It’s been thirty-six months since I first posted this. Would love to hear your thoughts on this article and President Trump three-years on. Sound off in the comments…
My position on Donald Trump
December 2016
I’ve written many words about the man and what he’s been doing. To repeat a few of them, his two most important achievements are: he’s contributing, in a major way, to the ongoing destruction of the credibility of big media; and he kept Hillary Clinton out of the White House.
Concerning the media— I am tremendously enthusiastic about what Trump has done. I pop champagne corks on that one. He’s provided a public service for the ages. We would be light years beyond where we are now, if the world of conventional journalism hadn’t sold its soul, its morality, its intelligence, and its hunger for getting to the bottom of things so long ago. In his own improvisations and riffs, Trump has turned the media stars on their heads looking out of their asses. He has been merciless. He has worked acrobatic tricks worthy of a Salvador Dali. When they thought he was here, he was there. When they thought they had him pinned against the wall, he vanished and there was no wall. When they thought he was done, he was starting. When they assumed they were occupying a higher position, he was poking them in the solar plexus of their pretensions and exposing them as rank amateurs. They go sober-serious, he laughs. They deride and mock him, he reminds them they’re supposed to be professional. They scream and go ballistic, he walks away. He’s supposed to be in Washington, he’s in New York. He’s supposed to lay out his schedule for them, he vanishes. He shouldn’t talk to a foreign leader, he talks to a foreign leader. The Washington Post reports the Russians hacked the election, he says the CIA is making it up.
Make no mistake about it, Globalists of every stripe and disguise infect Washington like the plague. Their goals, reputations, connections, and paychecks are on the line. They want to neutralize Trump by any means possible. He has hammered the TPP, and said he’ll cancel it (Chuck Schumer has already said it’s dead). He is raising the banner of nationalism, not Globalism, and he promises to bring back jobs to America…everything he promises in this regard is running counter to the Rockefeller agenda of destruction.
Will he change the pernicious culture, which is devolving to the point where “free-everything” for nothing is considered the most illuminated version of political philosophy? He will try, but indirectly, by opening up new levels of employment.
Will he continue to slam major media control of the information flow? Yes. In that regard, he has already done more than any president in modern history.
And if language is important (and it is), his communication with the American people, in its direct colloquial style, is a distinct departure from the polished, empty, grotesque media/politician mechanical mind-numbing bullshit that has all but taken over the landscape.
Will he try to curtail the divide-and-conquer “race-war” mentality that has been heavily promoted over the last eight years? Again, his basic strategy is: give people jobs. Renew the economy. Float all boats.
Will Trump curtail open borders and reduce the reality of terrorists and criminals entering the US? Will he knock aside the unproven claims of global warmists and erase the absurd and dangerous carbon-tax plan? Will he rebuild the fading infrastructure of this country? Will he put Common Core out of its misery? I believe he will make progress in all these areas. How much progress? Impossible to predict.
Will he refuse to launch wars and covert ops of Empire? Will he bring massive numbers of US troops stationed abroad back home, kick the neocons out on their asses, and scale back the enormous influence of the military-industrial complex, which, after JFK, encircled America with its dream of a forever World Empire? This would be one of the most important actions he could launch as president. And the effort is like trying to turn an oil tanker around in a small space. To the degree he rebuilds the military, he’ll keep pouring $$ into the maw of the military-industrial machine. I think it’s possible that he and his advisors see, from a purely pragmatic viewpoint, that American Empire has reached an end-point. It is a failure. It can’t go further. The blowback on America has outflanked its lists of Empire-conquests. However, until Trump shows he’s really going to try to cancel the neocon American Empire, and means it, I’m not making any assumptions whatsoever.
Is Donald Trump more than a puppet in the hands of Globalists? I believe he is more than that.
Is he a mere tool who was handed the election by Globalists who realized Hillary Clinton was too sick and deranged to stay the course in the White House? I believe he is not a mere tool in their hands, even if they ended up supporting him.
Does he want the job of president ONLY for the purpose of feathering his personal nest and stroking his own ego? I don’t think that’s the case now, if it ever was.
***However, unraveling his myriad business interests is necessary, in order to discover whether his decisions as president add to his wealth. Handing over those businesses to his family isn’t a barrier against self-aggrandizing policies. Trump is, after all, a real estate hustler from way back.
One question in this regard: Trump appears ready to give US corporations a tax holiday, so they can bring back huge amounts of money they’ve stashed overseas, for the express purpose of buying shares of their own companies. This practice has been a way CEOs can make their operations look good (share prices go up) while actually producing nothing new. As a reader of mine suggested (and I ask), will this Trump policy of share-buying do nothing to rejuvenate those businesses, thus creating no new jobs? And will this policy enable Trump’s family to buy shares in whatever piece of the Trump empire is publicly traded, pushing up its stock price? This needs serious attention.
Will Trump roll back the many local incarnations of the UN’s criminal Agenda 21 blueprint for closely monitored, extensively planned technocratic towns and cities? I’m not sure he’s even aware of this massive incursion on life in America—aside from sanctuary cities fronted by virtue-signaling liberal snowflakes and paid operatives. He will take steps to reduce those bastions of hope and change.
Is it possible that, when all is said and done, Trump’s most important action will have been his merciless attack on major media—and by extension, their Globalist handlers? Yes. And by my measure, he would then have achieved a step toward freeing information and truth from its century-long prison of mind control. The consequences of such a liberation could be titanic. In the long run, Trump is far less important than the millions of people who could wake up from their deep slumber.
I believe Trump’s plan to bring employment back to America will involve a kind of FDR/New Deal program of trillion-dollar government contracts to rebuild the infrastructure. This is by no means free-market America. If his plan gets through the Congress, many new jobs will be created, yes. On the other hand, the $$ power of the federal government will increase. It’s never a great idea to give the feds more control as the number-one employer in the nation.
I think Trump favors jobs, all jobs, and will go to extremes to create them. This includes giving the green light to tech giants to keep carrying out contracts to expand the Surveillance State. He’ll find ways to allow the FDA to license new drugs more quickly, thus maiming and killing more Americans. He’ll cast a blind eye toward big corporate toxic GMOs/pesticides. He’ll overlook and ignore major areas of agricultural and industrial pollution, and permit them to expand.
Will Trump curtail the disturbing trend of militarizing local police forces across America? Doubtful.
Will he root out and eliminate the power of vicious gangs in inner cities—gangs who are holding residents hostage in their own communities? I believe he’ll make at least a minimum effort. Even if a president is motivated, that’s a very tall order.
I assume that as a businessman he has committed criminal acts of one kind or another. Do they rank as high as the pay-for-play Clinton Foundation and the mass obliteration of Libya, two of Hillary Clinton’s favorite operations? No. Not even close.
Will Trump favor big-corporate cronies with the gift of government contracts? I would think so.
Will he make deals and side-deals, some of which go beyond the literal bounds of law, to advance his presidential agenda? I would certainly think so. What president hasn’t?
Could everything I’m mentioning in this article go by the boards, because Trump’s enemies create sudden disasters for him to manage—disasters which dwarf all other issues and programs? Absolutely.
Could Trump himself make a fatal error that brings his house down? For example, could his advisors convince him to make a wide-ranging deal with Russia that includes the extradition of Edward Snowden to stand trial in America? Maybe.
Could Trump be convinced to start a dangerous war somewhere, perhaps in response to a planned false-flag operation designed for that very purpose? It’s possible.
Does he see that so-called liberals, who are really socialists and Globalists and technocrats, have come very close to taking over this country, under the banner of “share and care” and “empathy” and “love”—behind which they hide an endless supply of venom for those people who believe in a) working for their own rewards; b) individualism; and c) independence of thought? I think he plans to approach that gigantic reality with jobs and more jobs; his blanket solution. Put America back to work. Is that a real solution? Yes, it certainly helps. But here we are talking about the culture, and what he can possibly say to the American people to restore a sense of traditional values (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) that doesn’t come across as vapid sentimentality. He is a clever man. I believe he wants to sidestep a direct confrontation with “the values issue.” Instead, he wants to cure the genuine desperation many Americans feel because they can’t find decent work. He wants to create a boom in the domestic economy that floats all boats. I can’t fault him for that. However, a major part of the US economy has long been predicated on jobs that either produce nothing or produce toxic outcomes. Those engines aren’t going to go away.
I believe Trump can make progress in decimating the political-correctness disease. I believe he can help reverse the obsession with parsing people’s words and finding “hidden racist content.” And the issue where all this rubber meets the road is: immigration.
His opponents will keep saying that anything less than wide open borders is Hitlerian. His point is: there is a threat and a danger. Letting in felons; letting in potential terrorists and actual terrorists; letting in people who hate America and want everything they can get for free in America; letting in people who take jobs from Americans (including legal immigrants); letting in people who overburden the economy via all the free services they can obtain—this is wrong, this is suicide, this is crazy. It has nothing to do with racism.
If he succeeds in reducing this immigration threat—wall or no wall—he will go a significant distance in proving that protecting America has nothing to do with hatred.
At the same time (and I have to stress this again), he can’t decide to keep forwarding Empire abroad, thus exacerbating the desire for revenge against America among many people who feel the destructive force of the US military machine.
If he turns into just another jingoist, he’s finished. And he should be.
He needs to talk to Ron Paul. At length.
What about draining the swamp in Washington? This is another case of trying to turn around an oil tanker in a small space. He needs to provide vivid examples. For starters, he should pursue, with all speed, the gathering of specific evidence for the prosecution of Hillary and Bill Clinton, vis-à-vis the Clinton Foundation and its nefarious activities. No stone should be left unturned. That would set a new tone.
For people who need a heavy dose of who and what the Clintons are, I recommend immersing yourself in everything the late Christopher Hitchens wrote and said about them. (I’m sure Hitchens would hate a Trump presidency.)
—If I were in charge of everything from the beginning of the Republic in the 18th century (!), my goal would have been to make a hundred Republics with severely limited governments on this continent—with virtually no foreign entanglements of any kind (political or commercial)—instead, opting for self-sufficiency as the primary value. But that’s another story for another time. Meanwhile, I see a glint of light here, and I see risks and possibilities, and I see that perhaps we can make steps toward ridding America of the festering woes that have beset it: Empire, on the one hand; hideous liberalism masking a technocratic Globalist takeover that would sink us, on the other hand.
At no time over the past 30 years of working as a reporter have I felt all is lost. At no time have I felt that the forces arrayed against us are too great or too smart. At no time have I felt that all doors are closed. I take the long view. Many things can happen to wake people up—mainly themselves when they finally feel their way of operating and living has become self-defeating.
Rather than opting for pure hope now, I believe Trump’s feet should be held to the fire. He made promises. Those promises are clear. We should see authentic efforts from him in those directions.
I’m aware that some readers can only accept extreme views of Trump or any politician. Wonderful or terrible. Messianic or hideous. That’s not what I’ve presented here. I’ve presented what I see. So be it.
Stay tuned…

Trump’s attack on fake news and globalist agenda has exposed to many what was previously unseen. Kudos to him for that. My greatest hope for this country is Deep State exposure and I think he can do it with enough support from awakened citizens.
Where’s the “Like button?
Few personal web pages have a “Like” button. You only see that on FB and some other video sharing sites like BitChute and YT. Besides, the author hasn’t the time to track who voted and how. It’s just not useful for Jon. If you like it you will subscribe or even, perhaps, buy his books, the best “thumbs up” a fella can ask for!
Yes, I concur
Thanks for reposting! It’s pretty accurate, all in all!
Great work Jon. Visionary and pragmatic. We need to see beyond the sound bytes of pro and anti president trump to what he’s actually doing to promote freedom. Thank you.
He sure is better than any of the RINO neocons or the Marxist Demorats, but why are the perpetrators of the illegal aggressive wars, and the false flags against our own people, still walking free? Why are the borders still so porous? Why has Trump let the deep state rope him like a dope? It is infuriating? Why can’t he kick the mainstream fake news mass media traitors out of the White House press corps and invite only honest, real journalists, and speak openly in some fireside chat-like addresses to the people, about the treason and sedition of the big tech oligarchs and deep state leftist holdover networks, and — as you suggested — consult with Ron Paul? Why isn’t he being interviewed by people like you, or Alsex Jones, or David Knight, or Stephan Molyneux, or James Corbett, or anyone (regardless of their specific political preferences/leanings) who is not in favor of a totalitarian global government and not a Marxist POS?
It is quite disheartening to see him miss all of the opportunities.
The correct term for Trump’s 36 months is Hope Porn. He is a globalist and the policies continue. Maybe we even get WWIII out of him, see today’s headlines.
I know you were happy to see the media attacked, but now where are we? Phony fake news keepers pushing all the alternative views off the internet, deleting all their videos and accounts.
Did he lock anyone up? Did he build that wall? Did he reduce the deficit? The list goes on. Oh he talks a good line but then does what his handlers tell him to do.
Infrastructure spending? Our infrastructure isn’t crumbling, but it is lacking in the necessary tech to accommodate controlled mobility (“mobility as a service” – autonomous vehicles) that they are going to shove down our throats. The 5G surveillance plan is okay with him – full speed ahead.
I know you will say – it could have been Hillary – but there were 8 people on my ballot here in Florida not two.
Trump got elected because the establishment wanted him elected. He didn’t even attempt to drain the swamp. And where is that Robert Kennedy Jr appointment to report out on vaccines? NDAA still has that indefinite confinement clause too.
If you look closely past the hate on both sides, you see the scenery and screen writers are all the same.
AI and 5G are taking the jobs and drudge is again reporting Americans training their foreign replacement workers.
But all is good in twitterland.
We must all pray for America, she is just about dead.
Marilynne, yes, they are all the same! And yes on todays headlines, they are using our precious boys/men for their own greed. People need to wake up.
Chuck Baldwin has some good info he is sharing about Trump.
Right on. His reneging on vaccine injury investigation – reportedly after a meeting with Bill Gates, no less – has exposed him as just another oligarch, albeit more of the 19th century stripe than the 21st century stripe.
Very good, I really have an interest in an experience outside the box on the planet, on all levels.
Trump CLAIMS to be against the TPP but instead Champions the USMCA. The USMCA is the American trade union, exactly the same as the European Union, where we lose control of our borders just like Europe and just like in the EU we lose our sovereignty. I believe the circus between Trump and the media is scripted by both parties to distract us from the passage of FASAB 56 (where they took the government accounting dark)and the passage of the USMCA (currently happening as I write)which puts us under a banker run “American trade union” that will Trump (HAHA,not really funny) our constitution. The left, right and Trump came together on those two issues to screw over the people and not a peep out of the media either.
I enjoy reading your work. Thank you-Rick
Yes, I agree and people need to open their eyes.
I think this article pretty well sums it up. As to why this swamp cleaning is not happening fast enough….I would say this monster was not built in a few years. This entire global mess has taken many centuries with the same families in charge. Is Trump from one of these families? I would answer, yes, he is indeed. High above all the words and 3D illusions are people who know how the pot is stirred. They know what spices and ingredients to add. I think what we are witnessing here on planet Earth at this time is ONE last attempt for a Family coup before the PEOPLE wake up and completely re vamp how everything works. When the rubble settles we will see a world without greed/corruption/disease. It is OUR energy that fuels this mess. Our energy the “families” need to sustain their world of darkness. So, I see Trump as a necessary piece to this beautiful game. Because once humanity finally wakes up, all of us together, we are a power to be reckoned with.
No, we are not. We are slaves who don’t want to think.
Actually, we are both, all at the same time.
That’s a beautiful idea for a children’s book. Pure fictional idealism about the PEOPLE waking up, rising up, and making the world positively Utopian.
Back here on earth, where at least one out of every ten people is on a power trip, to the exclusion of all morals and ethics, Trump (with all his flaws) came along like a breath of fresh air to me, after having become increasingly distressed with the direction things were going (and I voted for Obama).
Just the fact that the media is falling all over itself, and elitists are spending God-only-knows-how-much-money, in doing their damndest to instigate public hatred of him, tells me that the feeling of relief I had when he was elected was a valid perception.
I can’t possibly agree with him (or anyone) on everything, but I do believe that he is holding back the hounds for awhile, and throwing a monkey wrench into the fruition of very dark plans by a very sinister group of people in world power.
You should send this article to Infowars, you would get thousands of comments.
As far as I am Concerned, I believe that Trump will win on all sides and send the Globalists to hell
Donald Trump…….Neocon property
I give up.
Trump is all that is keeping us from a complete cabal takeover with its concomitant destruction of our lives, liberty and our pursuit of happiness. He is a literal godsend. He’s taking the blows, one after the other, and all the while the formerly sleeping masses awaken to the pickle their slumber has put us in.
Those who smugly say he’s done nothing, put yourself in his shoes. His family is all he can trust. He’s fighting our battle with his genius, his wits and his family.
I send prayers of thanks to him as often as I can.

Trump’s been bought out and it’s not pretty. Yeah, he may not be a darling of the Deep State, but he has some strings pulling the shots behind the scenes for sure. America has the wool pulled over its head, with the media spin on Russiagate, etc. It’s obvious these diversions keep the public fired up and divided. But as an individual, he’s vainglorius, petty and self-centered. And as for our environment. The word is not even in his vocabulary! This is probably my biggest gripe–this president cares nothing about our natural world. Public Lands be damned! Drill it, mine it, open it up! The natural heritage of America is so threatened, and once despoiled is gone for lifetimes. I didn’t want Hillary, I didn’t want Trump; my presidential candidate wasn’t on the ballet.
Trump is continuing the looting of the middle class, aiming to strip our national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and other lands of protection.
Now, how about the Fed quietly pouring billions into Wall Street this fall? Falsely pumping up the stock market? Trump: is your name on this?

Great article, Jon. Not sure if I linked this one in the past: couldn’t find it in my archives. But it’s linked now @ https://nothingnewunderthesun2016.com/
I think Trump is just great. I hope he is genius enough to get all of us out of this huge mess, especially me. I just want to be free and safe and rich. What is so god dog wrong about that. No! the world wants to be crazy or allow crazy to go on because I have no idea why. Gary Johnson couldn’t do it, faker. So I guess Mr Trump is my only hope. Go Trump, Go Trump.

First I want to thank you Jon for your honest and dedicated reporting of what can be verified, for that you are one of my most favorite truth tellers. You cannot possibly know how few they are when the American public is slammed by all the fake news on all the networks and we must search the internet for honest reporters reporting events and documents that tell us what we really want to know. At 73 I no longer want to do the validation that is required to check reporter bias and income streams instead I rely on previously validated reporters and spend the rest of my free time on the golf course or with my anti-political wife.
I am on the fence with Trump, I have defended him vigorously with my progressive liberal friends and family and will continue to do so but they are all dropping like flies from our communication as they see that I will not bend to their CNN, NBC, CBS, PBS, and ABC laughable views. I may drop too if Trump sinks into being another tool of the Deep State set up to polarize the populace into endless bickering. I need to see top dogs imprisoned, like Hillary, Comey, and Brennan. I also need to see at the very least 40 members of the House of Representatives who are obvious shills of the Deep State taken out of the House and replaced by Constitution loving members from any party. And no Bernie is not one of the Constitutional loving members.
I’ll end with a thanks once again for your tireless work to bring honesty to reporting.
James W. DeCosta ~~
I wholeheartedly concur.
Hope to meet you on a golf course sometime soon.
Seems like you read him well at the beginning of his term.
My biggest concern is something like I observed during the BO tyranny. I walked into the home of one of my neighbors and saw a huge portrait of BO enhanced with godlike traits. I see some of this with the DT base. I’m a fan, but he is human, and not God. It shouldn’t all be on him for good or ill. We should be able and allowed to manage or own lives. Like you’ve said so often, less government please, even if it is run by someone who is the least loathsome of the past 20-30 years.
Thank you for another thoughtful well written blog.
Trump is the best thing to happen in politics in my 69 years of life. God has used this flawed man to show the left in all their wicked ugliness for all the world to see. It’s such fun to watch the left display such insanity in their vicious hatred of Trump. But draining the swamp is a joke. The deep state is all too powerful. I think Trump means well and does some good things but the bad things he does negates the good. He makes great speeches with big promises but often fails to follow through. He’s ignorant of the conspiratorial nature of our government and so the deep state has learned to often manipulate him, especially in foreign policy. Trump isn’t a globalist but he keeps unknowingly bringing in those that are. But for all his faults he’s a heck of lot better than anybody else that could be President and I pray to God he’s re-elected this year. At least he has slowed down America’s ultimate destruction. No other President in my lifetime has stood up for the sanctity of life and been such a friend to Christians as he has. All other Republican Presidents have just given lip service.
It appears to me President Trump has been a frustration to the US war industry. This contrasts to what the world would have witnessed had Hillary Clinton been elected. Am I incorrect to assume that had Hillary been elected major populated areas of Iran would have soon been destroyed?
President Trump is not immune to being played by the shadow government, the very powers for whom both Clintons were willing servants, as was Presidents Obama and George W. Bush. Even so, it appears president Trump can smell a false flag operation, and rather than respond by approving massive bombing against non-aggressive, made-up “enemies”, he has attempted to appease the shadow government (and their gullible hawks here in the US population) by approving very targeted, pinpoint strikes.
Thank you Joh Rappoport for the work you do.
Jon: You’ve been right all along. Don’t you just love it!
Donald Trump is many things. He may accurately be described as crude, shrewd, intense, accomplished, certainly wealthy, a bit of a playboy, occasionally less than totally forthcoming, but never anything other than completely authentic. He is who he is. What you see is what you get, and that’s exactly what America both needed and wanted. Since his inauguration he has lived up to his commitments and his word. He has fulfilled more of his promises to the American People than all the previous presidents in my 77 year lifetime.. His loyalty, since the moment he took the oath, had been solely to the best interest of America and the lawful taxpaying citizenry of this country.
Here is a link to a recent Washington Examiner article listing 319 of Trump’s post-inauguration accomplishments. I doubt any of these were dictated by the Kremlin.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/exclusive-trump-list-shows-319-results-and-promises-kept-in-three-years
One of Trump’s early accomplishments in particular, which was criticized by many as self-serving and for the benefit of the wealthy, is the 40% business tax reduction. Here is my explanation, written over two years ago, explaining why this is one of Trump’s greatest contributions to our economy and why all those critics were wrong.
Businesses don’t pay business taxes. Consumers do.
When a business is taxed, that tax gets added to the other costs (raw materials, labor, tooling, energy, etc.) to produce a product or provide a service. If the direct costs to produce that product or service are then doubled to arrive at its selling price, the consumer ends up paying double the original amount of the tax hidden within the purchase price as well.
Let’s look at the auto industry to see how that effect snowballs. Automobiles require tens of thousands of parts and hundreds of components. Let’s take tires as one example of how taxes on businesses accumulate. Tires are made up of over 200 separate components (synthetic, raw, and natural rubber, cable, fabric mesh, chemicals, etc.). The tire manufacturing process also involves some very sophisticated custom made equipment and a huge amounts of energy. Each of these is transported and sold to the tire manufacturer by their respective suppliers. Each of those suppliers has paid taxes which are folded into that supplier’s costs and then those costs times some multiplier determines the price each supplier charges the tire manufacturer.
The tire manufacturer buys those components, pays its own taxes, adds both to the costs of all their labor, other materials & supplies, energy, and tooling to determine its costs to make the tires, and applies its own multiplier to determine its selling price for the tires to the auto manufacturer.
The auto manufacturer then adds the cost of those tires to the cost of all the other components, labor, materials & supplies, tooling, etc. plus all of the taxes it pays in determining each vehicle’s total cost, and then applies its own multiplier to determine the selling price of the completed vehicle to its dealers. And then, you guessed it, the same cycle repeats again at the retail dealership. Keep in mind that new taxes on energy, transportation, and fuel are also folded in at every stage or transaction of the process.
