Renegade Priest deals with a man during confession

Church members tended to avoid Father John J O’Connor. He was known to be thorny, even confrontational. So it was with some trepidation that Paul Smith, who was told his regular confessor was out with the flu, approached the box when he saw Father John standing by it.

Inside, Father John said, “So why are you here today?”

To make confession.

I know that. But why?

My son, who is 11, doesn’t want to go school.

Because?

He doesn’t want to take the needle in his arm. He doesn’t like listening to the teacher talking about transgenderism. He doesn’t like the teacher calling white students racists.

And you?

I don’t like all that, either. But I don’t know what to do. My sister thinks I may have a mental health issue. She wants me to see a psychiatrist.

Do you want to?

I don’t know.

What would the diagnosis be?

I have no idea.

Depression? Bipolar? Oppositional Defiance Disorder?

I don’t know.

You don’t know what to do with your son. Does that mean you have a mental problem?

Maybe.

So you’re on the fence.

Yes.

What do you want me to do about that?

Take my confession and tell me how to obtain absolution.

If I do, will your situation change?

I hope so.

How?

I’ll feel relieved.

Why?

Because you accept my confession.

What happens if you take your son out of the school for good?

I’d have to find him another school. And in the neighborhood, and at work, the word would get out.

People would know you’re against the policies of the school.

Yes. I don’t want to make waves. My boss might see me as some kind of radical.

What’s your boss’s position on the issues your son is facing in school?

My boss has a relative who sits on the school board. He goes along to get along.

Would he fire you?

I suppose that’s possible. He would certainly pass me over for a promotion.

So you see this as a squeeze play.

Well, yes. There are forces pressing on me from different directions.

What does your wife think?

She wants me to take our boy out of school.

Is she adamant?

I would say so, yes.

Any other family involved?

My brother. He’s all for the vaccine.

Do you live in fear?

What?

Do you live in fear?

No. I mean I have certain fears at times, but I maintain my equilibrium.

Your equilibrium. What about your faith?

What do you mean?

In what do you invest your faith?

Jesus Christ, God, the Church.

And what does that faith do for you?

I don’t understand.

What return are you getting for your investment?

A sense of order, of peace.

In other words, you can live your life as you ordinarily would, but with the added bonus of a feeling of security.

My faith is deeper than that.

How?

I feel I know there is a life after this one.

And what is your place in that next life?

Hopefully, as a soul who is saved, in Heaven.

Meanwhile, until then, back on Earth, what else does your faith do for you, besides offering a sense of peace?

What do you mean?

Is there anything else you derive from faith?

I rely on the Church. It gives me hope.

Hope, for instance, that all is not lost for humankind?

Yes.

Would you say, all in all, that you’re deriving great benefit from your faith?

Of course.

What does your faith require from you?

What?

Aside from reaping benefits, what should you give?

I give to the Church. I make yearly donations.

And that’s it?

Are you saying I should give more?

I’m just asking questions. Does your faith empower you?

I…I’m not sure. How would it?

That’s my next question.

I don’t know. I’ve never sought power. Father, where is this going?

I don’t know. I want to find out. Does your faith suggest to you that you should take action?

What kind of action?

Well, over there, you have a problem. Your son, his school. Over here, you have your faith. Is there a bridge between the two? A bridge you should be crossing?

Oh. Well, I don’t know.

When it comes to this problem with your son and his school, what do you think you should do as a man, as a father?

That’s the thing. I’m not sure.

In other words, you’re afraid.

Well…I’ve prayed to God, asking for advice, but I haven’t gotten an answer.

Why do you think He hasn’t answered you?

I don’t know.

Is it possible He wants to see you take some action on your own, as a man, before He gets back to you?

Is that the Church’s position?

I doubt it. Perhaps it once was. It’s hard to say. We’re just sitting here talking. You and I. Two men.

And when you look at me, Father, what do you see?

I see what you see when you look at yourself.

But I don’t know what to think about myself.

I believe you do.

Really?

Yes. I believe you’re looking for cover. Refuge. A way out. An escape hatch. You want to use the Church as a crutch.

But in a way, that’s what the Church is, isn’t it? Not a fake crutch, a real one. Something ultimate to lean on. Because the Church is connected to God.

So then, you can postpone taking action on your son’s behalf. You can rely on us. You don’t have to stand up against evil and show some sign of bravery on your own. You can let the Church excuse you. That doesn’t add up for me.

Maybe I should pray deeper and with more conviction, give myself over totally to God’s Will.

Why haven’t you?

It’s a big step.

It seems as if you’re saying everything is a big step, and all the steps are just out of your reach. I don’t see that as God’s problem or the Church’s. I see it as your problem.

You’re not speaking on behalf of the Church, Father. I can tell.

Very few people in the Church listen to anything I have to say. Anyway, when I sit here talking to you, I see a blank spot in you. It’s a nice blank spot, a friendly blank spot, an earnest blank spot. I think you cultivate that spot in yourself. You tend it like a garden. It makes you impervious. At least you think it does, until something happens to you—or in this case, to your son. Then you come here looking for an out. You want absolution. You need courage, but you want an excuse to do nothing.

Maybe you’re right, Father.

I think you know I’m right.

Then what should I do?

Find a way INTO this mess with your son, not out of it. Don’t think of your faith as the end of something, but as a start. Act on it. Face the situation. Be brave.

How?

There is no how. Even if you turn your life over to God, you still have to DO something.

He can’t do it for me if I believe in Him?

He can do anything He wants to. What are you going to do?

I’m just a man.

Just? God gave you free will. Do you think He offered that gift so you could surrender it?

Will you take my confession, Father?

I’ve been taking it with every word you speak. But I won’t give you a way out.

Why not?

Because you’re playing dumb. If that’s what God wants you to do, then I’ve totally misunderstood what His Church is supposed to stand for.

I’m seeking a State of Grace.

Really? That is something no human can offer or exercise control over.

Sinners come to the Church. They want forgiveness.

You think it’s that simple? If there is a boot stamping on the face of humanity, and a man does NOTHING about it, we in the Church are supposed to exonerate that man AND claim we are acting in God’s name? In Christ’s name, who sacrificed Himself on the Cross? Well, here is one priest who won’t do that. And by the way, I know of several Protestant churches that stayed open during the lockdowns. They defied the authorities. But they are full of pride for simply staying open. For what purpose did they conduct services on Sundays? Did the pastors demand that their congregations go out into the streets and protest the lockdowns? Did the pastors tell their congregations to keep their businesses open no matter what? No.

You’re going too far, Father. You’re asking too much.

That’s my job. How far did the first Christians go in defending their faith against the tyrannical leaders of their day? For what purpose did they risk their lives? So you could live in comfort and endlessly debate with yourself the merits of taking your son out of school? So you could conveniently forget what courage is? So you could find a way to live in a moral vacuum?

Now wait a minute—

I’m one of those “first Christians.” The stakes then and the stakes now are exactly the same. I try to live as if I’ve just heard Jesus preach in person. As if I were inspired to carry my Faith in Him against all attempts to silence and neuter it.

Obviously, I don’t live up to your standard.

No, you don’t live up to your own. And your solution is to pretend you don’t know what that standard is. So you come here with a begging bowl. You want us to certify your self-trickery. You want us to absolve you from concealing everything you’re concealing from yourself. I don’t recall Jesus ever saying His Revelations involved the individual eradicating his own conscience. Through lockdowns and mandates, people steal your right to earn your daily bread. People try to steal your son’s mind. And you claim you don’t know what to do about it. And now you want to blame me because I won’t put a salve on your wound.

Goodbye, Father. I have to go.

Too bad. I was just getting started…

    EXACTLY….BRILLIANT!

  2. ‘sighs’… yes that’s definitely the state of mind of the deniers: wanting absolution for their lack of courage, hoping God would save them from the chains they are willingly locking around their necks.

Thanks, again a nice one to read!

Just the right time for this type of message!

I was just thinking about a quote that I think Jefferson made just after writing the Declaration of Independence. He made a statement that I think was more of a challenge. They had just formed a republic and the challenge on our part was to keep it. My thought was this: What if THAT was the long game or experiment?

These “elites” who consider themselves god-like, and the rest profane, love to manipulate the masses. What if this whole independence was just another rigged system? Who knows.

    God bless and be well.

Just a little background on the “sacrament” of confession. A free book on the internet, “The Vaticans Billions” by Avro Manhattan, exposes how confession was an intelligence gathering device in Europe throughout the dark ages.

Competition was fierce, among the royals and elites who were duped into this practice, each one determined to outdo the other by obtaining a higher ranking confessor. Of course this meant traveling to Rome on ancient pilgrimage trails like Spain’s Compostela Santiago. These trails soon became magnets for marauders, because the pilgrims always had to bring gold along.

    • Geo Martin says:

I’m sure Avro Manhattan didn’t have his own agenda and group loyalties…Like there are no interests againt the church of Christ.

  11. Tom Bernard says:

I finally got a response from a Christian I know in regard to Jon’s recent articles… and this is from a woman who is a big deal in her church…

Not only did she easily brush off the removal of a living baby’s organs moments after birth… She enthusiastically got the booster and hopes she’ll be safe for a while… She also recapped several local covid cases among her ‘vaccinated’ friends and church members… All who received, “the transfusion treatment” as she called it, after testing positive; (because, obviously the vaccine didn’t work.) and then she topped it all with a story of an 18 year old golden retriever who had recently died; stating it probably died from covid; “because animals can get covid, you know…”

And this is what we’re up against in the Christian Community… These people have embraced Jesus because they are terrified of death, and not because they recognize God as Holy… So naturally the only sane thing to do is sacrifice everyone’s freedom to corrupt Politicians and inject poison into your body… Oh yeah, and she blamed, “an unvaccinated individual” for every local covid case… without ever considering that the vaccine might not actually be effective…

    • Laura says:

I’m in the same boat with my mother who is a “devout” catholic. She proudly said she doesn’t care about the suffering of the elderly in nursing homes/hospitals who were left to die of abject loneliness and despair. She didn’t care about those who lost their jobs or businesses. She doesn’t care about the children who are being physically, psychologically, spiritually traumatized by this nonsense. She doesn’t care about aborted babies or all the tortured animals being used for “science”. Her best friend is a nun and together, they are the 2 most self righteous people. I feel sorry for my mother that she lives in absolute fear and does not have any true faith in the power of God that is in us. I don’t even really know who she is anymore – she is nothing but an empty shell. She gleefully ran out to get her 3 shots and has been sick ever since. She wears her mask proudly. She becomes enraged when I tell her it was vaccine that made her sick. She gives her “tithing” to the church each week and, to her, that is enough. She really worships the medical industry and the government as her “saviors” not realizing these false idols are killing her.

      • Glenn Lego says:

In my neighborhood is a church called “Faith Walkers Assembly “ but on the door they are a sign of “masks required”. What kind of faith is that?

      • Geo Martin says:

My mum is the same, only that she doesn’t pretend she is a Catholic anymore. She lost her faith long ago, that’s why she embraced the false religion of statism. The state and medicine are her gods.

  12. Susan Dorey says:

This priest almost makes me believe in the church. He is not going through the paces, the ritual. He understands what the church can offer to its followers. If I had met somone like this years ago, I might not have abandoned Christianity.

  13. Jim S Smith says:

    Oh my golly! ! !

    That was sooo good!

Most of these “last days fear-mongerers” would be utterly tongue-tied and frustrated – trying to ‘splain their way out of this one, in such a discussion.

This nailed it right on the head!

We were supposed to be created to be “DO’ers”, not just idlers (or “idolaters”). Too many worship the image (or “idol”), but NOT the actual act of doing in the name of their god(s)!

I’ve learned more about the catholic church from your satire, Jon, than anywhere else and since I was not a theology student. The Pentecostal church on the south side remained open. The Pastor was proud to preach this happening. I think the politicians were afraid to interfere due to a long standing rumor that much witchcraft exists in these places of God. Only problem, Pentacostal’s are waiting for the “rapture.” I prefer, “Caught up in the Rapture of Love.” by Anita Baker,

  15. David Herin says:

It’s widespread avoidance of the evil right in front of our faces, and done in the name of Christ! We cannot remain passive about evil, especially an evil that is no longer very subtle. Avoidance of non-subtle evil amounts to self-deception.

What then is the Christian’s response to evil? We’re told in Romans 12 to: “Let love be sincere. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” Christians are told that they shouldn’t hate, but the fact is we SHOULD hate; we simply must be clear about the object of our hate. Hating evil cultivates and empowers us to cling to the good, and vice versa.

Christians should hate evil. See my article:

  17. Belinda Cas says:

😂 excellent compilation on the weakness of mankind’s spirit and conviction not only to self but to their faith! Be brave. God rewards the brave.

  18. Roundball Shaman says:

“I don’t want to make waves.”

Why are people today so deathly afraid of ‘making waves’? Are they so weak and without even the barest form of moral fabric that belonging to The Group – even if the Group is a mob of empty-headed robotic lunatics — is the only choice that they know know how to make?

“My boss might see me as some kind of radical.”

Is the fear of being seen as a ‘radical’ due to fear of losing a job? And why is that even a concern when businesses large and small are begging and pleading for help and jobs are plentiful?

    “Do you live in fear?”

Fear is the ONLY way billions of people are living today. And they have no desire to change that. They have fully embraced fear and trembling as their permanent lifestyle (which they are quickly passing along to the next generations).

“I feel I know there is a life after this one.”

And what are they carrying into that next life but their lifestyle of institutionalized
general fear and specific fear of standing out and making waves? What if conquering fear and learning how to make waves when they need to be made are REQUIREMENTS for gaining entry to that life after this one? And why do they never even consider such a possibility?

“Is there anything else you derive from faith?”

It pacifies their fear. But of course, not really. Fear remains their foundation and ‘faith’ is but a small bandage trying to cover a gaping wound.

“What does your faith require from you?”

This is a question that no one seems to be asking themselves. Because the answer they would discover is too painful for them to consider.

    “Does your faith empower you?”

To be empowered, one must WANT to be empowered. This doesn’t seem high on the list of desires for billions of people right now.

“When it comes to this problem with your son and his school, what do you think you should do as a man, as a father?”

Being a ‘man’ and ‘father’ is today being framed as racist and anti-woman and toxic and in bad taste. Further, to be a ‘man’ is seen as being intolerant of fringe lifestyles that we all are told to fully embrace in our New Church of Holy Wokedom.

“God gave you free will. Do you think He offered that gift so you could surrender it?”

Billions of people today have tossed aside free will like one of those gifts you get from someone on your birthday that you don’t like or want.

Today’s Grand Psy-Op from the Dark Powers has successful undercut strong pillars of a healthy, thriving society in the erasure of ‘man’-ness and free will.

  20. Laura says:

Thank you Jon – you always get to the heart of the matter with a few sprinkles of dry humor. It’s easier for people to play the victim rather than take responsibility for their choices. They claim, “I had to take the vaccine…I had no choice” or “I have no choice but to keep my kid in a school that I know is predatory and teaching lies and forcing them to be smothered with masks.” Sorry, we all have a choice and there is always a way out of any sticky situation. Nobody made them be injected with poison; they did that to themselves because it was easier to just go along with the program. Parent could band together and pull their children out of school, but that would take effort and most parent shamefully use public schools as a free babysitter.

People are waiting for someone else to “save” them or they are waiting for Jesus to ride in on his white horse not realizing that the second coming of Christ is when we finally realize we all have the power of Christ within us. We can save ourselves. Jesus himself said that in scripture. “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it… Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

I don’t think they ever read that passage in the Bible in all my years going to Catholic church…Hmmm, I wonder why??

You are so right Jon, we need action. Jesus didn’t tell his apostles to sit passively waiting around for him to come back. He told them to get off their butts and “ask, seek and knock”.

Jon, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THIS is.. hands down.. the BEST PIECE you’ve ever written, (and you’ve written some great stuff). YES@! IT’S ELECTRIFYING.

I’VE BEEN WONDERING FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW… WHERE IS THE CHURCH – TERRIBLE AS AN ARM WITH BANNERS!? WHEN WILL PHINEAS STAND UP!?
    (TAG – I guess you’re it)

I’m a gal. I live in NY of all places, and haven’t worn a mask ONCE. I DO NOT WEAR MASKS, nor pretend that they do a damn thing except choke oxygen intake. Neither have I ever been fooled by the scamdemic. In February of 2020 I saw the crazy videos from China and asked Jesus.. ‘What is this about?’. He said, ‘It’s about control’. PFfffssst.. No covid ever had me hoaxed.

Take my son out of school!? A no brainer. HELL.. I sent him overseas! He’s in Belarus where the principled Christian president Lukashenko REFUSED to sell out his people.. In 2020 he turned down the nearly BILLION dollar bribe to pretend there was a pandemic. (the same bribe the rest of the nations took) Nick’s over there enjoying life without masks, without vaccines..
(I pray for the Belorussian president daily)

But I spend my days in the USA wondering ‘where are the courageous christians? Where are the pastors who refused to close the church doors.. that refuse to don the talisman masks?? ..declaring ‘WE OUGHT TO OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN! WHERE??? WHERE???

