US Empire: when will they stop saying ‘unintended consequences’?

It might have been true in Afghanistan. Maybe. You remember. Bin Laden. The whole outside crew that came in during the Soviet-Afghan War and, trained and armed by the US, helped turn the tide against the Russians. And then that crew went rogue.
They built a network to fight America.
An unintended consequence. Let’s call it that.
But Libya, Iraq, Syria? Again? Over and over? Doesn’t work. Doesn’t compute. The rebels “we’re helping,” who somehow turn out to be terrorists?
The line has been crossed from “we didn’t know” to “we’re doing it on purpose, we’re creating terrorism.”
Several years after the US invasion of Libya, when the country had turned into a hell hole, a sewer of chaos, a non-nation, with murdering factions assaulting each other, President Obama replied to a reporter’s question about the worst mistake of his presidency. He rang the bell on Libya with this pithy assessment:
“Probably failing to plan for the day after.”
The day after the US left Libya in chaos, in the rear-view mirror.
Obama’s statement is on the level of, “I left my car keys in the 7-Eleven.”
The Pentagon and the CIA, which spend untold $$ planning war scenarios and estimating consequences, never told Obama what would happen after the Libya attack? If you buy that, I have condos for sale on Saturn.
“Oops. We didn’t think about post-attack Libya. The horror. The chaos. It never came up. My girls had a play date and Michelle wanted help in the garden and, let’s see, wasn’t I filling out my brackets for March Madness and doing an ESPN segment in the Oval Office?”
Creating, backing, funding, supplying, advising, and lying about terrorists (ISIS, al Qaeda, etc.) is business as usual. Ever since the covert wars in El Salvador and Nicaragua in the early 1980s (and you can go back farther if you want to), the Pentagon has been game-planning and urging what they call “low-intensity conflicts” and “proxy wars,” in addition to the really big operations like Iraq.
The proxy idea is simple. Get other people to fight for us. Pretend we have nothing to do with it.
Waking up one day and saying, “Wow, look at Syria and Libya and Iraq, we didn’t realize these rebels would wander off the reservation and become ISIS,” doesn’t cut it. Yes, politicians and military bureaucrats can be stupid, but not that stupid.
“I was just trying to do the right thing” doesn’t cut it.
“We didn’t realize ISIS would move in and take over our good rebels” doesn’t cut it.
In the same way, the Obama administration’s explanation for the gun-walking operation called Fast and Furious didn’t cut it. “You see, we were allowing very bad cartel people to buy guns in the US so they would take them down to Mexico and we could track these weapons SOMEHOW and then we could learn more about how the cartels operate.” What? Go over that again? You mean later, when the cartel men actually killed people and the guns were left at the scene, the US government knew something it didn’t already know? Really? That’s your story?
The “unintended consequences” tale has gone very stale.
In the same way, the fake-evidence story, with its “unintended consequences,” has gone stale. There was the claim about Saddam developing WMDs, which was used as the pretext for invading Iraq. There was the claim about Assad using chemical weapons on his own people, in 2013, which was debunked. And now we have the claim of another Assad-launched chemical attack on his own people, which justified the Trump-ordered missile strike—and this chemical-weapon “evidence” has several gaping holes in it (as I detailed in a recent article).
When the evidence is patently fake, or in grave doubt, it can’t be called a mistake. It can be called what it is: an invented pretext for military action.
Consider 9/11. No matter how you assign blame for that catastrophe, in what universe does it justify waging war, for 16 years, against the whole country of Afghanistan? And how does it justify drawing up rules of engagement that facilitate the deaths of American soldiers sent there to “defeat the perpetrators of 9/11?” Which perpetrators? The Taliban? They hit the Towers in Manhattan in 2001?
There are indications the Taliban are now stronger than they were before the US invasion of Afghanistan. The giant MOAB bomb Trump’s Pentagon just dropped is a step forward in the war? How so? The Taliban strategy is simple. When things get too hot, they disappear. When things cool down, they come out. It works. This is exactly what the mujahedeen did during the Soviet-Afghan war of the 1980s. It’s no secret.
Those who push for American empire push for war and destruction and conquest. They may talk about unintended consequences and mistakes, but none of that matters to them. None of that is relevant.
They demand war and more war.

