NY Times 1989: no global warming trend

by Jon Rappoport

December 29, 2016

The New York Times, the “paper of record,” published a very interesting piece on January 26, 1989. The headline read: “US Data since 1895 Fail to Show Warming Trend.”

Here are a few key paragraphs:

“After examining climate data extending back nearly 100 years, a team of Government scientists has concluded that there has been no significant change in average temperatures or rainfall in the United States over that entire period.”

“While the nation’s weather in individual years or even for periods of years has been hotter or cooler and drier or wetter than in other periods, the new study shows that over the last century there has been no trend in one direction or another.”

“The study, made by scientists for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was published in the current issue of Geophysical Research Letters. It is based on temperature and precipitation readings taken at weather stations around the country from 1895 to 1987.”

Then comes the revisionist stepping-back from the explosive finding:

“Dr. Kirby Hanson, the meteorologist who led the study, said in a telephone interview that the findings concerning the United States do not necessarily ‘cast doubt’ on previous findings of a worldwide trend toward warmer temperatures…He said that the United States occupies only a small percentage of Earth’s surface and that the new findings may be the result of regional variations.”

That’s a beauty, isn’t it? The US, with its massive spewing industrial/automotive output of CO2 is—owing to a mysterious force—not warming. It’s angels, of course. Angels scrubbing the sky.

Actually, later in the Times article, “Dr. James E. Hansen, director of National Aeronautic and Space Administration’s Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan” offers this gem: “Another possibility, he [Hansen] said, was that there were special conditions in the United States that would tend to offset a warming trend. For example, industrial activity produces dust and other solid particles that help form liquid droplets in the atmosphere. These droplets reflect radiation away from Earth and thus have a cooling influence.”

But I suppose, through a REVERSE miracle, the droplets do allow heat generated at ground level to escape upward. If the droplets did trap heat at ground level, temperatures would rise—and the study showed that wasn’t occurring. More angels. The magic droplets deflect heat coming down, but not going up.

The Times had no follow-up questions.

The Matrix Revealed

But don’t worry, be happy. It’s all good. Yes, the warming hypothesis leads to carbon taxes, lowering energy output in order to keep us all from frying, and the consequent decimation of the economy—but look, people make mistakes. And those mistakes generate unpleasant results. However, they mean well. They really do.

They would never do that.

    It is said by careful scientists that there is no way to truly measure earth’s temperature, as there are f,at too many variables in that methodology to arrive at a consensus.

  2. Dana Doran says:

    ….and ultimately more control. You know, to achieve a citizenry that is “unaware and compliant.”

  3. marysong says:

    Yes … more control! ‘Global Warming’ is a subject by which everyone in the world may be reached mentally and intrigued. After absorbing the brainwashing a trustful citizen will comply with the restrictions on his life and liberty in order to “save the planet”. More lies!

    How cunning are these rich powerful globalists! Even the Pope is in on it with an ‘encyclical’. All the proof offered as a result of scientific investigation seems to flash in the media for a brief time only to be soon buried. What control of humanity this topic offers to the head of the serpent.

    • @marysong

      Marysong; that a nice name is that your first name….

      Yeah…I found that an interesting one Mary; Mr Popey telling all his budding little paedophiles that, being the Vicker of Christ, God told him that men, specifically white men, are screwing the climate up…bastards. And now being the spiritual head of the free world, that he is instructing them to preach the CAGW two-step.

      Talk about a captive audience; and if you are going to have a unique piece of propaganda stick. I mean one that protects so much available money, carbon taxes…we’re talkin bazillions of dollars Mary. Do you know how to count to a bazillion Mary. It takes a long time.

      Well, you get a priest to stick something, *cough* it in the head of a catholic. And it’s stuck for good, the only way to get it out of there is, cut that section of the brain away.

      That’s roughly a consensus of two billion people, and I am batting zero against the Fenians in trying to convince a them of the hoax Mary.

      *Michael thinking during typing “I wonder if it’s the three stooges, two fingers in the eyes, is the problem with catholics listening to me. I thought it was a good way to wake them up…oh well. Can’t be right all the time.*

      So I decided to kidnap Mr Popey Mary, stick nicotine patches all over him and Holy water board him into telling those little bum boy priests to tell the truth.

      This oughta give the kiddies nightmares…

      “If Trump and his cohort believe the science of global warming is bogus then they shouldn’t be allowed to use the science of the Internet for their Twitter accounts, the science of global positioning for their drones, or the science of nuclear power for their weaponry.” – Joseph A. Palermo Professor, historian, [ Historian, not a climate scientist, but he smart..right!]

        Hi Michael, The Pope’s encyclical about Global Warming was telling us Catholics to believe IN Global Warming and save the planet. He even told us NOT to use our air conditioners. Many of us do not agree with him. Catholics are going through a rough time right now with the hierarchy disagreeing. It is actually in the Apocalypse Chapter XII V. 2 Say a little prayer for us?

        The Fenians were awesome. But that is another story. Thanks for replying to me.

        • “The Fenians were awsome”…

          You think they were awesome…I used to be one. A long long time ago.
          Finn of the red hand…now ther was a fella.

          No need to thank me, we’re just chewing the fat. Your new here marysong.

          Apocalypse Chapter XII ah the woman clothed in the sun and the great red dragon.
          My friend Bill Blake did a wonderful set of waterclolors on the subject, probably the finest that have ever been painted…strange how they all made it to Washington DC…hm.

          The Garden Of Love
          by William Blake

          I laid me down upon a bank,
          Where Love lay sleeping;
          I heard among the rushes dank
          Weeping, weeping.

          Then I went to the heath and the wild,
          To the thistles and thorns of the waste;
          And they told me how they were beguiled,
          Driven out, and compelled to the chaste.

          I went to the Garden of Love,
          And saw what I never had seen;
          A Chapel was built in the midst,
          Where I used to play on the green.

          And the gates of this Chapel were shut
          And “Thou shalt not,” writ over the door;
          So I turned to the Garden of Love
          That so many sweet flowers bore.

          And I saw it was filled with graves,
          And tombstones where flowers should be;
          And priests in black gowns were walking their rounds,
          And binding with briars my joys and desires.

          Nail them up I say..

            My husbands gg grandfather went to Australia as penal prisoner with John Boyle O’Reilly … both Fenians. They were accused of “compassing” against Queen Victoria. They were imprisoned in Dublin and tried there. Then they were sent sent to London and imprisoned again for “the silent treatment” before being shipped out on the last sailing vessel that was ever to make the trip from London to Australia. They both did a lot of writing. Long very sad stories. I helped to transcribe some of it. Occurred in mid 1850’s

      Thank goodness we have open-minded, scientifically literate leaders like our soon-to-be president, who can set us straight.

  4. The temperatures have absolutely increased during the first part of the 20th century. That was totally predictable, considering the very cold weather that was normal in the 18th and 19 centuries. The last 20-30 years the temperatures have stayed quite stable and now it goes down again. Nothing special. Natural fluctuations are as old as the world.

  5. Today SST ( Sea Surface Temperature Anamoly)…A cold pacific….

    And speaking of cooling, the ongoing task of irradicating the data of 1970’s global cooling scare…

    And then there’s the data on ocean cycles and the powerful cooling effect of the deep deep ocean….which is pretty dam dark and cold…brrrrrrr

    And then there’s the pope talking trash, who gets his climate knowledge straight from the source…I would guess God tell him…

  6. Oliver K. Manuel says:

    The unfolding AGW scandal and the election of Donald Trump as the next President of the United States on November 8, 2016 may have frightened the Editor and publisher of Nature and members of the National Academies of Sciences into publishing a paper in Nature on-line on November 22, 2016 about a supernova explosion at the beginning of the solar system:

    The report falsely claims the supernova was nearby and triggered collapse of the cloud of material that formed the solar system. Peer-reviewed papers first published or presented in 1975-76 – showing that all primordial helium and neon came from the supernova – were not cited.

    Yesterday (December 28, 2016) publicized this deceptive story about the supernova explosion at the beginning of the world:

  7. Anyone that understands anything about “global warming” knows it’s all about MANIPULATING DATA.

    Did you know relatively decent records of climate have been kept for over 800 years, but they keep looking at the last 100 or so? In fact, records go back to ancient Roman times and prior.

    It’s only when you look the detail “in detail” you realise that the evidence (that’s the EVIDENCE) points to NO ICE AGE as commonly postulated by “scientists”.

    So where did all that ice come from? You ask.

    Good question, Jon, They tell us in the Vedic texts. An ancient moon was blown out of the sky, collided with the Earth and temporarily froze (what is now) the northern hemisphere. A strange geo-thermal affect was the result (planets work off similar dynamics to air conditioning systems so an advanced macro-engineer would be able to explain it).

    Yep, the Antarctica effect was the accidental result created by those that blew up the moon which goes to show super-intelligence is no guarantee of brains.

    Best seasonal wishes

    • “Yep, the Antarctica effect was the accidental result created by those that blew up the moon which goes to show super-intelligence is no guarantee of brains.”…

      HaHAHHAAA…that is far too funny. Awesome Ozzie…keep it up, don’t let the bastards get you down.

      There seems to be this scramble to eradicate historical records of climate, with wikipedia going through a purge.. and this slimy little bastards going through historical ship logs and the like to erase there existance. were are present in a book burning did’nt ya know.

      • You may laugh, MB,

        But it is a very deeply serious problem. Could the dereliction of truth be so great that people “believed” they were being pulled to Earth by “forces of nature” when, in fact, they were being PUSHED?

        Ah, dear sir, cork that bottle, lest the “genie” infect the masses for good 😉

  8. D3F1ANT says:

    LMAO! We ALL know there’s no Global Warming. We ALL know it’s a Leftist money-grab. Trump will make it OK to doubt Warming hucksters once again.

  9. Not So Free says:

    Does anyone remember that they were saying a new ice age was coming in the 1970’s?
    I believe it was a cover story on “Time” magazine.

  10. Ginger says:

    Then came the Rio conference in 1992, which is where the elites agreed that Global Warming would be the one (fake) concept that could unite the world to downsize, have more abortions, be less productive, and most ESPECIALLY have first world countries redistribute all their income to third world countries as “penance” for being successful. This is not a joke.

  11. Stephen says:

    […] You smear the scientific analysis developed by THOUSANDS of knowledgeable analysts in fields of meteorology, paleogeography, geophysics, physics, chemistry and thermodynamics — which is a scientific reality, like gravity and evolution — because you find it difficult to understand. […]
