Facebook censorship: the grotesque mainstream solution

Facebook censorship: the grotesque mainstream solution

by Jon Rappoport

April 11, 2018

The problem with Facebook started a long time ago. They used their money to promote their social media operations, and tons of users jumped on board, believing that conventional rules of free speech applied.

That was a mistake.

The mistake was on the level of believing the military-industrial complex is only interested in legitimate defense of the nation; or believing the pharmaceutical industry is only interested in alleviating existing illness with safe drugs.

Some lawyers and scholars are trying to “correct” Facebook. But beware: most of them are arguing that, since the Internet is a new platform, far beyond the ability of the Founding Fathers to have anticipated, we now have to change the meaning of the 1st Amendment, in order to make social media “more responsible” about the content they permit. In other words, Facebook should eliminate “more fake news.” This is the road to disaster, as any sane person can see.

Who decides what is fake? Government appointed fact checkers? The CIA? Either of the two major political parties? A biased hate speech organization?

These scholars and attorneys want social media to be defined as “public square, town hall, news media”—but not so public that all political views are allowed through the door. No. They only want “reasonable” content, to protect “robust debate in a democracy.” This is pure baloney.

We’re also seeing increasing calls for government regulation of social media. This means more censorship. We’re witnessing that in California, where State Senator Richard Pan has introduced a bill (SB 1424), designed to force all Internet activity based in California to use designated fact checkers and issue warnings about fake news.

It may seem like a good move to redefine social media giants as “more than private companies,” but that direction is dangerous. In the main, it’s not being shaped by true free-speech advocates, it’s controlled by mainstream operatives who want their news to dominate the scene.

A 10/11/17 Wired article contains this stunning piece: “’You cannot run a democratic system unless you have a well-informed public, or a public prepared to defer to well-informed elites,’ says Larry Kramer, president of the Hewlett Foundation and an expert in constitutional law. ‘And we are now rapidly heading toward neither. Without one or the other, our constitutional system and our liberal democracy will end, perhaps not imminently, but over time’.”

Defer to well-informed elites? Really? This is the mainstream argument right out in the open: The vaunted traditional news outlets speak the truth and we must listen to them. We must censor all the extraneous “noise” on the Internet. The NY Times and the Washington Post and CNN and CBS would never lie. They vet their stories and fact check them. They are objective. They light the lamp of truth and point the way. They protect democracy.

To mainstream scholars, improving social media means destroying the 1st Amendment under the guise of “adjusting and updating it.”

Eliminating hate speech includes censoring material that contradicts the “progressive culture” on issues like immigration, open borders, gun control, vaccination, and gender identity.

“Free speech” is replaced by “better speech.”

“I don’t like what you say” is replaced by “you have no right to say it.”

The very popular pro-Trump Diamond and Silk duo recently reacted to Facebook censorship: “…giving us the run around, Facebook gave us another bogus reason why Millions of people who have liked and/or followed our page no longer receives notification and why our page, post and video reach was reduced by a very large percentage. Here is the reply from Facebook. Thu, Apr 5, 2018 at 3:40 PM: ‘The Policy team has come to the conclusion that your content and your brand has been determined unsafe to the community’.”

I guess Diamond and Silk are part of the dangerous noise that distracts the American people from “responsible journalism” so necessary to maintaining a robust democracy.

Yes, that must be it.

As far as I can tell, the following quote about the news was written before the Internet and Facebook existed, and therefore—heaven forbid—was actually aimed at mainstream sources:

“Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle. The real extent of this state of misinformation is known only to those who are in situations to confront facts within their knowledge with the lies of the day. . . . I will add, that the man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them; inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods & errors.” (Thomas Jefferson, June 11, 1807)

Censor Jefferson! He’s contributing to doubt and disbelief in our most trusted streams of information. Ban him from Facebook! He’s unsafe to the community. He’s a corrosive influence. He’s obstructing democracy. He’s a conspiracy lunatic. The new and improved 1st Amendment doesn’t protect him. How can we conduct intelligent and proper debate on serious matters in the face of such blanket condemnations which he spews?

Yes, ban him, so we can be safe again.

Easy to regulate FB Google Youtube as old fashioned Phone companies. Agnostic to content.Internet is only glorified phone companies.
And frequent warnings when one is about to like or send something— a dialog box should warn
that Your data entry next mouse click could go to—
    1 numerous undisclosed 3rd parties,
    2 foreign powers,
    3 domestic intelligence agencies
4 It could destroy your vocational career
5 Could be used against you in elections.

It would function like health warnings on cigarette packets — frequent reminders rather than remembering an obscure legalese unread signup page from yrs ago..

Golly how do I manage to write this in plain English ? Its so unfacebook. LOL

FB are guilty of treating customers especially young ones, like natives initially contacting first world people and being given beads and hatchets, with the natives having no idea of what they are really buying into.

    • Exactly. Many just tick the “agree” button on the agreement without reading everything ! I’ve done it myself although I usually have a quick glance through on the more major sites to check I’m not signing my life away to some African slave trader or something. But FB and Co are equally guilty of deliberately creating the social media net as some kind of children’s playground where everyone can remain totally safe 24 hours a day. Where have the days gone of having “A guide to the internet” which I remember reading in the mid 1990’s. This guide (still trying to find it again, I think it was some canonical document on a Usenet group, alt.internet ?) came up with gems like “WIKID” – read in reverse … Data, Information, Knowledge, Intelligence, Wisdom … an entire guide about how to check “fake news” (and I mean “their” fake news as well) in a single acronym years before the term fake news was even invented.

If you inhabit Facebook, you hate personal liberty and despise personal privacy. You are complicit in facilitating a police state technocracy. In other words you are a fool, probably uninformed about reality and a group thought cult member who is self absorbed within the vapidness of a society which is seeking a dystopia.

These techno geeks/wannabe dictators of information such as Zuckerberg have created their own fantasy world and surrounded themselves with illogic driven sycophants, creatures who have now only one god, the technocracy. Trusting Zuckerberg is like trusting Satan himself.

Sitting there so arrogantly before congress speaking in riddles and gibberish, this is what passes for genius today? Somebody who fabricates and propagates liberal utopian propaganda ad nauseum. A brain dead dolt worth billions who preaches to the world about how great his monopolistic spy agency is for mankind. God help us all for this is what is now considered a success in society. Censoring free speech has become matter of fact to liberal fascists. Their normalization of the outrageous is becoming mind numbing to see.

What a sick and twisted world we live in today. This demonic creature sat there and talked about how AI was going to be so helpful. You people better wake up, these technocrats in silicon valley are planning the biggest coupe in the history of the world: the theft of humanity and the destruction of individual souls, wishing to eliminate your God given right to think, to dream and to choose your own destiny.

Keep worshipping this technocracy while ignoring its nefarious schemes and underlying surveillance claws and you will soon be existing as nothing but a slave. I spit on Zuckerberg and all who worship at the altar of the demonic entity known as Facebook.

Did anybody ask the boy blunder, why does it take an act of God to finally delete your account once and for all at Facebook? I hear if you wish to do this, it is almost impossible to get done. Sick, vile and evil, Facebook was and is a tool of Satan.

    • Steve Trueblue says:

Uncertain what AI really means– Isn’t it just lines of computer code? It seems to be regarded as almost a creatable God. Eric Schmidt said his AI would rule the world better than people till he was hit with Trumps exec order regarding corruption and human trafficking. Resigned so hurriedly. So unGodlike and 200 other CEOs to boot.

      • “AI” is their holy grail and, amusingly, is displayed to anyone with a soul as indicator of their deep stupidity. They (Technocrats, Scientism) threw out Freud and Jung years ago. They suppress Rupert Sheldrake and other parapsychology (really just normal psychology) researchers because it conflicts with their dream of being able to recreate a copy of the assumed biological machine basis of the the brain and hence consciousness. It will all collapse one day, just as the promised “cure the cancer” is never delivered the public’s patience will run out and Scientism will go the way of forgotten religious movements.

    • redneckdavinci says:

I didn’t find his answers to be gibberish at all. He was quite openly stating (in his best android legal program mode) that he would be more than happy to work with the government to secure his place in the industry and to openly weaponize the internet. That legislation he doth protest so loudly, he will regrettably assist in implementing.

    “Pure baloney?”

Creepy pedophile child groper Joe Biden would say “pure malarkey,” but, I quibble.

  4. Steve Trueblue says:

FB is now identified as a dangerous third party between electorates and governments that can derail voting patterns. Governments of all colours will want to defang FB. Especially since Hillary lost with FB Google and Youtube entirely on her side. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

  5. sundancer55 says:

There is a rumor that at some point later on in his life, Zuck wants to run for President. (LOL!!!) Do people honestly think he is not going to use his own company as a platform for his political benefit? Ha, surely no one truly believes he won’t.

As far as I can see, the best way to avoid all of this nonese is just to never join fb in the first place or to just stop using your page and be done with the whole mess. Nobody cares what you had for breakfast or what you plan to do for some upcoming holiday. I see fb as nothing more than a large gossip center. People don’t have better things to do???

The real issue is this. Everything else is just one level below. Without free speech, all we have is fake news.

  7. truth1 says:

So we went from being responsible to making Facebook responsible. Why are were no longer responsible for ourselves. Who took it away from us. This is all just an excuse for martial law. We have always been responsible. We just did not live up to it and act it. Why are we not punished as individuals? We are not, because they want to justify censorship. If I tried for calling someone a name, lets say poo poo pants. Could you really punish me for that free speech, as pathetic as it is? NO! and that’s the point. Free speech does not allow individual censorship. So then, lets blame the individual thru social media, saying these are not community guide lines of good behavior so you social media giants have to be responsible for all speech. Well, that violates the Bill of RIGHTS regarding free speech. I do not care how it is cloaked, no government has a right to force any company to enforce any rules on speech and ideas.

Free speech is fully sanctioned and reserved, by law ratified, and can not be interfered with , by anyone or any corporation or online social media or anything else. In fact, any social media company that does interfere with free speech should be taken to court in a class action suit and made to pay dearly. There is no situation that has any rights to oppose free speech. Not party or corporation is allowed to subvert and overthrow our nation and its fundamental documents of our foundations, all agreed upon near to our founding of 1776 In the Declaration of Independence and the ensuing Bill of rights.

Now the subversion could be of a subtle slow progressive type that is not very overt or obvious, but still just as wrong reprehensible and still within the reach of prosecution, and if proved, punishable by what is prescribed. And for treason of such things, the penalty is death. And of course, overt and plainly manifest subversion also brings the same penalty. Only problem is, we are all asleep and turned our rights over to Facebook and Google and Youtube. Technically, any corporation doing what these do, which is over throwing our rights of free speech, the voting officers and stock holders, who own and are responsible for their corporation, should all be lead to the gallows for hanging. FACT! They practicing subversion and overthrow of our rights.

But we are long past enforcing the Bill of rights. Quietly and silently we started up standing armies and allowed these to continue in times of peace, “just in case,” and justified ever greater military technology that can now be used against us, to the overthrow of the Bill of rights et al. Lights out boys and girls. The party is over. We are now slaves and “they” got the military power to enforce it.

  8. Erika says:

Call me stupid, but i am having trouble understanding WHY Facebook is somehow RESPONSIBLE FOR NATIONAL SECURITY. They are dressing down Zuckerberg (who i admit disliking) as though it was HIS COMPANY’S job to make sure it’s services and data were not used by foreign agents..

    What?

I thought that was what the $1.5 Trillion security state was supposed to be doing..
    Silly me.

The security state is too busy with its 8000 military installations spread out all over the globe, trying to insure globalization rather than protecting americans from anything.
Why are we paying for these fools again?

    • sundancer55 says:

Well, our inept NSA is too busy watching porn to worry about actually monitoring “security issues”. But fb allows people to post the instructions for how to make and use “homemade” bombs. Yet they ban Diamond and Silk because they were deemed “unsafe to the community” whatever the hell that means.

This is partly why Zuck is in the hotseat, I believe. I’ve never been on fb and never wanted to be on any social media sites other than a few comment sections like this one. I had to laugh because young people are mostly the ones who just aren’t getting what it’s all about because they do not care about details – one 14 year old girl wrote (it was quoted in an article at American Thinker or one of those blog “news” sites) that she was mad at fb so she was gonna drop it and sign up with instagram. What she doesn’t understand is that instagram is also owned by Zuck.

Personally, I think the entire “social media” thing was cooked up by our gubmint and that Zuck and the other “head honchos” are nothing more than placeholders.

      • Erika says:

IF social media wasn’t cooked up by gubmint it is certainly their tool NOW. For years folks have pressured me to get a facebook account, and i knew it was being used to scoop data and refused..Now that the ZuckPluck has hit the headlines friends actually understand WHY i took the stance i did . (that and i find Facebook damn annoying)

The truth is that The Alt-right and Republicans have far more money than populist causes, and Facebook and Youtube have to treat these little SNOWFLAKES with kid gloves or ignite a firestorm of fake scandal…the whole Diamond and Silk lil snowflake tantrum was a political diversion from actual real issues and was in fact COMPLETELY FAKE.

Why should Ted Cruz care a whit about this – HE uses fb, too, and so does his family (or so he has said in the past). This was all strictly theatre.

      • Larry says:

It’s ALL theatre…unfortunately however, the fairy tales pumped out by The Fake News, can result in the most dire repercussions.

The current psy-op being trotted out by the Elite Controllers (aka The Deep State) to gin up a fresh conflict with the Russians (spoon-fed to the citizenry by their compliant mouthpiece, the Mainstream Media and their wholly-owned subsidiary – The United States Congress), has brought us closer to a Nuclear Armegeddon than at any time during the so-called Cold War.

If you have his ear, you might ask a small favor of The Big Guy Upstairs:

        HELLLLP!!!!

        • sundancer55 says:

@ Larry: Well, I don’t know how much pull I have with the big guy, but I ask/pray regularly for him to help guide President Trump in his decisions. So far he’s doing pretty well and his approval rating has now gone past the 50% mark so that is a very good sign. We all certainly have to keep asking, though, because I think Trump is having the most diffucult presidency ever – there are so many issues and BIG things going on it must be difficult for him to concentrate on any one topic for very long.

I regularly pray for his family members, as well, because the media has them all in the crosshairs all the time and there’s nothing they won’t stoop to doing to shed a bad light on everything Trump. How sad.

I know what you mean, but I think you really can’t ever get rid of Farce Book. I felt the same way with ScrewTube too. I just got tired of being censored all the time. For that matter any of them so call “Social Media” are forever. Well see how the hearings go. They really fired that little shit head punk Zuckerberg today. But he’s just an ass clown.

      • Zuckerberg to me is a front man. Thanks for your positive feedback. It’s been great to be off of FaceBook, it feels like I got my life back.

  14. Jon

I read your earlier piece about legislation for internet censorship and disagree with outcome scenarios vehemently. To make prosecutions “en masse” would rock the apple cart so hard, it would turn it over.

    Their message is this:

    “Everyone’s OK”

“A couple of nasties occasionally pollute order, but we keep them in check”.

The people, for their part in this neat little arrangement, love “grades of” bullshit. They hate truth, otherwise the equilibrium would have collapsed years ago. The Sex Pistols told it as it was in the 1980’s and no one gave a damn then. No one gives a damn now.

Facebook is a glorious corporate experiment about being “right”. Everyone, every user is “right”. It doesn’t matter what the message is, whether it is bullshit or truth or anywhere in between. If everyone’s right, then everyone’s “OK”. Get it?

Of course, the high profile agencies: TV, newspapers that circulate to millions, radio, theatre, “best selling” books any source with “presence”, well that’s where we could see a configured effort to clamp down on “fake news” (sic).

Everyone else – the “little people” can stay OK.

    Best

  15. I was thinking about this this morning as soon as a I woke up. How does someone decide what info is legit and what info is not legit ? Is it just the media that drives the debate ? There’s at least one exception that disproves the rule. Take the BBC. They are not funded by pharma advertising or advertising related to pharma and yet, on the most part, they tow the party line on the safety of psych drugs. Then I started considering Rupert Sheldrake’s Morphogenetic Fields. How much of secular, badly informed, autistic, modern Western society is driven by a literal collective consciousness? More than a psychological group think, I mean literal physical collective mind. Anyway just a (hopefully individual) thought.

  16. floridaborne says:

What I believe we are seeing with Diamond and Silk is another attack on Trump through those who have helped him increase his votes when he was a presidential candidate.

One of the things that made me shudder when I listened to Zuckerberg was the way he used the word “Terrorist” when answering Cruz’s questions. I believe that he looks at conservative’s as terrorists, and censorship is his way of eliminating the threat the corporatocracy.

  17. Larry says:
