Occult Man and his search for his true nature

The word “occult” is frequently associated with some secret society, and it is given a negative twist by pitting it against organized “clean” religion or “totally rational” science.
But the Latin root of the word comes from the verb, “to hide.” That’s all.
Occult Man means man who is hiding something. And it really means man who is hiding something from himself.
What would that be?
Occult man is hiding his true nature from himself.
In order to discover what that true nature is, he would already need to be free from the belief that he owes his time, energy, and life to another person or an idea. He would need to be free from the self-debasing concept of spiritual debt—regardless of how fashionable it might be to incur (or pretend to incur) such a negative balance sheet.
Legion are those who invent these “debt scenarios” for themselves, and they rarely give them up, regardless of the consequences. They prefer to imagine they “win by losing.”
When Occult Man embarks on the journey to find his true nature, he enters a labyrinth. Sooner or later, he needs to realize the maze is composed of all possible answers to his self-inquiry. How to choose one answer above all others? How to discern?
Nevertheless, despite the difficulties, he will choose. He will clutch an answer, he will adopt it, and he will begin to live on that basis. He will say, “This is my true nature,” he will climb into that conveyance and drive it down the road.
After a certain period, he will see its limitations, he will experience first-hand the pressure of those restrictions, and he will look for a more inclusive answer to his inquiry.
As this process of accepting, testing, and rejecting answers continues, he will become aware that each solution to what-is-my-true-nature gives birth to a space that is defined—and his primary role is to fit himself into that space.
In the majority of cases, Occult Man eventually talks himself into accepting a space and learning how to adapt to his position in it. It is as if, all along, he has been asking himself, “What is my place?”
Relatively few people are prepared to admit this is a loaded question. They would rather adhere to one of thousands of “philosophies” which are determined to tell Occult Man what his place is.
According to this sort of guidance, Occult Man is supposed to take pride in finding that place.
For those who can avoid this end, there remains a less-defined path. “Where do I go? What do I do? What am I looking for?”
What about looking within? As interesting as this option may seem, and as rooted in tradition, what results does it confer?
Either Occult Man looks within and sees, disappointingly, spaces populated by random objects and ideas, or he presupposes what he is going to discover, and then discovers it. Needless to say, such sleight of hand isn’t the means for finding his true nature.
What now?
Now we come to the threshold of a shift into another dimension of experience. Regardless of how long the journey has taken so far, now Occult Man begins to examine his very role as the searcher. The seeker. The discoverer.
Is the whole paradigm of questioner-question-answer able to yield up the effect of finding his true nature?
At every turn, it seems as if he’s been looking for some sort of content or material or information that will unlock the door.
All along, he has been searching for some kind of reality that is already there. A deeper reality, a more elevated reality. Concealed, out of view. Hidden.
Which is why he is Occult Man. Because of the way he has been proceeding.
But suppose…there is no such hidden reality which is his true nature. Suppose that is the cosmic joke.
And suppose, instead, he is the maker of realities.
Suppose that is his true nature.
Suppose that is the secret.
Suppose every question about existence he has ever had will yield up answers once he becomes a maker of realities.
Suppose every self-deception and every cynical conclusion about his life he has ever entertained is a cover for: refusing to see he is a maker of realities.
Suppose thinking about projecting realities is far, far different from actually projecting realities that are closest to his deepest desires, and making those realities fact in the world.

dreams showed me a starkly true reflection of myself, with about 3 years following of what seemed to wash up original experiences as they had taken place, without any definitions made about them at the time. A new experience for what it had been at the time. Another dream then, showed me the questions I was asking,of others, of books, but not of myself. It started me asking my questions into myself. Then, a pivotal dream came next, where I was a spirit looking on, and being asked my own questions. From then on, I went on in connecting to my own mind,—soul (or conscience) —-body —-with my spririt getting me to function of a whole. Finally, I was above my own body, soul, mind AND spirit, as just being myself, That was in 1962.
The occult man is a rare peson, an explorer in life that understands who he is and understands that he or she knows that they are meant to solve this wonderful grand mystery of life by their self, they want learn by making their own mistakes, not someone elses, they detest having some other human leading them by the nose, and telling them their body is not their own, to do as they wish with, as long as it hurts no other.

You know what you are talking about. No one should be a believer, or a follower, to others, of course. Then, we can be friends. Our creator created each and all of us. And everything else too.
In the middle of writing a book some years ago analyzing Christian theology, I realized to my astonishment that the concept of spiritual debt had to go. It is an error, because it makes no sense – a mixed metaphor at best. “Spiritual debt” is akin to “a gallon of electricity.” The Reformation was supposed to set things right, but it only made things worse. The Catholics believed you could pay off the debt, but then Luther and Calvin came along and said, no you can’t because it is infinite. Then it’s not really a debt anymore – it is more like a blackmailer who keeps coming back for more money.
It took some time to deprogram myself from this concept, having been brought up Catholic, then converted to Protestantism. But, I still think the New Testament makes sense if you don’t insist on taking every turn of phrase literally. You could say that Jesus was an occult man – he said many times that his sayings were hidden from those who did not have ears to hear.
that’s a seriously good point, greg. the letting go of all spiritual debt would be huge. the ripple effect of the transcendent liberation could be tantamount to that of the realization ‘i am not my body’.

It’s interesting in that upon mention of “spiritual debt” I automatically thought of “karma” which is the eastern version of debt and of course the excuse for reincarnation. Some current “out of the box” thinking has it that the reincarnation process is actually a trap, that uses extra dimensional entities to manipulate souls into returning to earth using (among others) the “karmic debt” concept. Wes Penre has written extensively about this idea and the question of who ultimately runs this asylum.
When you practice eastern philosophy, and learn that the western definition of karma is incorrect, it does not mean debt, it is easier to remove this belief. It is simply data (in terms of Dr Hew Lin) or thought forms and patterns. Sin is another word that simply means ignorance or unawareness. The mind is always in this state, and you simply have to step out of the mind into the no mind where masterhood and being a creator reside. Everything is just energy and resonation
To invert these definitions creates control and manipulation, which was its purpose. How can anyone who feels guilty and bad ever create anything beautiful? Think of all the lives wasted on following so much nonsense that amounts to nothing. Being told to chase your tail like everyone else or you will be rejected and punished. This just profits the corporations who then hand out pills to make these same unfortunate creatures numb and easily led.
There are many wise gems in the bible, such as the kingdom of god is within. Parables given are like other teachings, everyone will get out of it whatever current level of understanding they are at, as it should be.
If “Occult Man” takes a more causative role (which is the only thing that can possibly free him) in his existence the resulting confusion is overwhelming. This is because he’s based his views on the falsehood that “he is not responsible”. The think is that it’s easier to plug in a preconceived notion and follow the advice of those that claim they “know” and leave it to the experts. This is the lazy way to go. Man needs to simply face up to the realities that exist instead of falling into a preset pattern or some false ideology for a feeling of false security. This is a “push button” existence where he’s not pushing the buttons. A good example would be Occult Man’s penchant to assign responsibility to the medical “Doctor” for all his health concerns. After all, if he were to take responsibility for his physical condition he’d have to face up to learning something about the subject and everybody knows that this is impossible, doctors go through years of training, so why should he even begin to try to figure it out. He’s in a state continual overwhelm because apparently this is an easy way out. The problem is that he’s painted himself into a corner because now he’s subject to being easily manipulated by “authorities”. You see this in all aspects of life; follow the doctors orders, be a fan of the most popular political group, adhere to the prescribed religious doctrine…
I would say that the use of the word in Latin is “hidden” rather than “to hide”, Jon.
This places a very different meaning on “occult”. How would “the group” react to hidden sovereigns. The stem “cult” means grow. Therefore the word means, shielded from others, you can grow spiritually.

I have the questions raised in this article myself for years. However, I am still unable to project realities myself. Why is this so? How do I do it?
Think how you want another person to see you, or what you are doing,—–or not to noitce it. then realize others do this all the time too, and it hooks you or you see through it. That is being done all the time, and Jon wants us to realize it, that we do it, and others do it, and it affects one another. But, if we can just be who we are, with the idea we are going to discover and explore, not project it, what can come across is our own power and our own presence.

As a daily guide I have found “The Four Agreements” by Miguel Ruiz invaluable. As an inner guide, I love the works of Rupert Spira – if ever I have seen Truth, it is in his manner.
I also love the four agreements, I thought of it when I was reading Jon’s article.The part when he talks about punishing ourselves, over and over again, how is that fair in any way really moved me when i read it so long ago. The whole concept of debt is a lie. if we can do our best to follow the agreements and be conscious and aware, as well as choose to be happy instead of right life, though still challenging, can be created as we choose, instead of someone else.
This leads us to his other book the last judgment, about not judging yourself, that frees up a lot of energy and allows more love and good to come to us, which we in turn share with all people.
I was into occult practices such as astral projection and hidden occult knowledge. I was seeking answers to previous experiences I have had with the paranormal and seeing UFOs with others. Everything I researched had me convinced the Bible was just a means of control. I fell for every argument “disproving” the bible, the pre Jesus saviors, Jesus never existed, the Bible being a solar allegory…I can easily disprove all these now.
I later married a Christian women and after getting drug around to church for awhile thinking everyone were brainwashed sheep I simply said the following skeptical yet sincere prayer “Jesus, if you really are who you say you are, of course I would serve you, just show me something.”
So one day my wife was pulling out for church, me mocking and scoffing, I pulled out heading the other direction, cruising along listening to some satanic death metal, and suddenly this flood of information hits me. I knew Jesus was Lord as sure as if He was sitting in the passenger seat, saw all the times He saved me from my reckless thrill seeking nihilistic lifestyle, felt this overwhelming sense of guilt, heart racing.
I stopped in a rural area after crosasing a shallow river (symbolic?) and got out and knelt and just uttered “make me new” and I will never forget the most powerful feeling of love just embrace, engulf and permeate me. I just broke down wondering how He could love me so much despite me going around telling people it was all a lie. I found out my wife was praying for me at the same time. I felt so different to the point of gazing in the mirror wondering why. Turns out this is the classic born again experience. I then came under spiritual attack as many do who were formerly involved in occult practices. Demons flee at the mention of His name and sleep paralysis stops instantly.
I suggest you ask Yeshua (Jesus) to reveal himself to you, it can’t hurt, and if this reality we are in really is a battle for souls it could really hurt if you don’t. 😉
The problem with religious conversions, is that the experience of conversion (“it just hit me”) is a programmable reflex, pretty much like the experience of love at first sight. People do this silly thing – they unconsciously prepare themselves to be captured by some person or belief, and when it happens, it is felt to be the truest thing in the world. The “I’m praying for you” gimmick works pretty much like voodoo beliefs – you fall under the “spell” because basically you want to. There’s that weird urge to surrender to something external – “turned my life over to Christ” (or Mohammed, or Rajneesh. It’s thought to be spiritual, but really it’s just a mind trick.
Most people who claim to be Christians have no defining experience like that that. Like I said, being a truth seeker, just to remind myself to be open to any idea said that skeptical prayer of seeking. I totally forgot about it, it was a few weeks prior. I just got done scoffing at my wife about the sheepish people sitting there in church. I wasn’t thinking anything about it. I was quite content in my I have the secret understanding of truth mentality. I’m not given to mob mentality, quite the opposite, nor am I given to psychosomatic type behavior. I was actually on an opiate agonist Suboxone at the time for years, so I was quite numb, wondering what this salty discharge coming from my eyes was at the end of it.
I can tell you for sure we all have souls, as can others who have had out of body experiences and seen and heard things they should not have been able to perceive. In my first real confirmation in astral projection I went to the living room (in spirit), saw my dad, I took note of where he was sitting, what he was eating, drinking, wearing, watching on tv, the time on the clock, all with 360 degree vision Then I went down the hallway, through my door, saw my own body in bed and as soon as I reached it, bolted awake. I went to the living room and smiled because every detail was as I had seen. Perhaps you should be more open minded. We haven’t got it all figured out yet, not even close.
I think you mistook me for an atheist. I’m not. I think Jesus was the most important religious reformer who ever lived, and the New Testament is a truthful account of him. I’m just saying, staking everything on a “defining experience” – whether it is astral projection or prayer or whatever, is common to many religions. Why turn your life over to a belief system, one that has been engineered by scholars and theologians over many centuries, and undergone tremendous changes with the times? Do you trust them more than you trust yourself? That is what they want, of course. They may say, “Trust in Jesus” but what it boils down to is “trust our particular flavor of Jesus.”
The New Testament says to trust in the spirit of Jesus within you. As I see it, “spirit” is just another word for consciousness, and Jesus had a fully developed consciousness, and he taught that we could have it too, if we could trust that it is possible. Very simple, and it allows much freedom of thought – which the N.T. describes as the “spirit of liberty.” I didn’t throw out my Bible. But now that i understand this simple teaching, it’s like my old Algebra textbook.
Yes, I did mistake you for an atheist. I also agree that it is important not to stake everything on a feeling or one time experience. There are places where people are rolling around on the floor laughing their heads off, eyes rolled back, people passing around snakes, thinking they are being led by God. There are occultists, wiccans, psychics… who are convinced of their ideology based off of their experiences with the supernatural.
I am convinced based on a combination of that experience, what i continue to experience and the studying I have done since. I hear the Kingdom of God is within idea taken out of context much, it may have been better translated as in your midst, speaking of himself. I really feel that a major change happened for me that day, things that I owned, without thinking they were bad in my mind would constantly be nagging at me, I had to burn all my CD’s, they were very blasphemous, I would try and reason and say I just like the music, and do not care about the lyrics. The Bible teaches that the spirit of God will live in you when you surrender to God, and ask for forgiveness. I could go on and on, my wife will feel led to give money to some person and unbeknownst to her someone else felt the same urge and after all was said and done the money added up to the dollar to pay a bill they could not pay these things happen daily. I will pray for God to send me to someone on a day and by coincidence end up at a store I never go to and meet a person who had all the same previous belles as I once had and am able to share with them, I could go on and on.
I thought the world made sense before, reading Icke and what not, but boy does it now. There is so much evidence for the historicity of the Bible, cities are constantly being found that were thought to be legend, the skeletons of the nephilim or giants, man made artifacts found in solid rock and coal from the flood and the world wide remembrance of these things. The way society is moving towards the prophesied one world religion, governance and monetary system.
I am very open minded and do not allow any group or denomination to form my opinions and interpretations and have some ideas that would make others look at me like I’m crazy such as the Earth BECAME formless and void, this has to do with Planet X, which was the Star of Bethlehem, and will be responsible for many of the events in the tribulation. I think the fallen angels did genetic manipulation, read the Book of Enoch online. The Boom of Job is a badly mistranslated parallel text of the Sumerian Creation Epic the Enuma Elish, only the Sumerians deified the planets, and reversed Enlil and Enki which are God and Satan, a title meaning adversary or accuser. We do have proof such as the Dead Sea scrolls that the text was not altered. The Shroud of Turin is a mystery and cannot of been forged unless the maker had some sort of plasma burst tech back centuries ago. I really could go on and on, but we must agree that there is one truth, we can’t all be right, and I do not have all the answers. We should also agree that some vast intelligence designed the incredibly complex physical realm and the spiritual realms and the way they inter-mesh, and that we need to seek that designer.
It’s so easy to get caught up in theories of occult, or “hidden” truth – archeology, history, planets, etc. These things go viral, and they are all the rage for a while. Mysteries – the public craves them. They sell books and DVD’s.
But you really think that Jesus’ intent was for his followers to become sleuths? Experts in Jewish or Sumerian legends, or ancient relics?
This whole surrendering to God business – another impenetrable metaphor, and a strange one, too. It makes to surrender to your enemy, but to your friend? I must have missed the part where the twelve apostles surrendered to God. “I give up, don’t shoot!”
But the surrender idea is at the center of cultic systems. Christianity, as it is practiced today, is a cult, because it teaches this idea. And funny thing, I don’t see too many churchgoers surrender their BMW’s or Audis – I mean, just glancing at the parking lots on Sunday, you can tell a lot. They don’t exactly travel light – they have more than two tunics, they’ve got lots of wealth stored away for the future. So it’s just talk, really, but the whole idea is to maintain control, to have an organization that keeps the money coming in, and to keep all the sheep in their pen.

I totally feel you on the mega churches. They are nothing more for profit glorified self help centers. I completely understand the way you look and see self righteous christian in name only people. The Letters that compose the New testament speak expressly on people like that. It even says that in the last days the Christians would only listen to those who made them feel good or said what they wanted to hear. I don’t attend fellowship regularly, the Bible does say not to forsake the gathering together, but when I do, I go to small church, like most around here. Our preacher is not paid, he works a job, nobody is paid. Any money collected goes to help people in need only, other than utility bills. This was the way it was in the early pre Catholic hijacking of Christianity.
Jesus said be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. We are supposed to get a good understanding of the enemy and how he works so as not to be deceived. I’m free to study the things I find interesting. You remind me much of my Uncle Tom, in PA where I am from. He will vehemently deny any type of conspiracy, and will simply say “i think there is a higher power and the world would be a better place if people lived by the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.” What if this Jesus really was the creator of the universe and humbled himself, lived the perfect human life we never could, took the punishment we deserved, and died in our place and rose from the dead three days later? No man comes to the Father but through Me. Stop judging and watching the tares, if you watch me you will see my faults, the thing is we all fall short, we cannot be in the presence of a perfect being as filthy as we are, so simply by believing he died for you, the Father see’s Christ’s righteousness in your place, He gave us an easy way out, the road will be hard, but worth it. Why would governments want a bunch of people who have their allegiance to a higher power than they? That is why communist countries always remove religion and become the god.

We aren’t taught that this state of “peace that surpasses all understanding” and love are attainable and very real. It is something we have to discover within. This state of deep knowing is very personal, a true awakening. Words can not adequately express this realization.
Thanks Terri, I’m glad when it touches someone. Will never forget that first day of being in stores and just loving everyone. Being so happy. I feel not worthy to even call myself a Christian I have my problems, for the last four years, chronic illness, like Lyme disease and or candida has led me seek after things to ease symptoms, prescriptions… to make myself feel better, trying to heal myself with so many supplements which have helped but I should be relying on my maker.
I’m seeking artificial peace and wish i had that peace and joy all the time, I only get it in short bursts like sobbing in the presence of God for a 30 mijn drive from town as I feel His love, wondering why he cares anything for me, I disgust myself sometimes, but you see sin for how disgusting it really is when your eyes are opened. Real Christians, not cultural ones/ tares don’t think they are above everyone else, they want to share the love they get to experience with others that they get from the one that loves them. Trying to get the courage to take that first step onto the water and what am I waiting for?! I have the creator of the universe to carry me. Sorry I’m rambling.
Thanks for your reply, Jon. Sorry to hear about your health challenges. they can be overcome, you can heal, if you allow it. Since Jesus loves you so much, and you know this, wouldn’t he want you to love yourself as much?. He would never want you to disparage yourself. Love thy neighbor as thyself means just that. We must love ourselves, then we can love others. Auto immune disorders occur on an energetic level and Love is the most powerful energy which can heal and create miracles.. All we have to do is say yes. You can feel that love you felt all the time, it just takes practice.
We have been given so much, and it may seem we can never repay it, but this is not the point, all we need to do is to accept this gift with appreciation, and then shine our light and live this present the best we can. We don’t need to punish or judge ourselves. I have a feeling you already know this, but just wanted to give you a friendly reminder.
I have found that colloidal silver is very good and much needed in this world where nano particles are everywhere and causing problems for our health. I use sovereign silver and I would suggest you take it with aloe so it absorbs better in your system to combat the lyme disease and whatever else physically is impairing you. I do beat myself up sometimes, no a lot, but 4 years of misery in the flesh can affect your spirit, I work 10-12 hours a day in the heat and cold building storage sheds, no breaks , because I get paid by the building, pay is great, sometimes I think I’m idolizing work, or being a workaholic. I mean I’m supporting my wife and three kids who are home schooled and have good reason for it, but we could make it on less. I’m realizing that I’m pushing myself so hard, thinking I can get us ahead when it’s God who will provide. I could probably work less, spend more time with my family, give more, and somehow come out with plenty of money.
Yes, I’ve been through all the brands of silver and believe it or not Now brand Silver Sol has been the most effective, i can feel the die off reaction when I take it. I’ve not been taking it for months, thanks for reminding me, I still do the Cat’s Claw. Once again instead of trying to heal myself, I should be seeking the God first of all. Funny how sometimes we know all the Bible, and principles and even get into the meatier, fringe areas, yet forget to apply the basic milk to our everyday lives. at least I do quite a bit. We also homeschool and have a farm, so understand being outside in all weather year round and many times 24 hour a day responsibilities. Most people today are not familiar with outside work and the challenges involved. It is rejuvenating, but can also be very tiring. I feel very blessed to be so connected to nature, God’s presence is very noticeable here.
Your strong work ethic is commendable, as a father and husband, its natural for you to want to provide for your family. Most males have been emasculated (chemically as well as socially) and do not have the motivation to be men.
I believe we live in a dual world. Good energy and bad energy.
I do not worship religions, But I do believe in a God, This God, I believe in is the good energy, the devil is the bad energy. And I find it very easy to discern both.
When you are feeling good and powerful,you are in the good energy.
When you are feeling bad and powerless, you are in the bad energy.
Word meanings are merely semantic subjective interpretations clothed in cultural, psychological and contemporary memes. Occult conjures up the likes of Ouija boards, Aleister Crowley, secret societies, black magic and forbidden knowledge, so the true meaning is irrelevant. In the context of Jon’s article however, I believe a persons essence and purpose can only be realized and manifested as a co-creator with the divine omnipotent intelligence of the universe. To know thyself is to be one with Source.

That is the essence of the magician. But whose desires are we fulfilling, and how much are we truly concerned with manipulating this world to fit our desires?
On the subject of co-creating and the occult, Jesus seemed to know a thing or two about how to reach the (un)created reality:
