GMOs: the “natural foods” industry is not your friend
by Jon Rappoport

If Monsanto, its allies, and dupes have their way, this is what is going to happen:
A federal law will be passed, canceling the right of individual states and counties to ban or label GMOs. Companies and retailers will be permitted to voluntarily label their food products “non-GMO,” if they use approved labs for testing.
The obvious consequence? We will eternally co-exist with Monsanto and the other biotech giants. More GMO foods, more toxic pesticides.
The not-so obvious consequence? Paying several thousand dollars per product for testing and certification, some large companies in the natural-food industry will label their products “non-GMO,” thus creating an elite sanctuary for those consumers who can afford to shop at high prices.
And by the way, many of those non-GMO products won’t be organic.
For centuries, the poorest peasants ate non-GMO non-pesticide food. Now that will become a privilege for the relatively few.
Are there certain players in the natural-food industry who look forward to such an arrangement?
See The Food Navigator, 19 December, 2014, “5 GMO myths dispelled.” This magazine is the number-one staple for people in the natural-foods biz.
The article reports on a Natural Products Association webinar. The NPA is a huge trade group for the natural products industry.
The article states that, during the webinar, the NPA made room for a speaker, Greg Jaffe, from the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI).
A lawyer, Jaffe (bio here) has logged stints with the EPA, FDA, DOJ, and World Bank—all groups that, in one way or another, have vigorously supported GMOs.
Jaffe proceeded to make a case for GMOs, “dispelling the myths” prevalent in the anti-GMO community.
This fact alone is highly significant. You have the leading magazine and the leading trade group for the natural products industry giving a heavy wink and nod to GMO foods.
According to the article, Jaffe explained that the process of using bacteria to carry foreign genes into a food plant is really quite natural. Which is like saying that a glass eye is natural.
Then Jaffe presents the tired generality: “Evidence is overwhelming that there is no harm from foods made from current GE [genetic engineered] foods.” As “evidence,” he cites the FDA approval of biotech crops. The FDA— which has basically stated that Monsanto, Dow, and the other mega-giants are responsible for assuring the safety of GMOs.
Notice again, all this cover for GMOs is being presented in a trade magazine vis-a-vis a trade group for the natural food products industry.
So yes, there are certainly players in the natural-foods business who would welcome a) co-existing with Monsanto, b) letting a law pass that would eradicate the possibility of GMO bans or required labels anywhere in the US, and c) use that situation to establish their own voluntary labeling programs (“this product is non-GMO”).
That last step would allow them to create a whole raft of elite food products for affluent customers, thus inflating their $$ bottom lines.
And in the process, with their bright shiny “non GMO” labels, they would essentially downgrade and partially obscure the organic food producers, which is to say the people who grow crops as they were grown for thousands of years, before the pesticide and GMO industries came into being.
Monsanto would win, the natural-food sellers would win, and we would lose.
The final coup de grace? Up the line, a federal regulation stating that the presence of GMOs in food is no deterrent to labeling that food product Organic.
End-game; especially since power players in the natural foods industry would have no objection.
With enemies like these, who needs more enemies?

Thanks for keeping us informed as to the Orwellian nature of these insidious industries. Doesn’t sound too hopeful. Everything good gets infiltrated — or maybe groups like CSPI were never trustworthy to begin with? Whatever the case, I’m glad you pointed out the game that’s likely going to occur. We need to be a step ahead, and this article needs to be read and spread far and wide.
I started growing food for my family about 9 years ago, which was about the time I started waking up to the nightmare that is our reality. Initially, I was concerned about food security, but as time has gone on, it’s more about food quality (avoiding food poisons). If we don’t stop this insanity, they’re going to control the seeds too.
Growing your own food is the only way, and people see that. In my area about 8 years ago only about 20% of people in this entirely rural area had gardens. Now that number is close to 100%. And most have chickens, maybe some goats, and more and more had cows and pigs. And neighbors barter and trade with food all the time. Local law enforcement knows better than to get in the way even while state dept of Ag officials are trying to.
Yup, that’s the solution. Glad to hear it’s becoming commonplace in your neck of the woods; very encouraging.
Whats next?? perhaps sou-lent green……….
“Soul-ent” green….good one. The powers and principalities on all battle fronts of any consequence are the same as those at the beginning of man’s short history on our world. Our reality is much more, much Grander, than most think it to be….

Come on guys! How many “useless eater” (like they call us) is there in the world?
Seven billions.
And we think that a small group of Elite idiots will win over 7 billions of us?
Not a chance!
Let’s organize a worldwide revolution on food safety.
Let’s show these bastards our true power when we unite.
We the real people of this World against these degenerated inbreed Elites.
… and it all began with two ancient Babylonian revelations: The formulas for monetary interest (usury) and understanding that the hearts and minds of men could be bought. Humanity has been on a long and slow downward slide ever since.
Rather than Sou-lent Green coming next, as robinsoncaruso1 suggests, I would bet they will attempt to re-float a product that was introduced in the 70’s and flopped. That technologically advanced food/construction product was called Brown-25, from Uranus Corporation (not believed to be a Monsanto subsidiary):

General Mills was forced to remove the label “100% Natural” from more than 20 of its products, including its Nature Valley snack bars and crispy squares. This is yet more evidence that the food movement is having a much-needed impact, even on mega-corps such as General Mills.

Lets tout the ones who are doing a stand up job, like the Natural Foods Co-ops and the Weston A. Price Foundation, come to mind. Can anyone anyone name some more?
Thanks for the tip.

Jon, sincerely, I could see this backfiring on them badly.
If they brought it in carte blanch, in certain countries (perhaps not America) it would induce major civil unrest; perhaps war. I assume “Global” is the next or prior step.
From the “psychological” point of view, imagine if people could “feel” an immediate difference with their GMO food and that emphasised the difference between the “haves” and the “have nots” (a gap that even the mainstream media “fears”).
Big gamble…….how can they undo what they have done, once in motion?
There is no logic in this war of attrition (labelling)…The banning outright of genetically modified organisms is the only way.
Labelling does not confront ground water poison, it does not approach the corrupting of the human body, there no solace for a balanced eco system that has developed coexistence over eons of time here on the prison planet. And balances on the brink of collapse.
Monsanto genetics are a virus in the system that will eventually cause that collapse of the whole mainframe of life.
That is its purpose, it’s only purpose…regardless of whither you believe it or not.
And anyone who does not see the greater truth, the larger picture, is simply deluding themselves that they actually have power via the corrupted political and judiciary arenas, to change what is inevitable.
And arenas are for those who are trained in sport of the gladiatorial. Are you one of those?
In this game of chess, Maui has shown a possible way through the woods…consolidation of power with other organizations like this… involved in this good fight, across the nation and the world, will prove successful against a federal government which as we speak seeks to disembody local and regional government.
I am not saying success is will be assured, I am saying the truth the greater truth will be revealed, when the US government forces Monsanto on its people and we realize finally we never had any choice.
We are are just the property.
We will eat our ‘soulent green’ and be happy. Instead of empowering ourselves and relearning what has been purposefully lost and taken from us.
To grow our own food and teach those who are ignorant, re-establishes a relationship with nature that is not as it is propagandized as man vs nature, but is a healing nurturing power.
At what point did you come to the conclusion that you could decide what Monsanto produces anyway…
the best to all
Monsanto wants to monopolize the seed industry and produce only seeds called, “Terminator Seeds”. The plants grown from these seeds do not produce living seeds. People need to rise up against this conspiracy, too. Farmers will have much higher seed costs and heirloom seeds will be against the law if Monsanto’s seed control campaign is successful. These Terminator Seeds will also be GMO and the campaign to poison all the “Useless Eaters” on the planet as coined by Prince Charles will hasten the reduction of the over populated world. The Elites are collecting and hoarding natural seeds stowed away in vast secret underground bunkers with guards in unpopulated areas to protect their future food supply when their plan to rid the world “Useless Eaters” succeeds.
Same old strategy, create and fund the opposition, that way you control both sides. This is a battle we can not afford to lose. Spread the word, focus on Maui, the battle is just starting up.
If the foods are not “natural foods” — then they are UNNATURAL foods — and should not be eaten!
