There are four major symbols I want to take up here.
The important thing to remember is: these symbols conspire to produce a “view of self” in the patient.
The patient comes to see himself in a certain way, and this way implies a reduction of his own power.
Reducing his own power, he literally sees himself as smaller.
The cascade of effects continues. Seeing himself as smaller, he comes to believe he has no significant role in his own health and well-being.
And armed with that conviction, he comes to believe he is gradually deteriorating.
This belief is a perception, a view of self. This view, like a magnet, attracts and interprets events as further evidence of weakening and deterioration…
This reality is far from the only possible one, but it is the one the patient chooses.
The first symbol is SYMPTOM. The person sees and experiences feelings and physical manifestations, and in the doctor’s office, he learns these are symptoms that collectively MEAN SOMETHING. He has symptoms. These are not random, he is told. They are not transient. They cannot be ignored. They will not go away on their own. They are serious.
The second symbol is CONDITION. The doctor’s diagnosis of the symptoms makes it clear that the patient has a disease, an illness, a disorder. A label is applied. A name. There is no doubt that the patient has this named disease. This is a THING. An entity. It is not a passing phenomenon. It is solid and stable. It is singular.
The third symbol is TREATMENT. This is what the doctor tells the patient he must do. Take a medicine. Have surgery. The treatment will get rid of the condition. The treatment is specific. It is geared to address the condition. It is the solution to the problem.
The fourth symbol is the DOCTOR. He knows. Nobody else knows. He is the authority. He is in charge of recognizing the symptoms, which lead him to make the diagnosis of the condition, which is turn leads him to prescribe the treatment. This progression is lock-step. There no other factors to consider. The doctor has effectively ruled out all other possibilities.
These four symbols lead the patient into a state of obedience. And in that state, he realizes his own power is beside the point and is irrelevant.
Of course, this is not the first time he has been to the doctor’s office. This is not the first time he has been put through this progression of the four symbols. Therefore, the effect on him, over time, is magnified.
Each successive visit to the doctor confirms he can and does develop new sets of symptoms—and each set implies a new condition.
As the conditions pile up, the patient is more convinced than ever that he is composed of diseases that appear “out of nowhere.”
He views himself as a set of symptoms which indicate a condition and imply a treatment. This is, in a sense, who and what he is.
Over time, his conditions tend to be more serious.
He never imagines that the toxic treatments he is taking are contributing to, or causing these more serous conditions—because each disease has a separate name, as if it exists in a vacuum. The doctor handles each diagnosis in that fashion. “Now you have this…and now you have that.”
When the patient reaches a point where he views himself as BEING these symptoms and conditions and very little else, he simply waits for the next arrival of the next set of symptoms and the next condition.
This is how powerful symbols can be.
In a better world, people would be educated in the use and effects of symbols, before succumbing to them.
Some would say, “What do you mean, symbols? The doctor is real, I do have physical problems, the doctor really does make a diagnosis, and I do take real medicines. Why are you talking about symbols?”
Because what locks a person in is what happens in his mind. And what happens in his mind is this parade of symbols. That’s what forms the basis of HIS VIEW OF HIMSELF. He rolls these symbols around in his mind and accepts them and locks himself in, and he sees himself as deteriorating.
“I am a deteriorating person. That’s who I am. That’s what I am. I’m waiting for the next round of symptoms and the diagnosis and treatment from the doctor. Any other ideas about what I am and what I can do are beside the point. No reason to entertain them. I have the potential to be more than a deteriorating person? What does that even mean? It makes no sense.”
The person doesn’t understand symbols, doesn’t understand how he is dealing with them, and so he closes the book on his life and future.
This process is not necessary, but he doesn’t grasp that.
Am I claiming that everything is in the mind? Nothing else possibly matters? No one ever really gets sick? No. But I am saying a shocking amount of what turns out to be a person’s future or non-future flows from how he recognizes, or doesn’t recognize, symbols and how he reads them and interprets them, how he accepts or rejects them, how he choose to surpass them or succumb to them.
Yes, there is a doctor. Yes, there is such a thing as physical illness. Yes, the doctor is delivering a diagnosis and calling it a condition. But these factors are not in the mind, unless the physical doctor can squeeze himself into the patient’s head. In the mind, there are symbols of these elements—and that is what the patient is dealing with, for better or for worse.
And over the long-term, for most patients, it’s worse.

Walking through the corridors to my wife’s hospital room, I noticed the religious iconography on the walls – it was a Catholic hospital. Somehow, equating sainthood and holiness with medicine is just accepted. I think of all the hospitals using the name “Mercy” and I think “That’s right, they have you at their mercy.” She died, I believe, not from her cancer, but because of the antibiotics they pumped into her that wiped out her immune system. The doctor had the final say on the cause of death, though.
There is a recent health care modality called BodyTalk, in which there is no diagnosis or treatment. It merely seeks to restore the body’s natural balance, using the innate wisdom of the client’s body and mind. A major part of this protocol is to dispel belief systems that interfere with the flow of energy and communication within the body. The assumption is that almost all disease is the result of belief systems imposed on us or that we impose on ourselves. Wilhelm Reich, whose books the FDA burned in the 1950’s, realized that cancer is the body’s reaction to the patient’s resignation to some kind of life-restricting belief system.
i am unutterably sorry, greg.
For many if my own posts Greg, you see fit to comment on them to suit your own ideas – in a a more negative fashion toward my comment/s – rather than read what I’ve put down – & leave it.
So – I reply to you with the following: you are right as rain in your assessments. They are older than the hills but refreshing & uplifting to read others with inputs as this.
My husband suffered similar poisoning & it also ended as even he knew it would.
Thank you for sharing those thought & observations.

Of not if
I never go to a doctor unless I already know what I have. Most things, if they are not, say, virulent or malignant, will resolve themselves in time. This means arthitic pain, torn tendons, etc. Almost everything.
Most are completely unaware of the power of “symbols”, as in the “Symbol” of humanity as laid out by the Judas Class in D.C.

As in; “You threaten our Central Bank fiat currency and we’ll FREEDOM the f**k right out of your ass!
But the whitecoat camped out at Marxist U. for years and has esoteric knowledge.
What do you mean they are just a sales representative for big pharma.
The doctor loves me and went to school just so they could make me better.
The doctor knows how to work equipment and technology and is so much better than me.
If the doctor tells me to stand in the middle of the interstate then it must be good for me.
Richard Shaver was an empath living in Arkansas and he dealt with what he called Deros, or Degenerated Robots who are strong mentally but lack human compassion and love. The religious community might call them demons, the UFO community, aliens, H.G. Wells called them Morlachs, and the Bible in the Book of Revelations calls them magicians and sorcerers. Shaver said these Deros were responsible for almost all the problem on the Earth, even toe stubbings, and they work by mind to cause us physical, emotional, and mental problems, as they did for him and which led to his death. Our mentor, also an empath, was also under attack by these of the Alien Mind because of the truths he shared, and as we have shared his truths since his death, we have also been attacked through the mind to cause physical illness. They will run us into the ground mentally and emotionally to the point where we feel so wretched we might want to commit suicide just to get us away from the pain they can project. It is torture even though they accomplish it through the mind.
What we have realized is that they hope to give us a reason to go to the doctor, because the Alien Mind knows if we go we are subject to that Medical Model with all of its Symbols, and unless we have sought understanding and stand our ground really firmly we might be dragged into all of it.
We are almost sure the Deros lead our scientists this way and that way to create the poisons which are now killing us, like glyphosate, and they control what our agencies are not doing to protect us, and they probably also control our Congressmen and women, so that unless humanity learns to separate itself from this mind, we will never have peace or health or the harmony which God designed for us.
God gave us laws to live by to keep us in Harmony, but even they have been perverted and/or deleted or just not understood in their entirety. This is especially true of the commandment, “Thou shall not commit adultery.” Anything which perverts or weakens the whole is adulterous and is a crime. This was DDT, glyphosate, dicambra, and all the hundreds of other chemicals which are destroying our natural world. This is also the pharmaceuticals that make illness worse, usually. The American Indians had an understanding of this, because they would project ahead for seven years or generations to see what effect any action they were thinking of taking would have upon the natural world. “Keep and Dress the Earth.” Genesis
It’s not difficult to sit and contemplate the widespread change it would make in our world if we all understood what was meant by committing adultery.
Thoughts not thought – sorry about any other errors… Tiny keyboard – fingers oversized…
When I first read Confessions Of A Medical Heretic, by Dr Robert Mendelsohn, I thought he was exaggerating to make a point when he compared modern medicine to religion. Since then I’ve realized that religion, or a religious way of thinking, is part of medical as well as the other sciences.
The problem is, religion isn’t thinking at all. It’s believing. Believing is the opposite of thinking. Thinking involves questioning, examining, investigating, dissecting, analyzing, and always being aware of the possibility you’ve been misinformed. Believing is when you stop doing all of those things.
I go to doctors as little as possible. Mainly because I’ve been self-employed most of my adult life and haven’t had insurance. But that’s served me well until now. As I get older, I need to seek medical treatment a little more often for things like arthritis and such. However, I do take natural remedies first before trying pharmaceuticals. Having said that, I think I’m much healthier than my peers because I haven’t been on all the drugs they have. I haven’t had all the surgeries, etc.
Right now I’m a bit upset because a friend of mine is dying of pancreatic cancer and his family is denying him food and water. He is drugged up out of his mind, and can’t communicate, but he’s been without food and water for over a week now, and it kills me to watch this. This is okay? It’s a very painful way to die.
I can’t bring myself to visit him anymore. I want to remember him as the strong man he was. He was amazingly healthy. And now to watch the medical community do this to him is more than I can stand.
“denying him food and water”
that is a thing when being treated for cancer with poison (drugs)? to deny food and water? even GMO food and toxic tap water?
“Denying food and water” is a standard option, when the patient can’t swallow or eat normally. Then they can give the patient morphine to make them comfortable as possible. It’s not an easy thing to decide, but the idea is to not prolong suffering and run up huge medical bills when there really is no chance of recovery.
Don’t feel bad about not going to see your friend. My best friend, my husband, also had cancer and I wish I had never gone to see him the last night of his life. I try to erase the image.
We tried many natural therapies to no avail. He had an acute childhood emotional event he could never clear. We were so glad for the pain killers and in the end he didn’t want to eat. I think they call it cachexia.
I am sorry.
My mother died from Pancreatic Cancer. They put her thru Chemo (What a waste ), but they never denied her food or water. Who in their right mind would do such a thing, especially since PC is a relatively quick way to go as it is. There ought to be a law against such a thing, even if the patient put that in their living will. Before the fact, there is no way a person could make an informed decision as to what it is like to have food & water withheld. How utterly barbaric and cruel that is.
See, I feel the same way, but the medical community views it differently. Like someone said in the comments, they can’t swallow anymore so they don’t do an IV for fluids so that it doesn’t rack up medical bills. But he was a veteran, so I don’t really understand that, either. And like you said, this cancer is a fast killer, so I don’t understand the added suffering of no fluids. From what I understand it’s a painful way to suffer and die.
Your timing (for me) is perfect with this one, Jon.
Convalescing on my first unpaid “sick day” in years, I have been thinking about this subject and draw the conclusion that all modern mainstream medicine is variation of “problem, reaction, solution”. Because causes are superfluous, symptoms are exaggerated to cast the character of “conditions” (whether they be viral or bacterial). Troops (doctors) are sent in to attack the body “for its own good” (or, if not, for the “good of wider society” – isn’t that the “logic” behind vaccines?).
Yet, we both know, if you removed all atmospheric pollutants, the larger percentage of medical complaints will disappear with it.
Now we come full circle, because if there was a focus on causes and not symptoms, then an angry finger would ultimately be aimed at a very small percentage of the global population (albeit aided by the majority). These people that would face the finger are generally known as “industrialists”. I think you occasionally mention them, Jon.
Best
OT
Sharing your pain, Jennifer, comforted me, thank you for being vulnerable. I have decided not to go back to see him. I want to remember him differently. Thank you, again.
Thank you again Jon for telling it like it is.
Here, I’d like to share some of my favorite doctors comments on a mechanical , lower ack condition called,” Lum-ar facial fat herniation”.
There are many other fancy names as well.
Not one of 8 doctors I’ve seen so far would look up the condition and its treatment.
It is common and causes great pain in around 30% of folks who have them.
Fatty tissue lumps on the lower -ack often caused -y lifting heavy things.
Simply, exploded fatty tissue through the ack muscle resulting in often painful lumps.
I’ve gone to the referred docs like the Thoracic surgeon, Orthopedic surgeon, a dermatologist, a pain specialist and the standard family physician who refer me to folks like these who just don’t want to know.
Here are their findings.
“They aren’t the cause of your pain”. Pain specialist
“We , (the Royal “We”?,don’t take them out…. unless you pay me”. Thoracic surgeon
“Here’s a script for core strengthening”. (Orthopedic surgeon, after saying, “Were you hoping for something weird and wonderful)”?
“They don’t cause your pain.”, (Dermatologist… said 7 times in 10 minutes).
And the classic from yet another pain specialist,
“YOU aren’t a doctor”.
The last one told me “I know more than he does” when asked to look at the M.D’s pulished findings on the internet with case studies and positive treatment results.
He did not read or look it up. None would.
The condition has een know to surgeons since 1939.
Even when holding a copy of the treatment , not one doc would take the one minute to read it.
At least they’re all admitting to ignorance yet decide to remain so.
Ego and willful ignorance.
I’m wondering whether I should resort to plain ol’ whining on the next attempt for help.
Serves me right though, coming in all cocky like, knowing how to help myself and doing the research for them.
Sigh.
Thank you Jon Rappoport for all your great writing and for allowing me to complain.
Dear Jon:
[…]
Anyway, I wanted to let you know about some of the health philosophies I’ve been researching lately. Mainly, they are the Natural Hygiene and Nature Cure treatments. They are very similar. Natural Hygiene does not use any drugs to treat disease. The core of the “system” is the idea that there is only one disease, toxemia.
Toxemia is basically the overburdening of the body with waste that it cannot use to repair tissue or put to any good use. When we get sick, it’s really just the body’s response to throw off a good amount of waste or morbid material. Examples would be catarrhs (mucous production), any of the “itis’s” (inflammation), and skin eruptions like eczema. So all of the named “diseases” stem from the same basic issue.
Herbert Shelton fasted thousands of people at his clinic in Texas throughout this last century. By fasting on water only he healed many many conditions. I haven’t finished his book, “The Science and Fine Art of Fasting” yet, but it’s amazing for him to talk about the different ailments he treated with fasting on pure water only.
With fasting, he talks about how the body has reserves it will tap into before actual starvation sets in. The body will break down all that toxic matter and convert what it can to energy and excrete the wastes through the various channels. I think the book is a great wealth of information.
You can find some of his books at http://archive.org and also http://soilandhealth.org/ under the health library, that’s for the latter link.
The other guy I came across is Louis Kuhne from Germany. His book, “The New Science of Healing or the doctrine of the Oneness of all Diseases, forming the basis of a Uniform Method of Cure, without Medicines and without Operations” spells out the one disease theory and he tells about many case histories as well. I don’t even think he was a doctor, but he employed sitz baths and friction baths to get the lymph moving to get rid of the cellular wastes with great results.
I wrote because I know you have the ability to reach many people that might benefit from these ideas of they choose to. I wrote up an article for Ken Adachi, whom I try and keep in touch about these same ideas, but I haven’t seen it posted yet.
Thanks for all your writings, especially on vaccination! I think the one disease theory makes sense. How could all the crap in a vaccine possibly help anyone?
Take care, and thanks for listening.
P.S. I was having skin issues, various excema outbreaks, nothing crazy – I fasted for 4 days on distilled water and my hands cleared up. They hadn’t been fully healed in about 2 whole years! I was happy, to say the least.
I haven’t tried the sitz or friction baths yet because we are building a new house and are living with my in-laws. Oh, the other big thing for health is food combining. Shelton wrote a book on that also. The stomach can’t digest carbs & proteins at the same time so digestion is impaired and poison is leftover that can’t be utilized as nutrition.
Sincerely,
Kenny […]
Some of the other “symbols” I have observed in the pharmaceutical television commercials flooding the airwaves…
-smiling, happy patients playing with grandchildren
-smiling, happy patients at the beach, on the lake, etc.
-smiling, happy patients walking, laughing, talking wtih their ‘besties’
I think the power of media images may ENCOURAGE people to be sick/visit their doctor/take these drugs…just because they may be loneley or unhappy.
good point, jv.
Very interesting. These symbols you mention are certainly conditioned in us, paired with positive images and a sense of security and well-being. May be extreme for others, but the majority of existing ailments are certainly psychosomatic, stemming from life-negative beliefs and thoughts. When immersed in this kind of an environment, the symbols you mentioned only make the low life image stronger. The first step to health is breaking bad beliefs and cognitions.