The result of the taxes paid by each of the 200 suppliers of the raw rubber, chemicals, cable, fabric mesh, etc. to the tire manufacturer, ends up being folded into costs and multiplied so many times it boggles the mind.
On a new full size SUV between $60 and $80 represents the accumulative taxes, plus the mark up on taxes, on just the tires. And, don’t forget, this same thing is happening with all the other component parts of every new vehicle. These hidden accumulated business taxes and their associated mark-ups account for between $5,100 and $6,300 of the sticker price of a $40,000 SUV. Now you know how & why businesses don’t pay business taxes, consumers do.
Our 2018 40% business tax reduction
Our new federal tax law currently reduces taxes on businesses from 35% to 21%. If 35% equals $100 then 21% equals $60. That’s a 40% business tax dollar reduction. But, instead of re-computing a new lower cost to produce and thereby decreasing their selling price, most businesses are instead talking about treating any tax reduction as windfall profit and; a.) paying stockholders bigger dividends, b.) raising salaries, wages, and benefits, c.) hiring more employees or reducing workforce cutbacks, d.) plant modernizations and/or expansion, e.) repatriating operations onto US soil, or f.) some combination of the those.
Businesses view a tax decrease with mixed thoughts. They are pleased to see their suppliers taxes decrease because it signals a potential for lower raw materials, parts, and tooling costs thereby reducing their cost of goods sold thereby making for a bit of additional profit. They are reluctant to see their own taxes decrease because they make a profit on them. As a cost of doing business their own taxes become the basis for a mark-up the same as any other dollar they have to shell out to produce a product, provide a service, and run the business.
Increasing payouts to stockholders will likely have the least effect on the economy in general as most dividends tend to get reinvested. Keep in mind, however, that when the stock market is strong more people tend to invest more money, old businesses grow, new businesses spring up, and more jobs are created.
Raising salaries and wages will have some positive short term influence on the economy as it will translate to an immediate increase in wage earners’ purchasing power.
New hiring or abandoned workforce reductions will certainly help the economy especially when combined with higher wages as the pool of unemployed worker dries up. Before long, especially among those businesses operating at or near peak efficiency, lower business tax rates will result in lower pricing, fostering price competition, and diminished pressure to export labor. This too should help drive up America’s take home pay and the U.S. dollar’s purchasing power.
Plant modernization and expansions will put more people to work producing new equipment and building new structures. So, let’s not hold that ‘why-them-not-me-envy’ nickel so close in our mind’s eye we can’t see those business tax cut benefit dollars coming our way. We may not all see bigger paychecks or better jobs in our immediate future, but we will all see prices either decrease or stabilize over time thereby making our paychecks go further.
We may not get out of the mess our current federal business tax structure has gotten us into much more quickly than it took us to get into it, but permanently reducing taxes on business is a giant step forward.
Our economy, ever since, has continually proven these observations correct, and its still getting better
Trump May Have Just Started World War III http://stateofthenation.co/?p=3174
A month ago, Congress struck language from a military policy bill that would have explicitly denied authorization for a war with Iran. https://truthout.org/articles/congress-failed-to-act-to-prevent-iran-war-now-trump-has-put-millions-at-risk/
I was afraid no one has seen the news today. Why do they not talk about the bloody murder? It was a murder and you know it. I was a fan of POTUS, but what now? Am I start to support Dems?
One big unkown at the time of your writing was that the Domocrats would spend the entire first 3 years trying to remove Trump from office. Imagine what he may have accomplished if he hadn’t felt the need to be on twitter for the majority of his term lashing out at the Dems.
Well the USA has had a pretty good run, but our future doesn’t look too bright. Good to read your writings tho. Thank you for your effort.
I’m really surprised how so many of the good folks who commented above seem to be unaware of where Trump basically sold his soul to the Rothschilds years ago and is now a puppet to Israel. Wilbur Ross, his secretary of commerce pulled the strings to bail him out of bankruptcy due to his hubris and recklessness in Atlantic City. And just to make sure he’d stay in line enter Sheldon Adelstein in 2016 who put up the big bucks to help him get elected with the assurance that he trash the Iran Nuclear Pact. And today we are seeing the man who promised (lied) that he’d end regime change wars take us one step closer to a war that cannot be anything other than a disaster. And just to add to the hypocrisy 180 Democrats one month ago voted against a proposal that Trump cannot authorize military action there without congressional approval. And these same Dems are criticizing him after they gave him the green light.
Sober poignant analysis, that seems to be missing something of great magnitude. Big Pharma may in fact be behind the whole impeachment debacle. Yes they have the resources and yes they control the medical profession and ultimately everyone. The free healthcare meme is just a big giveaway to Big Pharma.
Biotech is just one of its long tentacles. Trump took down one MD who collected north of 100 million in his oxycodon scripting mafia. This little reported fact is telling. Yes he ought to be pursuing the Clintonistas if any swamp draining is on the horizon.
Lots of great points by Jon a potent free thinker…
Take the leap! None of this will happen, or if something like this still did happen, the blowback will be FAR less bad, as soon as people can rip out their heads the belief that people require government at all.
Stop giving away your power. Stop believing that some people should rule over all others. Stop believing that civilization will collapse if the ruling class is eliminated. Indeed, civilization can ascend to ever greater heights once the main roadblock is removed – government.
If you want to see clearly through the illusion of government authority, start with this easy-to-read book:

On the subject of Trump’s shake up of the journalist world or ‘fake news’ I’ve been saying for quite some time that if nothing else he has proven and shown them to be what they are. Namely bought off tiny cowards, more beholding to shekels than the institution they are supposed to represent.
Meet the Press had an astounding hour of propaganda/mass mind control last Sunday that failed miserably. They are proving themselves to be completely out of touch through their own hubris.
I think here, with the media, Trump has succeeded beyond all else he has done and it will have lasting consequences.
My fear is that the recent Assassination of Gen Qassim Suleimani indicates that POTUS has fallen in bed with the Israeli’s and the Saudi’s in their endless quest to rule the Middle East. I too was hoping that he would seriously reduce our involvement in these foreign wars.
What an amazing read, Jon. And I have been quite encouraged by what he has accomplished in the time that has passed, especially considering the constant attacks from every side. To those who say he hasn’t accomplished enough, I say: “Well? Just imagine a Clinton presidency.” He has actually accomplished far more than I anticipated, and especially weathering the faux “impeachment inquiry.” Who among us could have possibly withstood 3 years of investigation by the unlimited resources of the Federal Government. I’m absolutely flummoxed that they didn’t at least find SOMETHING to hang their hats on!Now the egg that’s dripping for their collective chins is sloppily evident as we wait for their next move. Meanwhile Trump just keeps Trump-ing on. I’m amazed that this article is 3 years old. Well done, Jon.
Well put! My opinion is that no one can become President without the support of some part of the Deep State. If so, what are the particular goals and agenda? In any case he has certainly stirred things up.
Thanks for your prophetic voice, Jon. Donald Trump is God’s card and He is using him for His purpose.
US is the biggest debtor nation in the whole world (and the whole world is up to its neck with national debts that cannot be repaid). The whole world has copied the Marxist Federal Reserve and they now all have their own Central Banks that decide the value of money and the value of interest rates instead of allowing the Free Market to decide the value of money and the value of interest rates. And they are all drowning in debts that cannot be repaid.
The US debt ceiling was raised so Trump could plan his budget and all the current economic and financial triumphs of Trump are based on a debt ceiling having been raised for another brief spell on his behalf.
Trump may appear different but basically things haven’t changed and are not likely to change. You can’t fight City Hall. So they say.
The direction of history is now so far advanced it cannot any more be changed or altered. That is what Hilaire Belloc and G.K. Chesterton observed in the 1930’s and how much more pertinent is it in this day and age.
The other day Artificial Intelligence produced a robot with twice the intelligence of a human being. What Technocracy is really after is an Artificial Intelligence with twice the intelligence of God Himself.
For the arrogance of modern man knows no limits. Man is prepared to challenge God Himself in his very heavens. That is what history is all about. History is all about the deity of man, man in search of his own godhead, man in search of his own divinity.
“Eat of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge” said the Serpent to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, “and ye surely shall not die but become as God.” The inspiration of modern history is to be found in Genesis, the first book of the Bible.
Modern, 21st century man, is still inspired by ancient Biblical myths, and is searching for his own divinity and his own godhead.
Science is the modern Tree of Knowledge. Science will conquer all, so they say.
The meaning of modern history, ever the French Revolution, when Man took centre stage and displaced God, the meaning of modern history is the attempt of Man to see himself as God, as the highest intelligence in the universe, as god-becoming after he has conquered all the mysteries of the universe, conquered time and space, conquered all the diseases, conquered the last enemy death, penetrated the mystery of life, and finally challenged God Himself in his very heavens, such is the arrogance of puny man who would be God.
Once there was talk of Divine Rights. Not any more. Now we talk of Human Rights.
The Implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the Bible of the United Nations, the new religion.
According to another Biblical myth, Lucifer, the Angel of Light, imagined himself as maybe equal to, if not greater than God.
With that thought Lucifer immediately found himself outside the orbit of God (heaven). In a flash Lucifer found himself in a new orbit called Hell (the absence of God).
Lucifer, the Angel of Light, became Satan, the Prince of Darkness.
Satan is said to be the Prince of this World that we inhabit.
And, who knows, maybe Trump is caught between the Devil and the deep blue sea!
Great article. Well worth debating. Lots of great comments. I am in the middle. Hoping that Trump is for the people, cautiously optimistic, but knowing that it is mostly theatre for the dumbed down lazy masses. Watching the continued rise of the police state. Keeping a sober mind.
Ya can take the boy outta New York, but ya can’t take the New York outta the boy…!!!
If Trump is so much for us, why has he flipped on vaccination, reportedly since meeting with Bill Gates (ahem!) and reneged on his promise to have RFK Jr. head a task force to investigate vaccine injury properly?
Just because one opposes corporate Democrats like Hillary Clinton doesn’t make them for us.
The evidence suggests he’s yet another global corporatist of a different stripe. Just more like the 19th century version, rather than the 21st century version. Another corporatist con artist who is no representative of 99+% of the people.
Problem. Trump […]
I think you took the wrong pill Jon and you sit deep in the Matrix. Donald “Israel First” Trump is zionist puppet. All his actions indicate this. So many blind people in America. It’s sad and gives no hope.
finally a a comment I can agree with minus the zionist stuff. […]
It is not enough to understand history and understand the world, one should also seek to change history, to change the world.
But maybe if we understand history and the world we live in then we might realize it is impossible to change the world, because the world is already so far advanced there is no going back.
If history has been directed and controlled for several centuries aready (at least ever since the French Revolution, when man took centre stage and displaced God), then we have to listen to Fredrich Nietzsche’s slogan that God is dead. And if God is dead then Nietzsche was being prophetic because he announced the death of God when the Western world was still regularly church-going. Nietzsche was prophetic and he saw the death and decline of Western religions and Western Civilization and the accompanying decadence and decline of the West.
There has been a war going on against the Ten Commandments ever since the French Revolution (a revolution that penetrated every corner of every town and village throughout France with bloodshed and massacres). Masssive murder of civilians has been going on ever since in modern warfare and the Ten Commandments and the Seven Deadly Sins have just about disappeared and been replaced by the values of Man, values that replace the values of God — the values of the psychopath, or the man who would be god, who is described in some circles as The Grand Architect of the Universe after he has attained his 33 degree of knowledge and understanding.
The meaning of history is a very long-term goal that seeks to bring about a single universal world identity (and that does not mean reviving Buddhism or Hinduism or Christianity or Judaism or whatever, it means establishing one single worldwide identity, one universal truth, one universal justice, one truth north, south, east and west.
Then the dream is of the beginning of super-history when there will be a very small population of elites ruling a very small world population of elites. Or that is how they foresee history moving.
And you may ask “Who are”they”? Just look at the winners and losers of two World Wars and you will see who “they” are.
Our current messiahs are not seeking to fill the empty bellies of the poor. Our current messiahs believe the end justifies the means, that present generations may be sacrificed for the good of future generations as yet unborn.
The world is ruled by false messiahs who dream of establishing the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
The unification of man under one single identity is one of the main goals of history. The unification of mankind proceeds at the pace dictated by the strength, at any given time, of the messianic will.
Out of the First World War came a short-lived League of Nations. Out of the Second World War came a United Nations.
If this trend continues we will all soon arrive at a New World Order of peace and plenty that will emerge out of ever more and more world wars.
For war is a technique for the advancement of history.
The Second World War speeded up history tremendously and Hitler already had his nuclear and rocket scientists who were grabbed by the Soviets and by the US and thus began the Cold War “competition” between the two great powers (the US and the USSR)to see which “lunatics” could get to the lunar surface of the moon first.
Incidentally, Russia, the largest country in the world, has always been poverty-stricken and always on the precipice of collapse from within and the threat from the West is what has kept the Soviets united and kept them from disintegrating and Stalin knew this very well. The current GDP of Russia is about equal to that of Italy or New York State. Russia is no threat to anyone. They have nuclear power but could never follow up with an army occupation. They are no threat and have never been any threat. They survived Hitler because the US supplied the Soviets with arms and equipment via the North Sea and Iran all throughout the Second World War. Russia can only survive under a semi-dictatorship, otherwise it would collapse from within.
Roosevelt and Churchill, whose countries had lost so many young lives in the First World War with a consequent uproar from distressed parents, decided to let the Soviets do all the main fighting in the Second World War while they delayed opening up the Second Front at Normandy, France, until the war was almost over and then claimed victory. Stalin was rewarded at Yalta by getting East Germany and Eastern Europe without even a by your leave.
That Marxist “monster” frightened Western Europe into getting what is now a bankrupt European Union. The fate of Europe and the European Union was all planned long before the Yalta conference.
Russia has served and continues to serve as a useful foil for the West not only in the Cold War but right up to the present day when it is absolutely no threat to anyone anywhere except some problems with border disputes with its neighbours. The history of Russia (which is landlocked) has been a history of a search for a warm water seaport and Catherine the Great managed to persuade the Ottoman Empire to surrender the warm water seaport of Crimea to Russia, not to Ukraine.
Enough for the moment!
Trump is a dedicated servant of history. Otherwise he would not be where he is today. He is more than just another loud Barnum and Bailey Circus showman. “Roll up. Roll up. Roll up. The greatest show on earth. Going to make America great again.”
It will be interesting to see how his Presidency works out and what historical changes are wrought by his Presidency.
