I did group harmony. I added. I divided. I heard about architecture. The teacher said we were filled with wonder at the universe. We solved a problem. We’re all together. I ate cheese. A factory makes cheese.”
The new education is ADHD.
It’s a method of teaching that surrenders ground on each key concept, deserting it before it’s firmly fixed in the mind of the student.
It hops around from idea to idea, because parents, teachers, administrators, students, departments of education, and educational publishers have given up on the traditional practice of repetition.
Repetition was old-world. For decades, even centuries, the time-honored method of instruction was: introduce an idea or concept or method, and then provide numerous examples the student had to practice, solve, and demonstrate with proficiency.
There was no getting around it. If the student balked, he failed.
There were no excuses or fairy tales floated to explain away the inability of the student to carry out the work.
Now, these days, if you want to induce ADHD, teach a course in which each new concept is given short shrift. Then pass every student on to the next grade, because it’s “humane.”
Think of it this way. Suppose you want to climb the sheer face of a high rock. You know nothing about climbing. You engage an instructor. He teaches you a little bit about ropes and spikes and handholds. He briefly highlights each aspect and then skips to the next.
So later…while you’re falling five hundred feet to the ravine below, you can invent stories about why the experiment didn’t work out.
Since the advent of organized education on the planet, there has been one way of teaching young children…until recently. Explain a new idea, produce scores of examples of that idea, and get the students to work on those examples and come up with the right answers.
Subtraction, division, decimals, spelling, reading—it all works the same basic way.
For the last hundred years or so, however, we’ve seen the gradual intrusion of Teacher ADHD.
School text ADHD.
Not enough examples. Not enough exercises.
Education has nothing to do with a full frontal attack to “improve the self-esteem” of the student. It has nothing to do with telling children they’re valuable. It certainly has nothing to do with trying to embed social values and team spirit in children.
And no matter how many fantasies educators spin, schools can’t replace parents.
If what I’m writing here seems cruel and uncaring…look at the other side of the picture. Look at what happens when a student emerges from school with a half-baked, “dumbed-down” education.
He can sort of read. He can sort of write. He sort of understands arithmetic. He tries to skate through the rest of his life. He fakes it. He adopts a front to conceal the large territory of what he doesn’t know.
He certainly can’t think straight. Give him three ideas in succession and he’s lost. He goes on overload.
He operates on association. You say A and he goes to G right away. You go back to A and he responds with R. He’s up the creek without a paddle.
That’s what’s cruel.
Forty years ago, I was on the verge of landing a lucrative job with a remedial education company. The owner gave me a lesson plan and told me to write a sample program.
I did. He looked at it and said, “There are too many examples and exercises here. You have to move things along faster.”
I told him the students would never comprehend the program that way. They had to work on at least 20 exercises for each new concept.
He was shocked. “That’s not how it’s done now,” he said.
“Oh,” I said, “you mean now the student and teacher both fake it?”
And that was the end of that.

Several years ago, I explained much of what’s in this article to a sociologist at a US university. His response: “Children are different now. They don’t have patience. There are too many distractions. We have to operate from a new psychology.”
I asked him what that psychology was.
“Children are consumers. They pick and choose.”
While I was laughing at his assessment, he capped his display of wisdom with this: “There is no longer such a clear division between opinion and fact. They overlap.”
Perfect.
I know all about how the Carnegie and Rockefeller Foundations torpedoed education in America. But their major effort was cutting off teachers and students from the history of the nation and the meaning of individual freedom.
What I’m talking about here is a different perversion. The unhinging of the young mind from any semblance of accomplishment and continuity. This goes far beyond the agenda of outfitting children to be worker-drones in a controlled society.
This is the induction of confusion and despair about what used to be called thinking. This is the imprinting of “gaps” that make it very hard for a person to operate, even as a drone.
In addition, if you seed children with all sorts of debilitating psychiatric drugs, and you have a profound and dangerous mess that only dedicated parents can undo, one child at a time.
People may wish it weren’t so, but that doesn’t change the facts of the matter.
The upside is, when you explain a concept to a child, and you then take him through a great many exercises designed to help him understand that concept, he’ll achieve a victory.
Then you’ll see the lights go on in his mind.

Thank you! I’ve known for quite some time now that apparently our education system seemed broken. Far too many young people that I’ve worked with and talked to just seemed…disconnected. I wasn’t sure what the hell the problem was but now it’s pretty damn clear. What so many ‘teachers’ teach now is wrong and cruel but of course, they have degrees and so, they ‘know’ what they’re doing. I do feel sorry for future generations if this madness thinly disguised as educational curriculum and reform continues.

I would love for that to be true, a broken education system; therein lies the rub, it’s a ‘system’.
A singular child is unique, different that all other children. Not the same. A different consciousness seeing the world and trying to make sense of it. I repeat different not the same.
Systems boil it all down to the lowest common denominator. “We all do it this way..and, we all want you to do it this way…so that we all are talking about the same thing in the same way.”

I have a friend who has been taking the same anti-deppressant for the last twenty year; never questions it; her doctor a long time ago told her she had a chemical imbalance and would have to take that medication for life. She bought into it and hasn’t seen that motherfucker in years. The script keeps getting filled and she continues to take that poison day after day; when I force her think, it is painful for her.
Problem is: she teaches kindergarden. The system.
She does a little art class everyday and the little ones get a xeroxed contoured facsimile of a duck on a page, eight and half, by eleven inches. They all get a big yellow crayon and are instructed to color the the big duck….yellow. All the same yellow.

She asked me once if I would as an artist come and do an art class for her children….bwahahahahahhhha. She might as well be asking Che Guevera to teach the kiddies gun cleaning.

I would be asking them to find their own way of expressing ‘Duck’. When used in the same sentence as hand genades, duck has totally different meaning, and visual.

Michael, your post is much appreciated! I did go in to teach elementary art classes, and did the very thing you speak of – allowing for individual expression, and without ever being escorted off the property, by the way. (I don’t adhere to ‘teacher’ but rather view myself as a facilitator of learning by creating the settings in which discovery occurs.) The most interesting aspect of these classes was that the kids who had been identified as the most ‘problematic’ had no difficulty jumping right in and spontaneously creating unique works. On the other hand, those most ‘teacher adored’ and viewed as successful, time and time again got ‘stuck’ and unable to produce, almost to the point of tears. It took much gentle encouragement before they were able to release themselves from their learned regurgitative mode and enter into the arena of spontaneity and inner freedom. The conclusions which may be drawn on the state of education are obvious.
As for your friend on anti-depressants for 20 years, what a sham of a doctor and what a sad situation. The clinical director of the group of psychologists I worked for implemented an outpatient therapy for depressed individuals (called rapid cognitive something-or-other), a talk-therapy, problem-solving-like approach which resolved the majority of depressive episodes within six weeks. This was back in the late 80’s. Studies at the time showed that even without therapy of any kind, most depression resolved on its own within six months.
When there are teachers who themselves have little understanding of the concepts they attempt to teach, and doctors whose interest is not to heal but maintain and increase their patient bases, combined with recipients unwilling to question and self-advocate, the product is an accepted and self-perpetuating sub-standard mode of societal functionality. And downhill we go!
Cursive is no longer taught in school. Some think that’s not important. The original copy of the United States Constitution is written in cursive. If you want to read it, without the opportunity for someone to leave out a word, or replace one word with another…you need to be able to read cursive. Children in elementary school right now will never have that chance.
Excellent point, Dana. Not only does writing in cursive provide an excellent tool for learning information, the written word cannot be hacked. Dumbing down coupled with complete control is the goal…
My comment is in re to your article on faith and logic. (I found you after a friend recommended Alex Jones). I am 64 and always eager to learn. Just getting started with your material. Another great logic teacher I appreciate is R C Sproul, reformed theology preacher and Minister. On proving the existence of God with logic (simplified). Are we having a conversation right now? Are you wearing a watch? Does time exist? This proves beyond any doubt that God exists. Think about it.

Perhaps it’s not god which is the enslavement of the spirit, but the way the concept of god is used by man to enslave himself and others.
I think that is quite accurate. Most folks believe in the primary false god that is the religion of authority. There is no such thing as external authority, only the individual owns his/her mind, body and actions. If one does not own them-self, then who does? An invisible, non-existent construct that is labeled government?
If any person does not live in accordance with Natural Law, so that as they think/so they feel/ so they act, then they cannot be a true in-dividual, without division. No belief in the greater good can ever be wholesome when the monads of the collection of individuals are divided themselves, from within. This simple principle seems so difficult for many to master do to two primary causes:
1. Moral relativism
2. Belief in authority
Regarding man made religion, there are three primary mono-theistic religions currently dominating the world, and all are celestial based cults:
1. Christianity – the Solar cult
2. Islam – the Lunar cult
3. Judaism – the Stellar cult
Each one is based from astro-theology, which is simply the way the 7 visible bodies of the solar system move about and how they align with the constellations. Where people seem to really get lost when they come to that understanding, is by not going far enough. All of these original teachings were esoteric constructs to explain proper alignment of humans with the spirit. Essentially, how to ascend from our base instincts and material self to elevate our consciousness. To come to the understanding that, if one suffers, all suffer. And that we are all connected, so when one chooses violate others, they are inevitably violating themselves because they have no personal self-respect- i.e., they haven’t even looked again at their own actions.
The foundation they all share is the belief in an external authority in God, that is separate from them, and has dominion over them. Some sort of savior figure that will eventually bless them with eternal bliss should they follow all His rules. That is the critical error in their views. What nearly every human today suffers from (at least in the industrialized nations) is the inability to say “I was wrong” and “It is my fault”. These religions feast upon that childish naivety, and its evident in the Bible. Jesus, the Sun of God, the shepherd, tending to his flock of childish, wandering sheep (followers) that eventually need an external savior to save them from themselves. This eliminates true personal responsibility. That specific inability to accept personal responsibility is where I have no patience, especially for adults of at least 30 years of age. It is utterly inexcusable.
I’ll finish with this:
People like Michael are suffering immensely (whether he is a serious commenter hellbent on injecting vitriol or just another internet shill paid to do just that- is completely irrelevant) In either case one has to be in an immense state of emotional disharmony to want to operate in such a fashion, and can’t recognize his culpability in creating the very chaos he claims to despise. It stems from a poisoned worldview, which again, originates in the idea of moral relativism, or solipsism. It is a disease of the mind and it only leads to chaos.
So, as irritating and often frustrating these discourses become when engaging with that type of personality, getting angry and resorting to ad hominem only creates more suffering, for all parties involved. Education and compassion are the only viable option, up until the point that violence action is initiated by such people, at which point the necessary force to stop such aggression is your rightful action. Until then, we have an obligation to ourselves to harmonize ourselves, and then educate others in consensual, non-violent harmonization within themselves.
Michael, I hope you find peace within. I’m still searching for it myself.

Additionally, let’s say you believe the belief in a Creator to be a cause of suffering in the world (I think that is a fair assumption), then what purpose is served by attacking someone with such vicious words and holding this holier than though smug attitude? It appears it only creates more suffering, for all parties involved. I recently saw “The Accountant” with the Ben Affleck acting as a high functioning ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) accountant/killer/robot. His father was military so there were little hints of MK Ultra mind control. Towards the end there was a “tour” of a home for ASD cildren and adults and the guide inferred that ASD was actually a POSITIVE thing, that victims have undiscovered talents and skills that make ASD a blessing. Now I understand making lemonade from lemons, but the inference was NOT on researching the CAUSES of (the increase of) ASD, but on accepting and exploiting it. What this said to me was this is how it’s gonna be – get used to it, look on the bright (robotic) side. I have family involved in the ASD industry and I can assure you of two things, it is primarily a “man made” disease and for most victims and their families it is a type of of hell on earth.
A consequence of the rapid cut/ ADHD concept of education and entertainment, is that people cultured in that short attention span behavior won’t be able to read an article in depth, study a subject in depth, or do things that require prolonged periods of attention.
And so they won’t be able to read Jon’s articles to get a clue. They won’t be able to put time in on anything to correct the dysfunctional conditioning. It’s a feature. Not a bug.

In addition to the mess you’ve described, whole language (whole word reading) is creating “educational dyslexia” as the late, great Dr Samuel Blumenfeld called it. While there are many reasons why 50% of American adults are considered functionally illiterate, the methods of teaching reading pushed by universities must also be considered. I don’t think Betsy DeVos will tackle these issues, do you?
The human mind possesses the capacity to remember 1,000 (plus or minus) sight words, the limiting factor of the whole language reading program… its built-in beauty for those wishing to produce a compliant work force, the stated primary goal of instituting the public education system.

ADHD and ASD are proven biological brain disorders. Executive functioning is greatly reduced and causes difficulties in social society. have you considered the role that Project paperclip played in changing the psychological/psychiatric foundation in America? I ask this because in order to believe that different = disorder, you would need to believe in just about all the constructs put in place by the British royalty (see Cecil Rhodes last will and testament) in combination with international bankers (Rothschild/Rockefeller/Chase/Morgan/Carnegie front organizations) and Nazi war criminals (Project Paperclip- 4400 scientists, engineers, and psychiatrists).
The information is readily available for you to explore that extensively breaks down the breakdown of American individualism and critical thinking. This is critical when examining the massive confirmation bias in modern academia. The claims are that people with ADD or ASD have “social disorders” or even “oppositional defiant” etc. and they point to different ways these peoples brains work.
But have you given thought to the foundation which lends that view?
Mostly children, who refuse to obey in the classroom setting (Pavlovian labor/obedience training for 8 hours a day in 45 minute blocks where these young, energetic, creative types are forced to sit and not question) are taken to be examined because they can’t be controlled. No one likes school because its terribly boring and is engineered to suck the life force and will from the children at a very young age, in order to create the perfect consumer. But guess what? Some of us aren’t breakable, and so therefore all these Nazi lineage based “scientists” and “pseudo-psychiatrists” need to discover why some people can’t be controlled, and then they label it a disorder.
I have “Ring of Fire A.D.H.D.” which means, (as of the time I was tested, at Transact Inc, just outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania when I was in 2nd grade back in 1992ish, that I had all six known types of A.D.D. Let’s fast forward to me as a 33 year old independent male.
My brain works incredibly fast and handles multiple thought streams instantaneously, while being able to follow the grand picture presented in a 4+ hour seminar of dense material on any number of topics that interest ME (critical here, not some garbage curriculum set forth by Nazi’s to control me, but something I actually find interesting), I often find dry delivery and dense factual material riveting, oh by the way I am adept at pattern recognition (most Americans lost that which is another major reason we’re being culled), I’ve grown exponentially as a moral human being by my own volition and care, I treat others with respect and kindness and if I find myself not doing such, I immediately rectify the transgression to the best it can be, I built my own cabin from the ground up, having never built one before, in 5 days and oh by the way, its level/plumb/square and leak proof with a metal roof. I’ve managed to secure personal hunting property that cabin is built upon and I annually harvest a mule deer. I don’t send it to a processor, no, I learned how to do it and I age and seal the meat myself. I cook with it, hell I even made soap last year from the back fat.
oh, I make soap, I make beer, I make wine and soon harder stuff. I learned and could troubleshoot, design and implement any residential and light commercial irrigation system (including wire trouble shooting which most irrigators with 10+ years don’t even know) in all of Denver metro, within 3 seasons. My boss is incredible and very hands on which is why, but I still learned it that fast. I can out maneuver most people in intellectual debate because I don’t resort to logical fallacies. And you know what, there is plenty more, but the point is, I’m your prototypical ADD poster child for the untamable DIS-ORDER that you claim is biological proven. The real disorder is in believing those with my mental acumen are somehow at a disadvantage and lack order. You couldn’t be further from the truth and I would suggest a deep historical study into the manipulation of the human psyche over the past century.

Only one…
but, it took several lightbulbs and several months to get it done because the ADHD’er:
*Paid for two light bulbs then left them on store counter.
*Returned home, realized forgot two light bulbs, returned to store to retrieve.
*Shopping bag had hole – one bulb dropped through it and shattered!
*Was distracted with a great idea and did not realize fate of this light bulb.
*Ran over shattered bulb with car (and got a flat tire).
*Changed flat tire, returned home.
*Opened bag up, realized remaining bulb was wrong wattage.
(Can’t be bothered with checking light bulbs – this is too boring!)
*Returned to the store, picked up two more light bulbs.
*Returned home, started initial batch of laundry.
*Misplaced bag with light bulbs somewhere in laundry pile.
*Went to look for ladder to replace burned out light bulb.
*Realized ladder was loaned out and couldn’t find misplaced light bulbs.
*Returned to store again to buy new ladder and two more light bulbs.
*Returned home with ladder and new light bulbs, got distracted with another great idea!
*Tried to locate notebook to write down these thoughts.
(Gotta get these down before we forget them!)
*Forgot ladder and light bulbs in the car.*Couldn’t find notebook, initial batch of laundry wash done, transfer to dryer – put remaining laundry batch in washing machine.
*Found previous misplaced bag of bulbs that was buried in the laundry!
* Spent another 15 minutes to locate notebook to write down the two great ideas.
* Couldn’t find notebook after 15 minutes, pulled out initial laundry batch from dryer.
*Transferred remaining laundry washing machine batch to dryer.
* Realized ladder and new bulbs were in car – retrieved.
*Opened and climbed ladder with a light bulb (just purchased with ladder), opened light fixture.
*Light fixture has more than one bulb, don’t know which one is burned out.
*Climbed down ladder to turn on light fixture.
*Re-climbed ladder, replaced burned out light bulb with a new lightbulb (from found bag in laundry pile).
*Remaining laundry in dryer completed, removed clothes and folded all dried laundry in bedroom.
*Found notebook in bedroom but couldn’t remember either great idea.
*Returned to previous room to fold ladder and located place to store it.
*Put all remaining light bulbs away.
*Just remembered both great ideas — have notepad, but can’t find pen!
*Remembered that pen is buried in shirt pocket and quickly write down ideas before forgetting again.
…………..
*Paid for two light bulbs then left them on store counter.”

Regarding the rest of your response, it appears you either:

The point was that A.D.D. is pure rubbish, the whole notion is based on confirmation bias of authoritarians and their “research” to command and control the minds of children in order to be obedient order followers.

I just revisited this after some time, and maybe I missed the anger part…?
Over 50 years ago, in elementary school (in a school system focused on college prep), I was given an art project, in which paper was folded and cut in such a way as to make it possible to produce “mix’n’match” pictures, in which the tops, middles and bottoms could be rearranged to make comical new combinations. As usual, my train of thought followed its own tracks, and I missed key parts of the instructions. I went on to invent my own way of producing the same results. I was rather proud of myself, all in all, for my inventiveness under pressure. OF COURSE, I was given an “F” for that class, for not following instructions.
In high school, I scored in the 99th percentile in verbal and writing skills, but did worse in each grade (“You’re not living up to your potential!”) until I flunked the 11th grade, twice. (I went on to get a GED.)
At age 49, I was diagnosed, as a result of seeing a VA doctor on my own initiative, with ADD. I spent 20 years on medications (with some attenuation of symptoms) and was then diagnosed with sleep apnea, and was given a CPAP machine. 2 months later I dropped the medicine, as it was no longer needed. The symptoms of each condition are virtually identical.
Yes, ADD/ADHD are real conditions; brain scan technology has so demonstrated.
Jon’s take on our “educational system” and the motivations for the desired outcome is correct. While ADD is a real condition, its genesis may be from multiple sources. Not everyone who’s diagnosed with it (like me) actually has it. Many on the autism / ADD spectrum in the “high-functioning” category actually benefit from their “condition,” and have contributed mightily to their fields of endeavor.
As Thom Hartmann has observed (in at least one of his books on ADD), many, perhaps most, of those with the “condition,” given the chance to live their lives over as “normal,” would not do so. I have no idea what my life might have been like, had I been treated for sleep apnea at an early age. I only know, along with Jon, that our planet is being governed by self-interested monsters who are always eager to exploit a malleable population regardless of the suffering they inflict.
In Tragedy and Hope, Quiggley gives the following definition: “Existentialism, by its belief that reality and life consist only of the specific, concrete personal experience of a given place and moment, ignores the context of each event and thus isolates it.”
His opinion on “permissive education,” :”Children were encouraged to have opinions and to speak out on matters of which they were totally ignorant.”
The matters of education have been studied since the beginning of time.
ADHD is an outcome which has been planned a long time ago.
This is spot on 100%. That’s the mindset in both school and real world:
