The law of attraction is the New Age version of the Surveillance State

The so-called law of attraction: like attracts like.

If you’re thinking about good outcomes, that’s what you get. If you’re thinking about negative outcomes, you get those.

Positive thoughts=positive things happen for you. Negative thoughts=negative things happen for you.

A few New Age prophets even go so far as this: we’re entering a whole new era, in which whatever you think will instantly manifest itself in the world; therefore, negative thoughts are dangerous; only those people who have purified themselves to the point where they’re exclusively thinking positive thoughts will make it through into paradise. The rest will be left behind to suffer.

First of all, policing your own thoughts is like trying to catch every drop of rain in a thunderstorm. It’s obviously impossible. So the lunatic task of purifying your thoughts is a fool’s errand from the outset.

More importantly, the manifestation of outcomes and realities in the world isn’t about “having good thoughts.” Nor is it about trying to avoid “bad thoughts.”

Thoughts are thoughts. They come in all shapes and sizes. You can program a robot to think only “good thoughts,” but a human is quite different.

The law of attraction is a PASSIVE formulation.

Out of the 2456 trillion thoughts you could have or experience, the ones that count are those you form and choose yourself to lead to ACTION. The rest don’t matter. They’re irrelevant. They don’t produce anything.

But when people cling to the law of attraction like a lifeboat, they’re enacting a surveillance state on their own minds. They’re the NSA of their own mental activity.

And like the NSA, their overall spying effort is targeting meaningless activity.

Consciousness is free. Policing it is self-sabotage.

I’m a cop on the beat. My territory is my own mind. I make sure only the good guys last. I squash the bad guys.” This is nothing short of self-imposed MKULTRA. And it doesn’t cost the government a cent. People do it to themselves.

Exit From the Matrix

On the other hand, the creative life is an ongoing, intense, thrilling enterprise of mind, body, soul, and imagination. It has no formula. It has no pre-set system.

Comparing its manifesting effects in the world to the law of attraction is like comparing a burning sun to a 10-watt bulb.

The law of attraction, from the start, is paying attention to a tiny forest of sputtering energies. It’s trying to negotiate between the good little sputters and the bad little sputters—neither of which are really good or bad or important.

The primary action of consciousness is CREATING. In that effort, if all the sputters play any role at all, it’s to be transmuted into raw fuel for the fire.

Hocus Pocus! The “creative” solution is all about FREEDOM OF CHOICE & the joys of synchronicity…What about LOVE in the “equation” of manifestation?

There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. – William Shakespeare

In order to be able to think ‘good’ and/or ‘bad’ these concepts are a requirement. Concepts form languages.

Brainwashing, conditioning, belief systems are, for one, language itself the languages themselves.

One can only use the ‘language’ tools one has to think with.

The phenomenon Charles Robert Darwin in the ‘On the Origin of Species*’ – (On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life) neglects to integrate the implications of, for instance ‘The Blind Spot**’ into his theory, a mental construct based on the English language beliefs.

It is a possibility to believe this mental construct of Charles Darwin, a necessity it is not. After all, if the English language beliefs are a mystery, ‘On the Origin of Species’ will also be a mystery.

I appreciate Yogi Bhajan’s discourses on The Mind, a series of lectures, which has far deeper roots and much more incisive revelations than Jon R.’s offering in this post.

Judging “Good” and “Bad” already reeks of duality — heck, duality squared and triangulated, power [LOVE is the channel through which POWER moves.], eviserated, strangled, and thus mitigated. All kinds of vibrational polarity inherent in our spiritual experience as human beings manifest first below conscious awareness, then seep up, erupt up, explode, and otherwise mar one’s appreciation of a fine, quiet day in the country, wherein all is whole, happy, and healthy.

ALL thought is creative, however, whether we appreciate that consciously in the here & now or not. The parable of the Sower attributed to Jesus in the New Testament tells the tale well, too. Whether a thought manifests strikingly in 3D/4D, as some speak of this, depends on too many factors for each individual at any given moment than most can comprehend, much less manage. Most people the least bit spiritual I know do indeed employ “wishful thinking” — or worse! — in their attempt to pray (as in “Ask, believing, ye shall receive.”).

Most of us, during some portion of our day, probably “feed the Beast”, too. Enmity serves as well as does empathy in feeding energy to the very source of our reactions. Why” Be cause — and FIND OUT!

Happiness runs in a circular motion
Thought is like a little boat upon the sea
Everybody is a part of everything anyway
You can have everything if you let yourself be

    Happiness runs, happiness runs
    Happiness runs, happiness runs
    Happiness runs, happiness runs
    Happiness runs, happiness runs

    Why-0? Be cause.
    Why-0? Be cause.
    Why-0? Be cause.
    Why-0? Be cause.

Blessings to all who encounter this site, by design or chance.

Well, Jeanne, while we busy being told to love everybody ( New Age) — Hillary and the gang are plotting our demise … law of awareness first!

I would disagree with Rapaport here for the first time ever.

The Law of Attraction, or creation is real. It is working whether you want it to or not. Whenever I focus on anything for any length of time with intent or emotion, synchronistic things later begin to show up in my life to support that thinking.

That’s how the quantum energy field works. It takes your predominant or chronic thoughts or way of thinking and brings experiences back to you. If you think money is evil then you will never have much of it. If you habitually think you don’t have what it takes to meet your ideal mate then you run the strong risk of not ever finding that.

Obviously, there are strange occurrences. However, there will always be the need of the narcissist to explain these things from their perspective and then force their version onto others. I worry allot about the interpretations and how this will manifest.

It says in the book of revelations, in the end times, Satan will get people to believe a big lie and the whole world is deceived. I wonder if its not this whole “law of attraction”.

Certainly our thoughts can manifest. I have seen these synchronicities and certainly there is a higher power then myself involved interacting with my own psyche.

Humanity is a balance of forces. The law of attraction folks want to throw humanity out with the bath water. If you watch them in action you can see their sanity slip away as well.

I see it more as the illuminist mental strait jacket against opposition and their exposure. Certainly, it could be Satan laughing in the side line.

  7. bob klinck says:

It is standard practice for aspirants to social control to insist on everyone being “positive” and participating endlessly in group activity; i.e., subsuming individual initiative in groups, which inevitably compromises the functioning of personal will. In fact, individuality (which is basically another word for freedom) is protected only when the possibility of negativity is assured.

Not that there is anything wrong with associating in groups–as long as the “negative” right to contract out exists. The international order reveals its collectivist conspiratorial pedigree by the consistency and relentlessness of its attacks upon this precious right

  8. MachtNichts says:

And I always thought opposites attract, like in electrical currents. You need a plus and a minus to make it work.

Darwin was a tool, and you can’t have the ‘good’ without the ‘bad’. That doesn’t reek of duality, it is duality. This is what we’re dealing with on our beautiful planet. Trying to transcend duality in our present circumstances is a fool’s errand in my opinion.

Think your trillion thoughts, discard and choose. But, mind you, not all your thoughts are your own.

    Like? – Don’t like?

  9. Afshin Nejat says:

People talk about creativity and love, but no one talks about truth and justice. You talk about power and choice, but you don’t talk about goodness and righteousness. I’m convinced it’s because the latter in each case are not in you, and you cannot comprehend them. Yes, the New Age Hustle, as I call it, is a joke. But you have not offered a proper alternative.

Such sanity is food for my very soul! Thank you!!

  11. Jeanne Scoville says:

Anonymous, The “LOVE” I referred to above has nothing to do with the “New Age”, but more to do with AGAPE & a genuine respect for others via the “Golden Rule”. From my point of view, the “New Age” movement became a dogmatic & misguided control/belief system that became quite distorted. Unfortunately, it gave “real love” a bad rap…The Dalai Lama says it best when he refers to “Lovingkindness”…Yes, awareness is crucial…

  12. Jamal Saidi says:

“A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.” Mahatma Ghandi.

  13. Congrats on your blog! This post hits the nail on the head! 🙂 It is true that it is very difficult not to say impossible to control all our thoughts.. These kinds of new age gurus are sitting on a grey area in which is very hard to argue with them.. To me, to have good feelings with regards to your thoughts is the key to achieve or become in whatever someone wants to.. Do you agree with me?

    All the best

  14. While I disagree with Rappoport on several points, there is one area in which I do agree. We cannot purge our mind of all negative thoughts, and to attempt to monitor every thought and change it would be exhausting and prevent one from doing anything else. The Law of Attraction does work–whether we believe in it or not, whether we attract “good” or “bad” into our lives, it does work. Just as we can learn from other universal laws and achieve the seemingly impossible, so we can by studying and practicing Law of Attraction techniques. Throughout most of history we were told that man could not fly. When the law of gravity was “discovered” many learned individuals used it as proof that we could not fly. It was because people decided to believe in the possibility of something that they were able to make it so. We do not need to monitor every thought. We do need to focus our attention on what we want to achieve and receive into our lives–and yes, there may be actions that we need to take as well. The Law of Attraction is hardly passive. Flight did not happen only with thought; flight happened because of inspired action that was in alignment with the thought.

It’s difficult to say much “positive” about New Age philosophies except that the rush of Lemmings in those directions clearly demonstrates a Journey that isn’t worth making by half… but does provide humorous drama for Watchers. Mind control within the Matrix produces nothing except more illusion and delusion when the real goal is to be free of the Monkey-mind that believes that stuff in the first place. Consciousness is the requirement for any real Spiritual advancement and the Way to it has been clearly established throughout history, thus, old school remains the only way for those who expect to make miracles happen.

  16. roberta4949 says:

this sounds so much like buddahism, where you quell all earthly desire to attain nivarna, or something like that. or that movie in star trek we are the borg you will be assimulated. this new age stuff sounds like the old in a new package. if your thoughts brought you good or bad surly I would be dead by now as my thoughts over the years have been one of negative and unhappiness due to my health problems. so obviously your thoughts do not manifest in reality unless it is something you actually act on to make it happen if it is even possible to do so. yoga where you empty your mind of all thoughts (thus holding a blank?) do you know jesus used a illustration of how demons will occupy homes that are swept clean and empty. he was referring of course to our minds and hearts, if we dont put something good into it surly the demons will be very happy to put something bad into it. we must control our minds otherwise someone else will do it for us and they most likly will not have our best at heart.
