The secret GMO war: double agents, betrayal, greed?

The secret GMO war: double agents, betrayal, greed?

I’ll start at an odd place, a seemingly innocuous place. Bear with me:

We need to understand the distinction between two kinds of labeling.

Voluntary labeling=“I own this health-food store, and I’m doing my best to sell you non-GMO products. All such products will carry a seal that says ‘Non-GMO’.”

Mandatory labeling=“Vermont has decided that all food products sold in the state which contain GMOs must be labeled as such—‘this product contains GMOs’.”

Two very different types of labels. They contain different information.

Also, one type is voluntary, and the other becomes mandatory after passage of a vote, in a legislature or through a ballot measure.

So what?

Well, let me put it to you this way. What would happen to Whole Foods’ program of voluntary GMO labeling if there were mandatory labeling across America, or in any state where Whole Foods does business?

Can you guess?

I’ll break it down. Whole Foods has pledged to put “non-GMO” labels on their products by 2018. They’ll do everything they can to sell as many non-GMO products as possible. The products that don’t carry the non-GMO seal will obviously be GMO, and customers can avoid them if they want to.

On the other hand, if suddenly, out of the blue, mandatory labeling became law, the whole voluntary non-GMO label enterprise would be obsolete. Why voluntarily put that label on products when mandatory labeling handles the whole issue?

“We put non-GMO labels on our food. Aren’t we wonderful?”

“Not really. The mandatory labels tell me everything that’s GMO. All the other products are non-GMO. Thanks, but no thanks.”

Does that show you something? Does it suggest that Whole Foods doesn’t really want mandatory labeling?

In fact, if mandatory labeling never passes anywhere in the US, this is a boon for Whole Foods, because they become the only big food chain that allows customers to know they’re choosing lots and lots of non-GMO food products.

There’s more.

Think about an outfit called the Non-GMO Project. They do certifications of food products, and allow their now-famous butterfly seal to be applied:

“Yes, sir, your energy bar has passed our rigid standards of testing, and it is non-GMO. Congratulations.”

Whole Foods is spending millions of dollars at the Non-GMO Project to get their products lab-tested and certified as “non-GMO.”

If there were mandatory labeling, that would all go away, too. Poof. The Non-GMO Project would shrink to the size of a button, and the testing labs the Project uses would take huge hits.

For example, a lab called Genetic ID in Iowa would suffer enormous consequences.

We’re not done yet.

There is a bill in the US Congress presently wending its through Committee. It was introduced by Kansas Congressman Mike Pompeo. It’s called “The Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2014” (HR4432).

If it passes, mandatory labeling of GMO foods will be outlawed at both state and federal levels. No more ballot initiatives. No more state bills.

So…in this topsy-turvy scene where things aren’t what they seem to be, who would want to see the Pompeo bill enacted into law? Who would look forward to a permanent ban on mandatory GMO labeling? Who would make a great deal of money if that bill passes—despite any public statements they might make to the contrary?

Two weeks ago, a Congressional Committee hearing was held on the pending Pompeo bill. A man named Scott Faber testified.

Who is Scott Faber? (twitter)

He’s the executive director of Just Label It, the pre-eminent organization dedicated to mandatory labeling of GMO foods. He’s also the VP of Governmental Affairs for the powerful Environmental Working Group.

In his testimony, Faber said all the right things about wanting mandatory labeling of GMO foods. Therefore, he opposes passage of the Pompeo bill, right?

However, Faber also offered this stunning statement to the Committee. Buckle up:

“We do not oppose… genetically modified food ingredients. We think there are many promising applications of genetically modified food ingredients… I am optimistic that the promises that were made by the providers of this technology will ultimately be realized…that we will have traits that produce more nutritious food that will see significant yield…” (see the 2h29m05s mark here)

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlfpViqjJTE&w=480&h=360]

And oh yes. In his former job, Scott Faber was, get this, the vice-president for government affairs, of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, the GMA. Ring a bell? This is the organization that donated millions to DEFEAT mandatory GMO labeling in several Western states.

And now he is Executive Director of Just Label It, the core group pushing FOR mandatory GMO labeling.

How far down the rabbit hole does all this go? Does Just Label It really want mandatory labeling? Was it created as some kind of distraction? A distraction from the far more serious business of trying to BAN GMOs? Was it a way to guide millions of well-meaning people down a false trail to a dead-end, where there is no mandatory labeling and no banning, and the expansion of GMOs and toxic herbicides continues unabated? Where the only stop-gap against Monsanto is a voluntary system of labeling, controlled by a relatively small number of retailers who profit enormously from inventing a tier of elite food products bearing the “non-GMO” seal?

Gary Hirshberg (twitter) was a founding partner of Just Label It. He is the CEO of Stonyfield Farms, the famous yogurt company.

Of all the leaders in the labeling movement, Hirshberg is the most overtly political. Let’s look at his strange track record:

During the 2008 presidential campaign season, his home in New Hampshire was a mandatory stop for candidates. Hirshberg’s first choice for the Democratic nomination was the execrable Tom Vilsack until he dropped out of the race.

Hirshberg hosted gatherings for John Edwards and Barack Obama, and eventually decided to support Obama.

Obama, despite his nods and winks, was, from the beginning, Monsanto’s man in Washington, allowing an unprecedented parade of new GMO crops to enter growing fields and the marketplace, and appointing staunch biotech allies to key posts in his administration.

Vilsack, Gary Hirshberg’s first choice for President, became the Secretary of Agriculture under Obama. Vilsack is an avid supporter of GMO food. During his term as governor of Iowa, Vilsack was given a Governor of the Year award by the Biotechnology Industry Organization.

Hirshberg serves as a co-chairman of an organization called AGree (twitter). Its objective is to “build consensus around solutions” to “critical issues facing the food and agriculture system.” As researcher Nick Brannigan (twitter) has pointed out, AGree includes, among its foundation partners: the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

It would be hard to find foundations more friendly to, and supportive of, big corporate agriculture and GMOs.

Hirshberg is the author of Stirring It Up: How to Make Money and Save the World. He advocates revolution-by-the-consumer as an exceedingly powerful force.

It may be pretty to think so, but giving American consumers a clear choice about whether to buy GMO or non-GMO food, through labeling, isn’t going to push Monsanto up against the wall.

It isn’t going to stop Monsanto gene drift into non-GMO crops. It isn’t going to stop the aerial attack of toxic Roundup all over the planet.

But if mandatory labeling of GMOs fails, and all that’s left is voluntary labeling, Hirshberg could help launch Stonyfield Farms and other commercial ventures into new realms of profitability, by applying that “non-GMO” seal.

power outside the matrix

Let’s widen our inquiry. There is an organization called the Natural Products Association. It’s the largest trade and lobbying group in North America for natural nutritional-supplement companies. You’d think this group would be squarely in the camp of the anti-GMO movement, if the word “natural” means anything at all.

Well, the executive director of the Natural Products Association is Daniel Fabricant. (twitter)

Pop quiz: what federal agency gave the original blanket approval, based on no science, for GMO crops, allowing them to enter the US food supply in the 1990s? Which agency has, for decades, consistently fought to whittle down the power and scope of the natural nutritional-supplement industry?

The FDA.

What was Daniel Fabricant’s job before he became executive director of the Natural Products Association?

Fabricant was director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs at the FDA.

In December of this year, the Natural Products Association held a webinar. As reported in the Food Navigator (12/19), “5 GMO myths dispelled,” one of its speakers was Greg Jaffe.

A lawyer, Jaffe (bio here) has logged stints with the EPA, FDA, DOJ, and World Bank—all groups that, in one way or another, have vigorously supported GMOs.

Jaffe proceeded to make a case for GMOs, “dispelling the myths” prevalent in the anti-GMO community.

So you have the leading trade group for the natural products industry giving a heavy wink and nod to GMO foods.

According to the Food Navigator article, Jaffe explained that the process of using bacteria to carry foreign genes into a food plant is really quite natural. Which is like saying that a glass eye is natural.

Then Jaffe presents the tired generality: “Evidence is overwhelming that there is no harm from foods made from current GE [genetic engineered] foods.” As “evidence,” he cites the FDA approval of biotech crops. The FDA—which has basically stated that Monsanto, Dow, and the other mega-giants are basically responsible for assuring the safety of GMOs.

All this cover for GMOs is being presented in a trade magazine vis-a-vis a trade group for the natural food products industry.

Is the war against Monsanto and GMOs and toxic herbicides rigged to fail?

Citing betrayal within the anti-GMO anti-Monsanto movement, an astute observer with large knowledge of the scene recently gave me his appraisal of what amounts to a covert op against the millions of people who want a healthier non-GMO future. Here’s how he succinctly described the men taking us down the wrong road:

“Gary Hirshberg is the pied piper, John Mackey [CEO of Whole Foods] is the money man, and Daniel Fabricant is the enforcer.”

Yet another eye-opening article. Based on revolving door career paths, backroom alliances, and probably well funded think tanks laying out long term strategies, the ruling class seem to have all the bases covered to maximize profits in every area of life, and at the expense and well-being of the rest of us. Even while, in many cases, coming off as the good guys. Deception is the name of the game apparently. It always blows my mind to think, it’s at least plausible anyway, that the society we live in is completely engineered, designed to profit off of the unaware — the vast majority of us. Really amazing, maybe even brilliant. Not sure how these people sleep at night though — probably quite well and with a smile on their face. Is it time, as individuals, to start dialing out of their system yet?

Sad, Sad, Sad. Poison, Toxins, “The Genetic Alteration”, but that won’t work. It is designed to fail. It seems that there is an evil that is trying to take over the state of awareness. It seems that there is an evil that is trying to take over the state of awareness, but not me and I will have the way of accomplishment and Life.

    Oh Boy! We’re screwed.

How can it be that every so called anti-GMO American experts are in bed with the Pro-GMO’s criminal gang?

Is America so corrupted to the bones, that there is no hope in sight?

Why is it that 60 countries around the world have placed strict regulation on GMOs, or prohibited them?

What does that say for America?

“We now live in a nation where doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information, religion destroys morals, and our banks destroy the economy.”

    Dear Jon and fellow readers:

Great article and all true. All these examples are nothing but the strategy of CONTROLLED OPPOSITION. This is just a distraction. People are led to believe that GMO labelling is the right thing to do eventhough GMO foods will become the norm. The real answer concerning GMO’s is to get rid of them entirely. Only foods like yogurts and cheeses are acceptable or foods like beer and wine. Everything else with GMO ingredients is not allowed (corn, soy, wheat, canola, etc.) Thanks, Norbert.

  6. procomptor says:

Very good work Jon! As you pointed out Obama is in bed with these companies so you can bet his re-election campaign and the money in his retirement plan has really benefited from all this.

You can also see the strategy used by the Obama administration being used in ” Pro-GMO’s ” campaign. This whole covert type of operation with government plants and false flags is not only the basis of corrupt governments and businesses but is also Lucifer’s world in a nutshell! This is not only in the Bible but prevalent in most governments around the world used as a means of control funded by the elite world banking group on behalf of the Illuminati.

The USDA Organic label guarantees your food contains:
    * no Genetically Modified Organisms (note-1)
    * no toxic pesticides
    * no growth hormones or antibiotics (livestock only?)
    * (heavy metals, I am assuming are not measured) (assume they are present?)
    * note-1: what is the percentage? 99% GMO free?

Non-GMO Project Verified label guarantees your food contains:
    * no Genetically Modified Organisms (note-2)
    * (toxic pesticides, I am assuming, are not measured) (assume they are present?)
    * (growth hormones or antibiotics, I am assuming, are not measured) (assume they are present?) (livestock only?)
    * (heavy metals, I am assuming, are not measured) (assume they are present?)
    * note-2: what is the percentage? 99% GMO free?

    • George says:

The Non-GMO Project Verified is strictly relating to GMO ingredients. It has nothing to do with organic. Thus, traditionally grown and produced foods that contain pesticides and herbicides can still be Non GMO Verified.

II’m eating right now some potato chips that are made by Kettle Brand.

    Here is their labeling:

    Non GMO Project, verified

    – No Trans fat
    – No MSG
    – No Preservatives
    – Gluten free
    – Made with natural oils
    – No artificial colours or flavours.

    Now, list of ingredients:

    – Potatoes, sawflower and/or sunflower and/or canola oil, sea salt

    And they add this text:

“These Sea Salt chips have bold flavour and hearty crunch.
They taste so great because they are made from our finest potatoes and oils, using craft cooking methods.
And they’re backed by a commitment to sustainability like wind power, solar, green building and biodiesel.
Kettle Brand Potatio Chips: Simply great tasting potato chips, made with premium ingredients by a company that cares”.

    ————–

It is incredible what they have to go through and do and write on their labelings to convince us that their product is organic. And I’m still not completely convinced…lol… since the product is made in USA.
That means that the potatoes were washed with fluorided and other toxic chemicals water, and that these potatoes grew in US soils who are almost all indirectly contamitated by GMO with the winds.

Still, I eat them.. they really taste good.
But the only REAL solution, would be a complete ban of GMO food in this world.

    • theodorewesson says:

I was wondering, in general, if there are GMO (*) potatoes on the market ((*)note: where ‘gmo’ strictly means engineered to be herbicide resistent, or, engineered to have the herbicide engneered into it), so I did a startpage.com search and found a very recent interesting new development in so-called “commercial bio-technology [GMO-technology]”,…

Here now comes “GMO v2.0”: Using a process called “RNA interference” to take genes from other varieties of their own kind [in this case potatoes] and mix them together to create a new variety — that has traits the “consumer” [not citizen] wants. Marketer’s, most likely, will say the net effect is akin to “traditional breeding”, I would think. Oh, is the “Innate” [marketing name] potato grown using a “terminator” seed?

So, one question I had is, will these new GMO potatoes be grown with or without pesticides? Regardless, I would think that it would still disqualify them for the “Non-GMO Project Verified” butterfly seal.

The elephants still in the room are the pesticides and the soils with poor trace mineral content and the GMOs that are in the context of herbicide resistance. I do not know what to make of this new “GMO development”.

      Here are two interesting articles,…

USDA Approves A Genetically Modified Potato With Possible Health Benefits: Unlike other GMO crops, the potatoes’ new qualities come from added doses of potato genes, instead of genes taken from other species.
By Francie Diep Posted November 10, 2014

      http://www.popsci.com/article/science/usda-approves-genetically-modified-potato-possible-health-benefits

      [snip]

The potatoes are part of a newer generation of genetically modified crops that:

      * are made by a newer genetic technique called RNA interference

      * are made with traits that consumers may want, not just farmers and shippers.

Previously, genetically modified crops in the U.S. were created with qualities that benefit farmers and shippers only, such as being Roundup Ready [toxic herbicide] [resistant] [glyphosate resistant]. (Outside of the U.S., researchers have developed GMO crops to help combat malnutrition.)

      [snip]

…”Innate” [marketing name] potatoes get their improved qualities from genes taken from other varieties of their own kind. That is, Innate potatoes have added gene fragments taken from other cultivated and wild potatoes… ***That contrasts with today’s most popular genetically engineered crops, which get their new qualities from genes taken from different species, such as bacteria.*** [emphasis added]

      [snip]

The “Innate” potato was engineered by the J.R. Simplot agribusiness company to bruise less and to produce less of a potentially cancer-causing compound when fried. The USDA recently deregulated the genetically modified organism, allowing it to be grown without restriction.

      [snip]

To gain acceptance, Innate potatoes will have to overcome the misgivings of some consumers as well as farmers, with each group having different reasons to feel uneasy about the crop, experts say.

“This whole GMO thing is so polarizing. It really doesn’t seem to matter what the facts are,” said Tom Gillpatrick, executive director of the Food Industry Leadership Center at Portland State University.

On one hand, Innate has several advantages over previous biotech [GMO] potato cultivars, he said.

Aside from the consumer benefits and lack of non-potato genes, J.R. Simplot’s variety isn’t associated with herbicide resistance — a common target of GMO critics who claim such traits lead to people ingesting toxic chemicals, Gillpatrick said.

Also, outside agriculture, J.R. Simplot isn’t as commonly known as Monsanto, a brand that is highly villified by activists, he said.

      [snip]

      • George says:

I will not eat anything containing canola oil. I do not believe it is possible to have non GMO canola and even if so it contains eurisic acid which at anything over 3% can cause lesions in heart muscle. All rapeseed (canola or Canadian oil) has undergone the genetic modification to remove most of the eurisic acid. It isn’t clear to me how this was achieved, whether thru biotechnology, traditional cross breeding, or irradiation. Regardless, how can any canola be truly “organic” if it has undergone a process to remove this acid.

        • Elsa says:

I use only ghee, butter, olive oil or rice bran oil for cooking. I believe that corn and vegetable oils destroy our health despite the little, smiling red heart to be found on some labels.

        • I prefer the original name…it tells the real truth of this poison.
It is Rape seed because it attacks the body.
One simply needs to walk through a canola (Rapeseed) processing plant to realize what this crap really is…the process that is used to get those tiny black seeds to release oil is not what you would call food processing…but is the same process that was initially used to make machine oils for steam engines and in latter years in diesel electric submarines.
it is interesting to note that in its initial move to becoming a food product. Rapeseed was use to make a primitive form of margarine and a cake for animal feed…the margarine mix was use as turkey food. Turkeys refuse to eat it useless there was no other food stuff available. Mammals become ill and die when they eat this poison.
The erucic acid is decreased in the processing of the seeds into oil…it takes Lye to remove it.
Rapeseed kills the earth in which it grows in for neighboring plants. Rapeseed depletes the soil of nitrogen, it is a glutton for nitrogen and this is not completely a feeding mechanism . But, defensive against other species of plant. It is estimated that it takes four years to recovery from a crop of rape, unless petrochemicals such as anhydrous ammonia are used to replenish the nitrogen loss. Anhydrous ammonia is roughly 85% nitrogen by volume. The growth of rape seed and the subsequent petrochemical repair along with the herbicide round-up and pesticides kill soil fungi, which will eventually cause the collapse of the soil.

          @ Theodore
It is high deep frying temperatures of oils such as rapeseed oil that cause the production of toxics such as acrylamide…which is extremely cancinogenic.
It is the high deep frying temperatures and that rapeseed oil does not break down under such conditions that make this oil so cost effective for the fast food industry.
Also to note, the human body never get to those extreme temperatures especially during digestion to break down such a fat molecule…in the digestive process the body become confused and does know what to do with rapeseed (canola), thus leading to allergy, organ sickness and obesity.
One would be simply astounded to find out how many processed foods Rapeseed (Canola) is present in…to state that organic canola oil (rapeseed) is better is an oxymoron.
Some oils are not meant to be eaten…such is the case of Canola (rapeseed).
The only reason why we consume it is because it causes illness and death.

The objective is not just financial profits . . . but massive reduction of the population of ‘inferiors’ who they see as ‘useless eaters’ on ‘their’ planet. Jon’s interviews with ‘Medavoy’ goes into this a bit.
Allow for the possibility that the USA is now under the control of and rule of Nazis . . . and much of what is done today makes perfect sense. (If you would have put forth such a hypothesis to me 7 years ago, I would have thought it as ‘impossible’ and ‘ridiculous’. Not now, after digging deeply into the subject.) The general public is very trusting and naive. For the Nazis, this is nothing but another justification for their contempt and proof of the people’s inferiority.
