No one knows where it started, but on the evening of August 12, 2075, all over the world, groups began disintegrating.
Not just sewing circles and protest juntas and gamers; not just political activists and victim-support organizations; and not just governments and armies.
Religious and racial groups fell apart, too. By some accounts, they were the last to go.
In Greborg-Lavre-Brooklyn, on the former French and German border, Kayne Larder, a Muslim leader of a motorcycle gang, the V-2, stood on busy streetcorner and said, “I’m not black, I’m not religious, I’m not a V-2. I’m me.”
As gang members and neighbors moved forward to stone him to death, an anonymous person started beating on a drum. He shouted, “I don’t belong to anything or anybody!”
Everyone froze, including Hesh Zion, the king of the Hebrew Tankers, a feared local attack mob.
Zion said, “I’m not a Jew.”
Scenes like this were repeated from Nome to Tierra del Fuego.
In Lower Manhattan, Sal Tosca, a hitman for the Carneri crime family, was eating pizza in a small restaurant on Mulberry Street. He announced to his pals: “Guess what? I’m not Italian. I’m not a gangster. I’m just myself.”
The next day, the NY Times printed notices from the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, and the Bilderberg Group, declaring their dissolution.
A week later, the President of the United States, Abner Ali Chang Grey Feather, went on national television and said:
“I’m not the President, there is no more federal government, I’m going fishing. Bye bye.”
By then, few people seemed surprised. The Event was well underway.
Soldiers were leaving their bases. Medical associations were disbanding. Lobbyists were closing up shop. The ten largest corporations in the world declared a year-long hiatus.
Some called these happenings a miracle. Others said it was the end of the world.
Greta Curt, president of The Most High Octopus, the famous language-filtering and restriction group, responsible for assassinations of people who uttered forbidden words, shot herself in the head in a suite at the Essex House in New York.
Her assistant, Moji Schwartz Limbo Ghandi, told Internet viewers: “Greta just couldn’t handle the new turbulence. She felt herself breaking like a porcelain vase.”
Dick Cheney Bush Perle Cauc, a USAF commander in Afghanistan, told his crew in a briefing room at the Obama Kindness Base outside Kabul, “I’m heading home, wherever that is, guys. I just figured out I’m not white, I’m not a Republican, I’m me.”
At Harvard University, a third-year major in Taliban Studies, Eric Thomas Bin Leary, attempted to organize an “I’m Me” club. A classmate injected him with Haldol2x, drove him to Maine, and deposited him, unconscious, in a muddy bed on the shore of Lake Casco.
Sociologists were apparently the hardest hit, since their enterprise was all about promoting groups. Dr. Elia Fogg Robinson, a Yale professor and the author of We’re All the All, invited colleagues to his lab, where he tried to persuade them to partake in an orgy while immersed in a large vat of melted bubbling cheese, after which, he promised, they would emerge as a single hybridized entity. They put him out in a snowstorm.
It was the beginning of what is now called The Blank Period, approximately a hundred years of unrecorded history.
Yes, we came through, but nothing would ever be the same. The distaste for all groups remained.
As my great-grandfather, Jack Anarch, wrote, in his diary, “Once upon a time, humans needed clans and tribes to survive in the wild, but long after technological civilizations were raised up, the addiction to groups was still overwhelming. It almost destroyed us, but we came to our senses in time. Families yes. Friends yes. Groups no. An old relative of mine told me, ‘There’s nothing like the group habit. Coming off that jones can give a person the shakes for a couple of decades. It can make your eyeballs want to pop out. And you’ve got to do it cold. I went through a six-month stretch where I hallucinated that rain made out of glue was falling from the sky, pasting me to some mythical collective of shoppers in a giant mall in space. It was so heavy I almost flipped. A voice in my head kept saying, Spill on aisle 13, spill on aisle 13…”

Well, its a nice idea, but then there is nature and reality. We are born into, what is in essence, our world, from the womb onward to birth growth, maybe some change, and then death. Out parents, quite naturally, are our world and remain that way, somewhat, in most cases. Its this wrong? Evil? Insane? Well, for better or worse, that is the human experience. our children will carry parts of us along with them. In fact, in most cases, kids will always reflect much of their upbringing. and then peer groups get a shot at us. It is nature and instinct that make want to seek out those of like minds. partly because its impossible to run a family, a community, a city or a nation without a fair amount of agreement and similarity. Is murder OK or not? You can’t have both and get along.
Existing requires that we be able to modify our programming when that modification brings good advantage and hopefully not much in disadvantages. Like it or not, we are familial, tribal and groupish. there is good reason for that. It enables breeding without incest and the obvious harm of that after 2 or 3 generations. I have chosen to be an individual. but most don’t like my choice. Too bad. But in many respects, I am still a lot like the rest, although immigration has brought many changes to that as we have given up all good things we had stood for and embraced keeping other grown adults as our responsibility. My belief is that any adults who does not want to be independant, self-supporting and productive in society and not sucking on welfare and selling drugs in secret so that they have 2 incomes and no taxes.
I am perfectly fine with adults dying if they do not want to expend reasonable labor in their own behalf. I say, given them 1 year and if they are not self supporting, then off to labor camps where labor will be force-ably extracted.
What this is really about is trying to mix useless lazy idiots with formerly responsible working people. Why would I want to be like that?
Just as people deserve the right to preserve themselves and defend themselves, they as part of their collective, their group, should be able to defend and protect that. F the lazy retards and send them to hell. And God damned liberal leftist commies, also known to some as devil worshipers. I got no use for them, now or ever.
Labor camps..
Jesus Christ on a bicycle eating crackers, I think you taking this far too serious.
How about instead of labor camps…we send them on a vacation. Or a cruise. Maybe a hiking vacation through the smokie mountains.
Reblogged this on John Barleycorn and commented:
That would indeed be a glorious day.
The individual is the most important dynamic of a civilized world.
Oh good, I love it when you tell stories dad, I even brought the barbecue into the living room, from the frozen outside — out here in Saskabush, Saskatchewan.
Wanted to have a nice cosy crackling fire while I read your tale. Even got out the marshmallows and rolled up a huge bomber for after…Singed the cat though, when the barbecue starter fluid took hold — ah well I can see a piece of art in that huge black smoke mark on the ceiling. Kinda looks like a big Rorschach. I gotta stop staring at it, I’m getting strange thoughts.
The dogs looking at me like I’m playing a harmonica.
Anyway, I have a friend named Moji Schwartz Limbo Ghandi — well actually she is the sister of my old girlfriend Voodoo Schwartz Limbo Ghandi. Can you believe there were sixteen kids in that family — it would take to long to tell you all their names –actually I have trouble remembering them.
To cut a long story short *sigh*, Voodoo was a non binary trans cishet (pronounced SIS-het) scritcher who had this cute fuzzy pink little raccoon suit, with the holes all in the right places — know what I mean wink, wink. She was a bigger girl…Anyway, Voodoo believed that my paintings were conjuring up gender confused polysexual demons Zeta Reticula. So we split, I needed a prozac the size of hockey puck after that, ah well, all for the best. I gotta get back to this smoke thing on the ceiling before the wife gets home. Dunno what I’m gonna do about the singe smell coming from mommy’s little precious: the cat.
Ah well, thanks for the good story Champ ;)) love it when you let go…
You are hilarious.
Wow! Jon has now became a Globalist. Everyone is equal
.
.No borders or countries. No unique culture or languages. No religions, we were created out of nothing.
We can do anything we want. Kill whoever you hate, get in your car drunk and kill a few people on the way for an extra good feeling of being a free individual. Who cares? there is no law. Do whatever you feel like
.
You like your neighbor’s house, take it for yourself. Why not? You are free.
If your house is burning, do not call the firefighters, there is no such organisation anymore, just let it burn to the floor.
If You were born a girl, but you want to be a man, no problem, become a transgender, who cares, you are totally free.
Infowars or other similar sites are ran by lunatics who wants to brainwash you by informing you about what is really going on in this world, Do not believe them.
Only believe that you as an individual have all the solution and the wisdom for a better world, a globalist world where everyone can do whatever they want even if it hurts people.
Do not, t give a dam, you are a free individual. Whether you are a genius or a pure idiot, it does not
matter. All is well.
Welcome to the assilum!
I would title Jon article as: The Night The World Lost His Sanity.
“Kill whoever you hate, get in your car drunk and kill a few people on the way […]”
Only for the first few weeks, then everybody would settle down and bake bread, and make daisy chains, maybe do some macrame, watercolors..
Maybe we’re hybrid Bononbos, and we would start solving our problems with sex.
How come you always ruin Jon’s stories…I think secretly you want to rule the world.
Tell ya what, in Jon’s world, we’ll let you be the boss. How’s that…
After I think about that, w’ll only let you be the boss of everybody for a day.
Quebecois, I completely agree with your assessment. Freedom is all fine and dandy up to some point, but it also had limits and boundaries. Though thinking for ones self is important and somewhat liberating, It also comes with a dear price. Anyone who is truly free in thought and speech will soon be bound and gagged. A free mind is never free for very long. any group needs to have basics they can agree upon.
Call me paranoid, but I’ll betcha anything, The Russians were behind this disastrous state of affairs …
What we really need is limited governments who are not corrupted, and we also need politicien term limits
This is the power of the individual citizen voting to make that change.
Do you really believe that strongly that voting changes anything?!?
Sure I do. Look at what Trump accomplished in your country since he is President.
And, all this in less than 20 months
Wait, when he will starts draining the Swamp. .It will be Christmas everyday.
—“When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.”
Jiddu Krishnamurti
No, it is not violent, Tony. when someone or a groups someones, wants to live together in an agreed upon fashion, then they should be able to. But those that rule the world want to eliminate uniqueness and variety in favor of forced cookie cutter slavery. You’re a mad man walking blind and supporting the evil agenda.
True enough… but Krishnamurti wasn’t talking about forced cookie cutter slavery. He spoke of the dissolution of all identities in the mind. It is quite different to enforced ideas of togetherness and the authoritarian control that our political and ideological powers would constrain us with.
This turns out in actuality to be an intensely individual realisation, and not equivalent with false ideas of ‘one-world’ thinking… but I do see how it sounds paradoxical.
I think it has some similarities with the approach Jon ultimately espouses, since it is the cessation of ANY internal boundaries or constraints. (Krishnamurti referred to it many times as “freedom from the known”).
Tony, as I would see it, We are neither fully an individual or fully part of the crowd. we can not avoid people. its not possible. Smart individuals know full well that tho they reject much of society and its beliefs, that they can not fully avoid that society. Society will not let them avoid Society. its a matter of balance. Sometimes, a philosopher or prophet will be come a victim and some will just have close calls. Life doe not guarantee anything. Socrates love and preferred Athens but he was too outspoken about the rulers and was executed. Its something any individual has to live with and sometimes die by.
Hey, how about this:
You are an individual and you like animals, so you have in your house a cat, a dog, a Black-headed Python, a scorpion,a wolf and a Trogloraptor Spider.. That is your choice since you are a free individual and that there is no laws,
So, one afternoon, you decided to let them out in your backyard for a few hours. Off course your backyards has no fences since there is no laws.
They end up in your neighbors’ back yards and they kill all their5 kids. Who cares?
You are an individual, so you can do whatever you want to do and you will never be held responsible for your action.
For sure, your neighbors might come and try to kill you, but who cares? , You are now living in an asylum earth. where anybody can do whatever they want with no consequences. what so ever.
Hip Hip Hip Houra!
Now, you have lost your animals, you do not know where they went. Your neighbor informs all the peoples who live near you and suddenly the kids living by are nowhere to be found and everybody leaves their houses and the whole village disappears.
WoW ! This free individual really had great power!
Isn’t it crazy in my house already with all those animals trying to eat, sting, hump and scratch each other?
I have no fences right now, in my backyard?
Were the neighbors kids teasing my little zoo? Were they drug dealers, were the kids ugly, animal haters? Why would I be so irresponsible with my little zoo, knowing they are dangerous if not watched or penned in?
Your scenario is not logical — instead of creating all these scenarios of fear, why don’t you face your real fear. Absolute freedom.
Why are you afraid to be an individual, dependent on yourself, living here on earth without any government, without any interference in your life. To freely connect with what you desire. To allow all others to live that way and trust that the majority who are the same don’t want chaos, or war, or interference in their life. and that they wish to live like you.
If someone trys to kill you, defend yourself, if some interfers, or trys to steal what you have deal with that in a sound and honest way. Improve the world through your example of how life should be lived.
‘Asylum earth’..what do you call this one we are living in right now, with governments and rules and licenses and policies? Taxes, criminals and mass killings everyday. All these rules and surveillance and security systems an d deterrents and still people are anillating each other…maybe that’s the reason why.
It is no measure of sanity or freedom to be well-adjust to this sick world.
Why is personal power to be used for the betterment of the rest of the world, or the society that you are living in. Or for anothers benifit?
I gotta get back to t(his smoke thing on the ceiling before the wife gets home. Dunno what I’m gonna do about the…: (Michael.Burns)
…………………………………………………….
And you think you are free? You cannot make it without your wife.and your family.
I have being living alone since 1969 and I just turn 74 years old this year..
I choose to live alone. with no husband an no kids, because I do not want. anybody to tell me what to do, what to think or to control me. I enjoy living alone and I am never bored.
But when I take my car, I respect street lights, stop signs and speed limits, because I think this is a smart. thing to do. Whatever makes sense, I agree with. Whatever does not make sense to me I ignore it.
Believe it or not, I am for taxes as long as they are not too high, because who else would build roads and bridges and water supply and sowers and hospitals and so on. We all need those things It takes a lot of money to build these things.
I do not live in the woods like you do, because as a woman I would not appreciate it at all.
I am not either a misanthrope. I Like people, I have many friends, mostly men friends, I seem to get along better with men than women. Why? I don’t know. I have no clue.
But friends cannot come to my house unexpectedly They have to call me before otherwise, I do not open the door.I make my own laws,
But, I think there should be laws because there are so many stupid and evil people in this world. Have you not figured this out, Michael?
You have a terrible sense of humor — that statement was in jest, it was not a fact. I can, make it with or without my wife and family. I rarely see my children and that’s not a bad thing.
When I drive I use my common sense, if I come to a big stop sign out in a country road, I rarely stop unless, I see an appraoaching vehicle. I never obey speed limits.
If I didn’t have to pay a single dollar of tax, without getting the reprecussions from the tax department, I would never ever pay tax, or license fees, registration fees, or all those other fees.
Laws create stupidity, that is the purpose. Or the other main purpose for laws is to gain refenue.
You have a terrible sense of humor — that statement was in jest, it was not a fact. I can, make it with or without my wife and family. (Michael Burns.)
I did not think it was humor and I will tell you why: I have a great memory, so I remembered in one of your posts a few years ago, that you have sacrificed a great career to become a famous painter in New York, because your wife did not want to move to New York. and you sort of felt regretful about your decision. This is why I said that you cannot live without your wife.
Q:
You are wrong.
Your mind is not that souund, and you have lost track of some the details — or?
You’ve added something to it to suit your bias — whatever that may be, its irrelevent more it is inapplicable.
My wife never knew about that conversation that I had with my dealer in 1990…
She only learned about it, a few years ago.
I made that choice freely — I love them and didn’t go because I didn’t want to be that prick.
I would have had to be really cold to make that free choice and leave them. In the end I choice not to damage myself.
Among you best comments, Que! There real realities in being human. Opposites do not attract, nor do they even remain passively neutral. There will be trouble when society tried to go 3 different ways or even more. We have hundreds now. Buy some insurance, and and dig a burial plot, as we will all soon need one.
My question is, why do we need other human beings to make laws for us, to make us decent human beings?…
With individual freedom comes individual responsibility..
Notice the ‘state’ with all it’s laws, has reduced the need for personal responsibility…’the state will take care if us, and tell us how to live’..
I am a decent human being or not with or without the state enforcing it’s laws, and may I point out, those who are not decent human beings tend not to follow the laws anyway.
What laws do is restrict the freedom of decent human beings, they do not in effect reduce harm caused by those that intend it
I really liked this one, Jon.
Short stories with snap, crackle and pop are very hard to create innovatively.
Wow, this one brought out the rancid nuts in the peanut gallery.
