The hypnotic use of color in television news

The hypnotic use of color in television news

Some people would call it simply an effort to please the audience. Well, pleasing the audience during a national news broadcast isn’t the objective, unless ratings and viewer numbers and ad revenues and distraction from facts is actually the plan…and of course it is.

Just now, I forced myself to watch a rebroadcast of Wednesday night’s NBC News with the golden boy, Brian Williams.

But Brian wasn’t golden, he was blue, which happens to be people’s favorite color in multiple surveys. Restful calming blue.

Here is what I saw in the first five minutes. I couldn’t handle more. (I urge you to go to NBC and look for yourself.)

Brian was wearing a blue suit. All the backgrounds for captions were blue. Small screens behind Brian were blue. Brian’s desk panels were blue. The surface of the desk reflected vague blue tints.

The lead story, the CIA torture report, featured blue in the CIA seal. Andrea Mitchell, who was covering the report’s release, was wearing a dark blue outfit. Behind her, the Capitol dome sat in a blue sky. A psychologist named Mitchell, an architect of the torture program, was interviewed. His shirt was partly blue. He was wearing blue jeans. The NBC reporter interviewing him was wearing a light blue shirt. A map of the world appeared onscreen, sitting in a field of blue. Behind Andrea, the background was filled with objects of different blues. Reporter Dana Priest was interviewed for the story. A piece of the background behind her was blue. Michael Hayden was interviewed. He was wearing a blue suit.

I watched the beginning of the next story: the NFL’s new policy on player discipline. Commissioner Roger Goodell stood in front of a blue background. He was wearing a blue suit.

The Matrix Revealed

Again, I emphasize—all this was in the first five minutes of the newscast.

You could say the news itself was merely an occasion for the transmission of blue.

“Let’s have dinner in front of the TV and watch the news. I like the blue.”

“Which channel?”

“NBC. Their blue is better than the CBS blue.”

“You’re right. It makes me feel restful. The CIA torture couldn’t have been that bad. It’s blue. I’m reassured.”

Hey Jon, have you checked out ABC’s new young buck, Greg Muir? He does a really convincing look of “concern.” His look of “reassurance” isn’t bad, but the viewer still gets the point. You can watch the entire show and never have to wonder what sort of emotion to have, he guides you all the way.

I went to Arts school for 4 years, then I studied interior decoration and psycology of colors . I have also worked as an artist doing paintings and also technical drafting for engineers.

    “Restful calming blue”.

I was always tought that “green” was the calming color, restful, soothing.
This is why hospitals are most always painted in light green.

“Let’s have dinner in front of the TV and watch the news. I like the blue.”

In schools, we’ve learned to never paint a kitchen blue, since that color decreases your appetite… only use it if you want to loose weight…lol

So I wonder WHY television uses blue? Is it only because most people like blue?

      “BLUE. Intellectual.
Positive: Intelligence, communication, trust, efficiency, serenity, duty, logic, coolness, reflection, calm.
Negative: Coldness, aloofness, lack of emotion, unfriendliness.

Blue is the colour of the mind and is essentially soothing; it affects us mentally, rather than the physical reaction we have to red. Strong blues will stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft blues will calm the mind and aid concentration. Consequently it is serene and mentally calming. It is the colour of clear communication. Blue objects do not appear to be as close to us as red ones. Time and again in research, blue is the world’s favourite colour. However, it can be perceived as cold, unemotional and unfriendly.” From http://www.colour-affects.co.uk/psychological-properties-of-colours.
There you go, a different opinion. In some ways everything is an opinion, except pain. Unless you’re a doctor or torturer.

NEWS = North, East, West, South (thanks to William Cooper for that)
One of the REAL reasons they use the color blue and it is ubiquitous is that it is the color of the Occult Principality Rege. Notice the color is not straight blue or navy blue. The color name is Royal Blue because the 7 Principalities are Wicked Spirits (royalty to them) operating in the hierarchy under the fallen angel lucifer. When the Principalities manifest and appear in person to the high-level occult, mason, illuminati and witchcraft church members, all six appear in their own color. Blue is Occult. Red is Lust. Are there two more powerful things going on in this world than anti-God witchcraft and Lust? That’s exactly why those were the chosen colors of the American Flag. (united states of Amaruca, the feathered serpent god of south america – but that’s another story) Lucifer operates as the overall leader and has an “army” under him. His prince is Beelzebub and the third member of the wicked trinity of leadership is Typhoan, the spirit of Cain and Murder. Then under them are the six out of seven (because lucifer always uses six and never seven) Principalities. Typically the color scheme order is Blue, Red, Gold, (black and white usually next but not really colors of the rainbow), Light Green, Purple, Orange. Look around at the strip malls, corporate names and advertisements, signs and logos. Red and Blue everywhere. Fox News, ESPN, Progressive Insurance, CNN, etc., etc. Spell-casting is real and Alpha waves, too. Most people have paradigms that are totally false. The world is really not as it seems. All the flashing on TV has to be something wicked.

Im really grateful that you generously give your knowledge out.
Thank you & please keep talking

I still believe that the color green is more relaxing:

Green is associated life growth and life, and is the most restful of colors.

Green reduces central nervous system activity and helps people feel calm.

Green is often used in decorating for its calming effect. For example, guests waiting to appear on television programs often wait in a “green room” to relax.

Green is thought to relieve stress and help heal. Those who have a green work environment experience fewer stomachaches.
        http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/a/color_green.htm

        As for your link:

Green: Green strikes the eye in such a way as to require no adjustment whatever and is, therefore, restful. Being in the centre of the spectrum, it is the colour of balance – a more important concept than many people realise. When the world about us contains plenty of green, this indicates the presence of water, and little danger of famine, so we are reassured by green, on a primitive level.

