. “

Another WOW. Not a leak of information. A flood.

“A more controversial Lieber protégé is Liqiang Mai, the international dean and chair of materials science at WUT, the little-known school in Wuhan that prosecutors allege recruited Lieber to be a ‘strategic scientist’ in 2011, for $50,000 a month. Mai, who hasn’t been named in any U.S. filings against Lieber, earned a doctorate at WUT in 2004 and worked as a postdoc in Lieber’s lab from 2008 to 2011, according to Mai’s WUT online bio…”

How big a star is Lieber? Wikpedia: “Charles M. Lieber (born 1959) is an American chemist and pioneer in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. In 2011, Lieber was recognized by Thomson Reuters as the leading chemist in the world for the decade 2000-2010 based on the impact of his scientific publications. Lieber has published over 400 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has edited and contributed to many books on nanoscience. He is the principal inventor on over fifty issued US patents and applications, and founded the nanotechnology company Nanosys in 2001 and Vista Therapeutics in 2007. He is known for his contributions to the synthesis, assembly and characterization of nanoscale materials and nanodevices, the application of nanoelectronic devices in biology, and as a mentor to numerous leaders in nanoscience. In 2012, Lieber was awarded Israel’s Wolf Prize in Chemistry.”

Chemistry and Engineering News, January 28, 2020, “Harvard chemist Charles Lieber charged with fraud”:

“In addition, Lieber allegedly signed a contract that obligated Harvard to become part of a cooperative research program that allowed WUT [Chinese] scientists to visit the university up to two months each year. The [federal] complaint says he did not inform university officials of the agreement, which was for ‘advanced research and development of nano wire-based lithium-ion batteries with high performance for electric vehicles’.”

Another “technology transfer” of great value.

“…the NIH [US National Institutes of Health, a federal agency] asked Harvard about whether the university or Lieber failed to disclose his financial relationship with China. Lieber has been a principal investigator on at least three NIH grants totaling $10 million since 2008. After interviewing Lieber, Harvard [incorrectly, supposedly based on Lieber’s statements] responded to the NIH that he [Lieber] had ‘no formal association with WUT [Wuhan Institute of Technology]’ and ‘is not and has never been a participant in’ the [Chinese] Thousand Talents program.”

NIH has strict regulations about its researchers disclosing their conflict-of-interest connections. The feds obviously believe Lieber has failed to report his China connections to NIH. This may become a factor in his prosecution.

Lieber was operating a robust center at Harvard: Lieber Research Group. Its focus is nanoscience and nanotechnology. So it’s natural to ask, what kind of research findings would be shared with China?

On the Group’s website, there is this, right off the bat: “We are pioneering the interface between nanoelectronics and the life sciences…sensors for real-time disease detection…”

Hence, the picture of the future I sketched at the beginning of this article.

I may report further on nanoscience. Of course, the ominous technological innovations apply to both China and the US, and the rest of the world…

The Chinese government has the clout, will, force, and intent to impose, without hesitation, every sort of possible control on its 1.4 billion citizens. It is in the process of building many new “smart cities.” These centers will be models of wall-to-wall surveillance. AI, Internet of Things, 5G, the works. If nanoscience can achieve much more intimate access to people, through implanted sensors, why wouldn’t the central government jump at the chance to deploy it? The rationale and the cover story are obvious: WE MUST HAVE EARLY KNOWLEDGE OF NEW VIRUS EPIDEMICS. WE WILL DETECT THEM DIRECTLY FROM THE BODIES OF OUR PEOPLE IN REAL TIME.

All hail, Globalism and technocracy.

Paris attacks, Missouri U protests

The uses of propaganda

by Jon Rappoport

November 17, 2015

(Jon has a new work of fiction at his other blog, Outside The Reality Machine. If you want to take a wild ride, read it.)

“After catastrophic events, the propaganda machines start rolling. Opportunities abound. The goal is: use the disaster to boost a current agenda, when there really is no connection at all. It’s called a non-sequitur. It’s perfect food for dim minds.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)

Let’s look at how propaganda arising out of the Paris attacks will be deployed in the upcoming Climate Summit.

File this under: how much hay will global elites make from the Paris attacks?

Also file it under: the use of complete non-sequiturs as propaganda, to achieve desired results.

Let’s consider the Paris Climate Summit (COP21), scheduled to start on November 30 in Paris. No less than 120 nations will be represented by their heads of state, including Obama. Somewhere between 20 and 40 thousand credentialed representatives are going to attend.

