The Free Individual is greater than the State

In a sane society, the Bill of Rights would be studied in great detail, in every school and college.

The historical incursions on, and the crimes against, the Bill of Rights would be laid bare and excoriated.

“Grand juries” of students would be formed to investigate, in detail, these incursions and crimes, and wherever possible track them to their sources.

Reading the Bill of Rights, the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, it is plain that the natural rights of the individual are confirmed—and also, the attempt to exercise any sort of excessive power over the individual is shackled.

Why?

Because the Founders saw the handwriting on the wall, engraved for centuries in totalitarian regimes and theocracies.

Here are the basics of the Bill of Rights:

Freedom of speech, religion, and the press.

The right to bear arms.

Housing of soldiers: “No soldier shall, in time of peace, be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war but in a manner to be prescribed by law.”

Protection from unreasonable search and seizure.

Protection of rights to life, liberty, and property.

“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor; and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.”

“In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States than according to the rules of the common law.”

Excessive bails, fines, and punishments are forbidden.

“The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

What do these 10 Amendments say about the individual? They say he is of greater importance than the State.

They say the purpose of basic law is protection of the freedom of the individual.

They say that, no matter how many scurrilous critics and logic-choppers may come along and parse the Bill of Rights to their advantage and against the individual, these critics should be cast aside, at the very least.

They say that there is something potentially glorious in the individual.

They say today’s collectivists are deluded, and in many cases are consciously attempting to hijack the basic notion of freedom—and substitute instead, a plethora of free goods and services derived from the State, which collects overbearing taxes and invents money out of thin air, for the purpose of creating unfree and dependent individuals.

Most importantly, in today’s society, these 10 Amendments stand on their own, as robust and profound Ideas, no matter who first conceived them, no matter what those men’s motives may or may not have been at the time of conception.

The ideas are alive. Now.

Centers of education may promote the decimation of the Bill of Rights, may attack the primary sources, may try to wage war against these ideas, but their assault is transparent to those who can see and think.

Those little would-be dictators of the mind are themselves already slaves. And so they want to make other slaves.

Europe, whose great thinkers invented the cradle of liberty, is falling under the sway of collectivist vultures. As a group, those gnawing birds of prey are centered in the European Union, the “share and care” face of fascism.

During decades of unearthing what corrupt European and American fascists have been trying to achieve, I have seen individuals rise up from the swamp of sticky economic, political, and spiritual collectivism and reassert and regain their natural freedom.

It’s a sight to behold.

It embodies a dawn that reawakens the mind and spirit.

It’s a call to all of life.

It reestablishes the great adventure of living and making a future of one’s own choosing.

The education system blacks that out. Major media do, too.

The whole idea of public education, at the beginning, in America, was to educate children about what it meant to be a free and responsible citizen in the new Republic.

That mission was abandoned.

In the early 20th century, powerful foundations (Carnegie, at the forefront) completely derailed education by removing significant study of the founding documents of the nation. This was no accident. It was an effort to control society, to make it over in the image of worker-drones fitting into slots, for “the greatest good of the greatest number.”

From its inception, the Carnegie Foundation was consciously focused on the most effective way to control a population. Its first choice was war. In its absence, the number two method, it decided, was education.

The individual, nevertheless, still possesses his natural freedoms. These freedoms are prior to any laws enacted to confirm them.

But the individual has to find/assert those freedoms within himself, on his own.

His future rises and falls on that profound effort, which begins with recognizing he is separate from any and all forms of the collectivist “equality” glob…

    Thanks, Jon. We have a copy of The Constitution and the Bill of Rights on our desk. The Constitution has its flaws especially with added amendments, but after the Magna Carta is was the next step in freeing us of the slavery imposed upon us by tyrants.

    The Book of Revelations speaks about the Man Child. He will come to rule with an Iron Rod. He represent Freedom, first seen in the Magna Carta and then our Constitution. His Iron Rod are His Laws and Will which cannot be broken, and that is not to say He is a tyrant, but that as a people we understand that we are a part of His Body/Mind and we serve it, just as we want the cells in our bodies to serve us. We have had a glimpse of the freedom available to us once we as a people realize that we aren’t to be a threat to anyone or anything. There is no greater joy and no greater freedom. If we would but turn to God, He would but help us find the next steps to get there.

    You wrote something which has another meaning for us. “Those little would be dictators of the mind are themselves already slaves. And so they want to make other slaves” These tyrants are already lost to the Alien Mind and it is this Alien Mind who possesses those who allow it to work through them for what they hope to gain, be it money, power, etc. They are already slaves to it.

    This morning we were attacked mentally by something of the Alien Mind for thinking with our Creator, and like vampires they were upon us to drain us of our energy. We loved them and told them we would not separate ourselves from them until God decides to cast them back. With an insane madness they cursed us and left.     The Judiciary was set up to nobble the constitution and America took a downward path post-republic.

    After what happened to King James II of England a Bill of Rights was rapidly written “by” William of Orange in 1696 to protect the NOBLESS.

    The “people” are irrelevant and will always be so. Education is indoctrination.

      Australia is in worse shape than America, what are you doing to change this? Being right is little consolation when you could have done something and chosen to be an inspiration instead of a complainer.

      You may consider yourself irrelevant, but I am not. America has sunk because the people are ignorant arrogant lazy apathetic peasants, not sovereign as they were supposed to become and remain. Every day they support tyranny and use it against themselves and each other.

      I would say from my own study and practice, our constitution was written to give the peasants an opportunity to become responsible and noble. They have failed miserably and have chosen collectivism and the singularity. This is the separation of the wheat and the chaff spoken about.

        The Constitution was written to centralize and increase Power. That was the cry of the pseudo Federalists about the “weakness” of the Articles. That was the sole motivation of those delegates who remained after the initial meetings and concocted a constitution poorly written and patterned after the British. It was written by and for the Mercantilists of the time. “Peasants” had no part in it; neither suffrage nor consent.

        Anti-Federlaist Articles 26 & 27 refute your notion of “peasants.”

        Anti-Federalist Article 40:

        “…the members of the Federal Convention were men who have been all tried in the field of action, say some; they have fought for American liberty. Our constitution was based on common law and the laws of the Iroquois nation.     Apathy is the key word here. It took us 24 man hours to fight against a traffic ticket 7 years ago. We prevailed. Why? Because the national Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land. But it takes time to research and apply/enforce your rights. This is something most Americans will not do, just yet. Most people hear something like this and cannot fathom taking that much time to fight a MVD citation. The point is, the government is perpetrating a fraud upon the public and we need to all ban together to stop the tyranny. The solution is found within the Constitution.

    The ensuing Articles of the B of R were written and proposed to State legislators. Written by whom?

    A majority of the Federal Congress concurred and the Bill was ratified as an amendment to the Constitution.

    Who wrote them?
    Who proposed them?
    Who made them binding at the Federal level?
    Who is it that can unbind them?

    The Declaration of Independence defines those Rights as self-existing in Man. They need no concurrence nor decree from a government body. Since when did the Constitution have any teeth in it with which to curtail despotism? Is it a construct of Liberty to require the citizenry to incessantly police their representatives? The experimental Republic claimed to be the result of the Constitutional Convention was supposedly intended to obviate such an expediency.

    But the watch-dog of the Federal government, the Senate, tasked with preventing incursion upon the B of R, has failed in its mission from the get-go, as prognosticated in the Anti-Federalist papers.

    Our government was never what we have been indoctrinated to believe. Dissent then, as it is today, was hushed up and the whole business was crammed down the throats of the citizenry in spite of their trepidation and resistance. Government is like marriage. The tone and temper of marital life is established during the courtship, and never gets better than the moment the license is executed.

      It is the people who were given the power over the creature of government and have failed in this experiment to give peasants the status of sovereign, so globalists are slowly taking this experiment back, with the support of the same stupid humans. Its called communism, aka collectivism aka the singularity. Humans have created a false culture of taking and lack, both which are now considered normal and necessary, due to someone else’s “privilege”. Humans have continued to produce generation after generation of weaker and whinier takers. Now envy and bitterness is the norm. Hence the popularity of communism.

      Your question about how the constitution can curtail tyranny is foolish. Perhaps these quotes will answer your question.

      A republic is not an easy form of government to live under, and when the responsibility of citizenship is evaded, democracy decays and authoritarianism takes over. Earl Warren, “A Republic, If You Can Keep It”, p 13.

      The laws of nature are the laws of God, whose authority can be superseded by no power on earth. A legislature must not obstruct our obedience to him from whose punishments they cannot protect us. All human constitutions which contradict his cannot protect us. All human constitutions which contradict his (God’s) laws, we are in conscience bound to disobey. 1772, Robin v. Hardaway, 1 Jefferson 109.

      Does it bother you that you must be vigilant, awake, aware and intelligent? If you lived in a jungle, the same qualities would apply. Freedom is not free, ever heard that before? It requires responsibility, diligence, hard work. A gardener knows hard work and is not afraid of it. They do it for the love of life, and of self. They understand the vital connection to life, and All That Is.
      Perhaps you know nothing of a labor of love. Perhaps you support communism and a magic solution that requires no effort to solve everyone’s problems that does not exist.
      Perhaps you take it personally and get angry when I call out those who are lazy and apathetic? Instead of blaming the 1% like those of victim consciousness do?

      Responsibility is empowering, it says yes there is always a solution. Yes I can creates greatness and it is our birthright. It can also be scary to those who lack self worth and were indoctrinated into falsehoods of power being outside themselves.

      Funny you speak of marriage. In order to have a worthy partner, you must be worthy as well. A good, healthy marriage requires work,respect,love and care; something you have expressed resistance to. Are the corrupt people of today worthy of an honorable government? Obviously not. Who was it that said the people deserve their government?

      Jon again speaks the truth in this very important blog he has written. The truth shall set you free. Is freedom something you desire or not? How much is it worth to you, or anyone reading this? Patrick Henry made a powerful statement about liberty. Maybe you have heard it. Perhaps meditating on it shall give you some new insights, instead of looking outside yourself for answers.