The Lord showed me last March, that we were in the mirror of Mt. Sinai, (Numbers 13 – 16) where only TWO out of TWO MILLION believed God. The rest perished. (I used to have trouble believing that after all the miracles of Egypt God’s people could have so little faith)…

    Thank you Jon. Phineas.

I appreciated this banquet of spiritual soul examination. I had only one slight observation. You used the phrase “But they are full of pride for simply staying open”. 30. Geo Martin says:

Well said Jon. I have to say as a Catholic myself that you understand the Catholic faith more than every Catholic I personally know!

  31. Ron Chapman says:

    G’day Jon,

    Thank you for this dialogue.

    It’s an uphill struggle mate!
We’ve been dumbed down and dehumanised for millennia.

Christ Jesus did not incarnate to establish a religion and didn’t. He came to teach divine truths lost over millennia and corrupted by Pharisees and others. The Pharisees who forced the Romans to crucify Christ Jesus also influenced Roman emperors to establish the Christian religion in a largely successful effort to eradicate Jesus’ divine revelations. For instance the Pharisees managed to eliminate hundreds of books from the Bible while getting the Talmudic Old Testament incorporated into it. That totally distorted the new religion, tainting it with the barbaric, blood sacrifice (eg metaphorically, the mass) genocidal tenets of the demonic Temple religion of the Pharisees. That demonic distortion of Jesus’ teachings has continued for two thousand years.

the Christian religion is a man-made concoction which has misdirected those seeking to understand Jesus’ message. That fact has become increasingly obvious in the actions and rhetoric of the Pope and many in the Catholic hierarchy during this century. Moreover, ‘faith’ is a personal accomplishment, it is not some objectified “apostolic Church” or “Christian religion”. EVERY ensouled HUman being (higher Universal man) is indwelt by a fragment of Creator consciousness and each HUman needs to develop his/her faith by listening to the counsel given by that indwelling God spark, not to some external religious entity.

The Gospels were written long after Christ Jesus was crucified, resuscitated and travelled to India; and the gospel of Thomas and hundreds of other relevant writings were excluded from the Bible. Moreover, the Bible wasn’t even cobbled together under the direction of Roman Emperor Constantine until about 300 years AFTER the crucifixion. In fact it isn’t certain whether the Bible was fully developed then or whether Emperor Constantine merely ordered that 50 copies of the Gospels be organised and published.

In fact, Pharisees and neo-Pharisees have censored and distorted successive iterations of Christian teachings and the Bible for two millenia, starting with the Pharisee, Saul of Tarsus (St Paul), who, contrary to Jesus’ teaching, denigrated females, subjugating them to males. Subsequently Pharisees and neo-Pharisees continued to manipulate Ecumenical Councils.

In particular, the Pharisees were not satisfied with inserting the Torah into the Bible and calling it ‘The Old Testament’. They sought to ensure that virtually all references to Jesus’ GOOD NEWS such as reincarnation and the fact that EVERY ensouled human being is indwelt by a fragment of Creator consciousness making each one an only begotten (ie unique) ‘Son of God’, were deliberately omitted from Christian teaching and deleted from the Bible.

This denial of the fact that every HUman is indwelt by a God fragment and hence sovereign and immortal was as crucial as the elimination of the truth about reincarnation. Why? Because it led to the infantilisation, and consequent fear of death,of Christian religious believers via the false doctrine that Jesus the Christ was the ONLY begotten son of God and that he sacrificed himself for the salvation of ALL of humanity. He didn’t and couldn’t. Jesus’ message was that every ensouled HUman is gifted by the Creator with a unique personality and free will and that, as a consequence, every ensouled human being is a sovereign individual responsible for his/her own decisions, evolvement and destiny. Each HUman must learn about life the universe and everything and evolve spiritually to ‘save’ self. Moreover, HUmans are eternal spirits and have eternity in which to reincarnate and complete this process.

Arguably the whole point of Creation is evolvement and “becoming”. Creation is a constant process of change and becoming. That process is obvious in relation to conscious life and especially human life.

    Peace and Blessings,

    Ron