That gives you some idea of the importance of the event. This is a big deal. Very big. As the Scientific American states in “Paris Attack Will Not Halt Global Climate Talks”:

“The two weeks of talks begin Nov. 30 and will take place at Le Bourget airfield on the outskirts of Paris. They are expected to culminate in a new international agreement to lower greenhouse gas emissions and possibly put in place a system by which nearly 200 countries can regularly enact new and stronger climate targets.”

The Paris summit is the most ambitious effort yet to impose the pseudoscience of global warming on the planet. Lower CO2 emissions, carbon taxes, cap and trade, the whole works. Result? Reduce energy output and supplies for all nations, deepening poverty, increasing chaos.

Now, to sample the flavor of comments on the Climate Summit, in the wake of the Paris attacks, here are statements reported, again, by the Scientific American:

“Diplomats from New Zealand to the Maldives said they believe the vicious assaults on ordinary citizens are precisely the reason the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the U.N. climate convention must still convene as planned. U.S. President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry will be among nearly 120 heads of state attending.”

“’COP 21 has to take place; otherwise, it would mean being weak and scared by terrorism, which would be for them an additional victory,’ Pascal Canfin, France’s former minister of development, told ClimateWire.”

“Agreed Jeffrey Waheed, deputy permanent representative of the Maldives to the United Nations, ‘We cannot acquiesce to brutality. It is important that terror attacks don’t dissuade us from what’s most important to the international community.’”

Getting the picture?

Here comes the non-sequitur: “solidarity in the face of terrorism” among nations equals: “we must all agree on deeper enforcement of climate rules.” That’s the pitch, that’s the propaganda.

Logically, it makes no sense, it’s an idiot’s dance, but whoever said propaganda relies on logic?

You’re going to hear this kind of thing: “If we convene in Paris and can’t come up with hard agreements on climate enforcement, we’ll be dishonoring all those who died in the attacks…”

And this: “We have one chance now to show how determined we are to forge a global community, not just for climate agreements, but for all that is good, against the brutal killers who assaulted this great city…”

Connecting two ideas that don’t go together is one of the prime strategies of propagandists—and you can see it’s already being used in this case. Again, we’re not talking about some small attempt to forge climate rules. This is a huge piece of the Globalist agenda, because it drives all nations deeper into poverty and energy deficits, under the guise of “saving the planet.”

power outside the matrix

In the case of the University of Missouri student protests, where the accusations of horrendous racism on campus have, so far, proven to be largely a hoax, the propaganda was all about the “power of students to force change.” The president of the University, Tim Wolfe, was targeted, and he quickly resigned.

But the truth is, the University football team forced Wolfe out, and his instant capitulation had nothing to do with racism. It had to do with money. Thirty football players were ready to boycott the team’s next game with BYU, and if they refused to take the field, Missouri would have to pay BYU a million dollars. But that was only the beginning of the $$ problem.

Since 2012, the U of Missouri has been part of the vaunted SEC (Southeastern Conference), the most powerful college football consortium of teams in America. The SEC has 14 member teams in 10 states. In 2014-15, the SEC paid its members $455 million.

If the Missouri football boycott spread to other SEC teams, the whole system could collapse, and this would have repercussions far beyond the SEC. We’re talking television contracts, advertisers, student bodies addicted to football. We’re talking about a “national pastime,” future Bowl games, the whole national playoff system.

Tim Wolfe took about five minutes to decide to resign, once he realized what was at stake. You can bet a few heavy hitters from the television networks and the SEC were on the phone to him, pronto.

Forget Wolfe’s public mea culpa. He was protecting the financial football establishment. He literally took one for the team.

The propaganda, and the ensuing college copycat protests at other schools, like Amherst, “showing solidarity” with the U of Missouri, all lead back to money. To football. To the billion-dollar bonanza industry that must not be derailed. As soon as Wolfe resigned, the Missouri student who was on a protest hunger strike (his father reportedly makes $8 million a year) started eating again. The football players went back on the field and got ready for their next game.

All the hoopla and propaganda about a moral victory against racism is a sham. It was a victory for football.

And you have to wonder: If the Missouri team was undefeated, on the verge of securing a spot in the national playoffs, instead of sporting a mediocre 5-4 record at the time, would 30 players have threatened to boycott their next game and risked taking themselves out of the championship picture? I doubt it.

Propaganda: it can be used in the aftermath of a disaster to promote an ongoing agenda, or it can be used to explain (wrongly) why something happened, in order to promote an ongoing agenda.

It works like magic when the target audience is uninformed and incurious.

What today’s college activism is all about

What today’s college activism is all about

And the revolt against the empire

by Jon Rappoport

March 25, 2015

NoMoreFakeNews.com

“Major pysops often contain the element of diversion. That is, the agents and propagandists are taking attention away from something they want to fall down the memory hole. This is particularly true when the thing-to-be forgotten was once a huge threat to the establishment. That thing must fade into oblivion. It must never surface again. So the people who could make it surface again are led into multiple distractions: substitutes for the real thing.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)

In the 1960s, there was a fearful and terrible thing called college activism.

It was fearful and terrible for the US war machine, during the Vietnam disaster.

From that moment, the establishment decided: this must never happen again.

Flash forward to today. Political movements on college campuses—many of them funded by college cash—are all about anything and everything EXCEPT a revolt against:

The State;

The war machine;

Destructive mega-corporations.

This is no accident.

It’s a large op.

A diversionary op.

Student groups on campuses are pitted against each other as they battle for college funding.

Students operate under a cloud of government loans so huge they have to preoccupy themselves with a future in which they are basically debtors, trying to pay off the $$.

As a result of multiple Globalist treaties (e.g., NAFTA, GATT, and the upcoming TPP), the job market in the US is deeply depressed. Therefore, debtor students have to focus on strategies for landing employment after graduation.

Millions of students are inevitably wrapped up in college courses which, in one form or another, are bankrolled by corporate and government money.

The subliminal message: don’t rock the boat; don’t bite the hand that feeds you; don’t revolt against The Machine.

“Here are some approved issues about which you are permitted to protest. Go to it. But don’t step outside the line.”

power outside the matrix

On top of all this, corporate and government money, which drives the agendas of many college teaching departments, results in curriculum slanted toward officially approved ideas, concepts, paradigms. The result? Students are programmed within narrow parameters.

The good news is: it’s darkest before the dawn.

There are students around the world who can see through all this insanity. They know their education and their college experience are being tilted, slanted, directed, and reduced.

They can imagine something else.

They’re at an age where shoot-for-the-moon still has vivid meaning.

A locked-down society isn’t their dream.

They can turn the op around and begin investigating their own colleges and universities. They can follow the money and find out where it’s coming from. They can expose their schools as arms of the Corporate State. They can support those few professors who buck the tide.

In my previous article, I strongly suggested a target: Monsanto.

That mega-corp has its hands and money deep in the entrails of many colleges. The corruption is foul. It can be rooted out.

Life is never what it seems to be, unless the order of the day is Surrender. There are always new roads and new possibilities.

Most people don’t want to know about that. But some do.

They’re the rebels against the empire.

Subject: College activism around the world against Monsanto

Divest Monsanto

by Jon Rappoport

March 25, 2015

NoMoreFakeNews.com

Once upon a time, there was a thing called college activism that reached outside the borders of the campus and exerted enormous power.

It’s time again.

It’s long past the moment of knowing that Monsanto (and the other GMO/biotech giants) are doing great harm to human health, the land, and small farmers with their GMO crops and pesticides.

College groups need to form, and demand disinvestment from Monsanto.

This means students commanding their colleges and universities, in no uncertain terms, to get rid of every money-trace of Monsanto.

Get rid of, nullify, dump, refuse Monsanto research grants.

Cancel Monsanto-endowed chairs for professors.

Put an end to Monsanto student scholarships.

Sell off all Monsanto stock acquired through investment of college-fund monies. Likewise, cease all investment in trading institutions which in turn hold Monsanto stock.

Stop licensing university-held patents to Monsanto.

Divest. Wipe the slate clean.

Those of us who write for or publish “alternative” news sites should encourage college students to form groups for the expressed goal:

* Dump Monsanto.

* Make colleges Monsanto-free.

power outside the matrix

We’ve all spent time and energy researching, writing, and speaking about the crimes of Monsanto. That research can help college students bring themselves up to speed on the truths that have been buried by the mainstream press and government cronies of Monsanto.

Why not crash the monopolist’s party?

These days, giant corporations have their hands (holding out cash) deeply embedded in college affairs. Monsanto is an egregious example.

Suppose colleges reject that cash. Reject Monsanto.

Are students willing?

Let’s find out.

Are they willing to dig in and discover all the sources of Monsanto money infecting their colleges?

Would they be willing to boycott professors who are being funded by Monsanto?

Let’s find out.

Can the revolt against Monsanto have activist legs on college campuses?

Is this kind of activism dead, or just dormant?

Is there is a sleeping giant who can awaken?

Let’s find out.

If just a few college groups start the ball rolling, we can give them enough global publicity and support to inform and inspire college students around the world.

NSA alive&well at colleges: code MDA-904

NSA alive&well at colleges: code MDA-904

by Jon Rappoport

November 11, 2014

NoMoreFakeNews.com

These days, students are, for the most part, oblivious to how their colleges and universities are funded.

I’m not talking about donations from graduates and boosters, or revenue generated from televised football games. I’m talking, for example, about secretive government agencies.

CIA, NSA, DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency).

At Wikileaks, Julian Assange posted an overview (10/7/2007), “On the take and loving it—academic recipients of the US intelligence budget.”

Consider Assange’s stunning conclusion: “Over the last decade, U.S intelligence funding of academic research has taken on cavalier, even brazen qualities. This article reveals over 3,000 National Security Agency and over 100 Defense Intelligence Agency funded papers and draws attention to recent unreported revelations of CIA funding for torture research.”

Torture research. If people need evidence that the CIA’s MKULTRA is still alive, there it is.

Assange: “The NSA has pushed tens or hundreds of millions into the academy through research grants using one particular grant code. NSA funding sources are often nakedly, even proudly, declared in research papers (‘I may be nothing, but look, a big gang threw me a sovereign’). Some researchers try to conceal or otherwise downplay the source using accepted covers, weasel words and acronyms, yet commonality in the NSA grant code prefix makes all these attempts transparent. The primary NSA grant-code prefix is MDA904.”

“An examination of academic papers referencing the code gives the impression that most or all research grantees know the true source of their funding. These are not academics who have been fooled. These are willing, even eager, participants.”

The NSA uses a number of “contracting and grant making light covers,” Assange writes. Among them: Maryland Procurement Office, Department of Defense, DOD, ARDA.”

Naturally, all the NSA grants to academics are for research on how to spy. Don’t be fooled by the numerous NSA awards for work in abstract mathematics. The NSA’s interest in math per se is zero. The Agency seeks to apply the research to universal snooping.

College students who claim to be activists can dig into records and discover what grants the NSA is making to their professors.

The students can name names. They can make the facts public on campus and stage protests and sit-ins. They can demand de-funding and cutting NSA relationships. They can boycott those professors’ classes.

During the last decade, students have been directed toward certain causes and away from others. The creation of the politically correct student has been a priority for “progressive” players.

Researching and responding to outside funding hasn’t been on the radar. In particular, Pentagon, pharmaceutical, corporate agriculture, and intelligence-agency money has been ignored.

This needs to change—if college students still have the IQ to understand the problem and react to it.

A quick search led me to two high-ranked American colleges, Bard and Claremont McKenna. Bard openly offers its faculty assistance in applying for grants. Among the funding sources listed: NSA.

An article at the Claremont McKenna site celebrates a $40,000 NSA grant to Professor Lenny Fukshansky, a mathematician, to further his work in “Analytic techniques and algebraic constructions in geometric lattice theory.”

Nothing to see there, students. It’s just lattices. How could NSA use them, other than to hang plants in their offices to brighten the environment?

“Hi, I’m Professor Genius-IQ Doofus. I work for the Surveillance State. Don’t bother putting down your cell phones while you’re in class. The NSA is spying on you through them, and I’m helping the NSA. Now let’s learn some math.”

Psychiatry targets college students for destruction

College students: psychiatry targets them for final destruction

by Jon Rappoport

September 22, 2013

(To join our email list, click here.)

Send your child to college, and watch him earn a mental-disorder diagnosis.

What better target-rich environment for pharma/psychiatry to exploit than colleges?

Constantly renewing enrollments of the young and vulnerable, under pressure to perform academically, away from home for the first time, becoming aware that a degree may earn them zero security in the shrinking job market.

Through on-campus counseling services, feeder lines channel students into psychiatrists’ office. Some colleges even have “crisis response teams” to guide students with problems into the heart of psychiatric-drug darkness.

The JED Foundation is an example of a group that networks with colleges to set up comprehensive systems for mental-health services. It boasts two past presidents of the American Psychiatric Association on its boards. JED’s medical director, Dr. Victor Schwartz, writes:

In the past year, 21.2 percent of college students received a psychiatric diagnosis or were treated for mental health issues such as depression or eating disorders, and an estimated 6.6 percent of students reported having serious thoughts of suicide…”

One out of five college students in the psychiatric pipeline.