Point 6: Gravity is such a weak force across interstellar distances, there is no way it would ever “collapse the universe”. And comparing such a collapse to breathing is ludicrous, and contradicts “the universe is in good hands” dogma, ’cause no on will be breathing in that event. Screw the universe and it’s inanimate forces – life is the main event. The universe is just a prop.
You may be right, Greg. If the expansion is not reversed by the weak gravitational force of attraction, the universe would be finite and continue evolving in only one direction. I personally doubt that, but I would be happy to read your reason for believing the universe will continue to expand after the compacted cores of stars and galaxies have all “evaporated away.”
The whole universe may be alive (rather than just a prop for my life or yours) and many parts of it exhibit finite lives, just like you and me and birds and bees and trees, and even galaxies and stars and C-14, H-3 & U-238!
Pure sophistry. You say that inanimate objects are alive merely because they have “finite lives.” You are confusing two separate definitions of the word! One is literal, and another is metaphorical. By your reasoning, anything that can be destroyed has a finite life, and therefore is alive. You completely ignore that life exists as an animating force. Go to a funeral home and look at a dead body for a few minutes, and you might learn something. The body still exists, but there is no life in it. Entirely different meaning.
Gravity is so strong that it holds the oceans to a spinning ball, but weak enough to allow butterflies and birds to flit about, and clouds to float above. Hard to believe that Jon can report on the hoaxes of vaccines and HIV, but still believes in the spinning globe/NASA/space hoax.

Yep, and he believes in time zones, celestial navigation, Foucault’s pendulum, perfect eclipse forecasts – those are all hoaxes too? I could list 10 more simple proofs, but I’m convinced that the flat-earth people are total hoaxes, plants who want to pollute intelligent discussions and blogs with such idiocy.

Thank you for posting the above video as another reminder of the absolutely blinding arrogance of power.
That really is a powerful video.
It is an extraordinarily childish narrative that we are being fed. Luckily Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley is on hand to sum up the hugely complex situation for us in an easily digestible soundbite — calling Assad, Russia and Iran out for having “no interest in peace”.

The issue is clouded by the real reasons for war. All war is about money, the common folk are tricked into it by manufactured reasons: Democracy, Human Rights, Strong Man, Regime Change etc. All are buzzwords used to generate feelings that each act of killing is done with sound reason.
The real reason for all wars in the modern era is the IMF and the need for each and every country to pledge their assets, humans, to the IMF in exchange for Fiat Currency Debt notes. The IMF needs ALL COUNTRIES to pledge their assets. Iraq refused, Libya refused, Afghanistan refused, Cuba is thinking about it, Iran refuses and NK refuses.
Whatever happens to the people, the assets, is largely besides the point to the IMF. The problem we all have, and why nothing can change, is we are crying about the wrong points. The best misdirection is the type that has people arguing over the color of the toxic waste in the backyard and not the real issues. The issue is, do you need the IMF to own you, if so, then YES NK must be nuked to death because their ENTIRE crime is refusing to join the union of debtor nations.
I do not understand economics, but I certainly suspect it is all about control of humanity.
Wars are not about money. Money are printed at will today. Wars destroy value and assets. Wars are about genociding the stupid populace and nothing else. It is a ritual. A punishment. A game. A fetish.
The “Taliban” was commissioned by Israel, run by the US and others as a “joint op”. Buffoons, such as Trump, act as enablers.

I need to correct Jon Rappoport. “Taliban” is a case of a hybrid army, composed of locally recruited canon meat. The supply of the canon meat, of the idiots, is limitless. Therefore, the canon meat hybrid soldier can be mercilessly spent. The supply is unlimited. And the war can also, therefore, be unlimited.
The same hybrid canon meat armies operate in Eastern Ukraine, in Syria, in Lybia, in Yemen, and in many other places.
Survival Rule: Afganistan is a model state. An endless war, a cultivation of opium, a degrading pseudo-religious cult as a way to enslave the population, an omnipresent corruption. All the other countries are to become like Afganistan. All the others. The US, Ukraine, Russia, the entire Europe.
Lybia is already in the “perfect”, ideal state. Lybia corresponds to the “model state”. And this was exactly what was planned.