And this figure is going to increase, in the wake of “cautionary events” like the Aurora, Sandy Hook, and Navy Yard shootings, which are being promoted as posters for earlier “mental-health interventions.”

Watch for it. The “see something, say something” mantra of the DHS will cross over. “If you see a fellow student exhibiting the following signs, it’s your duty to say something to the college counseling office…treatment is the answer.”

If you went to college, I’ll bet you can remember numerous moments when—if a “mental-health atmosphere” had pervaded the campus—a psychiatrist would have diagnosed you with a disorder and prescribed a toxic drug.

It’s now an open secret (even mainstream news outlets are sticking their toes in the water) that the SSRI antidepressants induce violence, including suicide and homicide. See SSRI Stories for many sourced accounts.

Psychiatry is random MKULTRA in the express lane. Drug millions, stand back, and watch the violence spread like blood on a blotter.

One of my many articles on medical fraud, “The lying liars who lie about psychiatry,” establishes that: there are no definitive physical diagnostic tests for ANY so-called mental disorder; therefore, these disorders are rank fictions; and drugs used to treat patients are highly toxic.

There are, in fact, many reasons why people in general, and college students in particular, go off the rails, suffer, feel pain, experience disorientation, wrestle with problems they can’t resolve:

Severe nutritional deficits; prior toxic medical drugs; environmental chemicals; food sensitivities; peer pressure; physical and emotional abuse; vaccine injury; oxygen-deficit; head injuries. The list goes on.

Health practitioners who have the knowledge and take the time can discover particular causes in a given patient. In many cases, these problems can be reversed.

The concept called “mental disorder” is a sales pitch backed up by extraordinary PR, money, academic gibberish, and government-granted official status.

After the recent mass killings in Aurora, Sandy Hook, Boston, and Washington, psychiatry is flying high. It’s doubling down on its lies, and making a case, with its federal allies and media know-nothings, for more intervention, more diagnosis, more drugs, more “surveillance of early warning signs.”

People need to wake up to the fact that the whole panoply of human suffering has been co-opted, taken over, redefined, re-translated into a lexicon of pseudoscience.

This would be bad enough, but when you add the toxic and violence-inducing drugs to the mix, you have an underworld of RICO crime the mafia could only dream of. Because it’s right out in the open, and its priests in white coats can even testify in court trials as experts.

Exit From the Matrix

(To read about Jon’s mega-collection, Exit From The Matrix, click here.)

Waking up is hard to do, for people who’ve already bought the premise of mental health. They hope against hope (and thus believe) that the cure is here, the analysis is real, the science is true. They imagine that only Neanderthals would reject psychiatry.

They trust in promises of the march of progress. They believe the press releases.

They send their children to college.

They pay the price of their faith. Their son or daughter is now in the psychiatric system.

Here is one such story, from Dr, Peter Breggin’s landmark book, Toxic Psychiatry:

Roberta was a college student, getting good grades, mostly A’s, when she first became depressed and sought psychiatric help at the recommendation of her university health service. She was eighteen at the time, bright and well motivated, and a very good candidate for psychotherapy. She was going through a sophomore-year identity crisis about dating men, succeeding in school, and planning a future. She could have thrived with a sensitive therapist who had an awareness of women’s issues.

Instead of moral support and insight, her doctor gave her Haldol. Over the next four years, six different physicians watched her deteriorate neurologically without warning her or her family about tardive dyskinesia [motor brain damage] and without making the [tardive dyskinesia] diagnosis, even when she was overtly twitching in her arms and legs. Instead they switched her from one neuroleptic to another, including Navane, Stelazine, and Thorazine. Eventually a rehabilitation therapist became concerned enough to send her to a general physician, who made the diagnosis [of medical drug damage]. By then she was permanently physically disabled, with a loss of 30 percent of her IQ.

“…my medical evaluation described her condition: Roberta is a grossly disfigured and severely disabled human being who can no longer control her body. She suffers from extreme writhing movements and spasms involving the face, head, neck, shoulders, limbs, extremities, torso, and back-nearly the entire body. She had difficulty standing, sitting, or lying down, and the difficulties worsen as she attempts to carry out voluntary actions. At one point she could not prevent her head from banging against nearby furniture. She could hold a cup to her lip only with great difficulty. Even her respiratory movements are seriously afflicted so that her speech comes out in grunts and gasps amid spasms of her respiratory muscles…Roberta may improve somewhat after several months off the neuroleptic drugs, but she will never again have anything remotely resembling a normal life.”