You’re STILL watching TV?! I can’t even stand to be exposed to it’s hypnotic unnatural sounds and speech patterns for a few seconds; much less look at the blue flickering zooming rapid-fire images!

People: Unplug from TV; radio; cell phones/texting/facbook, and you’ll be amazed how differently you will think after just a few weeks, when you are not being programmed; hypnotized and brainwashed by all that crap!

    • SamAdamsGhost says:

We disconnected the satellite dish quite some time ago. We no longer watch t.v. There was some protests within the family at the time of the disconnect. Now those same individuals have read a ton of books in the meantime, and recommend to their friends that they might want to do the same.
Mention to most Americans that your t.v. Is disconnected & unwatched, and they’ll have a difficult time comprehending it. Suggest they turn off their tv(s) and many of them will turn hostile. Tell them that tv is a tool for brainwashing people & conditioning them for passivity, and they’ll protest. Of course, they’ll offer no evidence or logic to support their position. Excessive tv watching has helped to deaden their capacity to do so.

Hey, thanlks for the book recommendation! It’ll be preaching to the choir (I gave up TV in ’92) but sounds like a great and enjoyable read! I’ll be getting a copy.

Thanks again! (Always enjoy a good book!)

    • Never hurts to go back and refresh yourself on what the current lies are.

But YES, there is more to life outside of TV, and a better way to stay healthy too!

The color BLUE is connected with the throat chacra, so with communication.

B.t.w. did you notice that the light of police/ambulance/… cars all over the world have switched to red/blue during the last decades? RED is the color of the first chacra, connected with the bare necessities of life (food, home, wellbeing,…). Therefore the combination RED/BLUE signals you that someone is commanding you to obey these BASIC NEEDS and to accept those who are pretending to be in charge of these necessities. The gouvernal nanny-colons that almost sound like Neocolons.
    😉

    Talking about PROGRAMMING…

  5. Wrusssr says:

The BBC’s afternoon pre-PBS broadcast uses an undulating slow-mo red (power, redcoats. Get it?) and something that looks like a giant GB flag. A buxomous blonde with a domo glint delivers the propaganda. The U.S. PBS has no background and turns on documented lies and directed history support. POINT: Neither distribute useful formation from which the public can make informed decisions. There is no “news” (print or broadcast) other than what you can find on the ‘Net.

    You go, Jon.

  6. Cowa Bunga says:

Color certainly plays a role in brainwashing the mind. The mass media is in the business of brainwashing minds. Thus they will use color to enhance the effect they are pursuing. Nice catch, Jon.

  7. maybeperfect says:

While is seems that these sorts of things are going on, I must take heart in the possibility that God may be really doing everything and it all might culminate in the accomplishment of His purposes, whatever they might be.
I mean, what’s the sense of being God if you can’t have things the way you want them to be? I seem to be inadequately equipped to stand as judge of His handiwork. Or am I? Might not know. Might not know for sure that I don’t know everything, because that would mean that I know something, which I might not.

  8. Defiant says:

It doesn’t seem odd to me, at all, that a news station would choose to identify with a color they know folks enjoy looking at. I don’t see this as some kind of secret MK Ultra mind control! They’re offering what folks want to buy.

Having said that, I DO think the MSM is a sham. But not because they use the color blue!

  9. And there,

    We enter the “Blue Zone”.

The study of the Psychological Effects of the Colors has long been a fascination of mine. It also has a long history throughout many of the ancient cultures of the world.

In case you may have missed its other significances,

Medium to more of the “Royal” Blues is often used to convey “authority”. So, many of our bureaucrats may wear some items that are more towards the medium Blue colors, as a symbolism of and association with their perceived authority. The TV “news” uses a lot of color-association that symbolises this “aura of authority”. So you might say that their consistent uses of certain colors are for the purposes of not only the calming effects, but also to “convey some sense of authority” on the subject matter.

You may once in a while see a few flashes of Purple. As some may already know, Purple has been consistently used as a chief symbol of royalty, and royal authority.

The ancient Scots recognized Yellows and Golds as colors of authority long before the establishment of English monarchy and their chosen colors of Purple as symbols of their authority.

  10. We all know it’s ‘Propaganda’, but Jon’s report does well to inform us that the visual content affects us sub-consciously. We also might remember the Reagan administration insider who told a liberal broadcaster miffed that his report had little impact that “The public only sees the pictures”.
Then we have to ask ourselves to what degree we are absorbing hidden images BETWEEN the transmitted pictures – there was a book explaining that called “Subliminal Seduction”. At the very least, if we are going to watch the lies of the establishment, we should keep constantly alert to a simple credo: “What is they’re ulterior motive?”
Finally,in the ’70’s a book was published titled “Seven Arguements Against Television” that proposes 2 dimensional screens unhinge our minds from the proper integration of the natural environment, alienating us – so the TV is inherently an enemy of thoughtfulness and awareness …

  11. Kit says:

Jon, I have also tuned into “the blue”. Is there any research tht has been done on the use of the word “that”. Seems like MSN no longer reports on “a” story, but rather it is “that” …. Something far away …

  12. Caroline says:

Thank you for this. It is so difficult to describe the Appropriation of Color. Color is a wonderful teacher and friend. Until it’s not. For example, when manipulator types deploy it in their fabricated battles. This is not a condemnation of blue, it is a wake-up call. Remedy: stop looking at the box, go outside, breathe, and take in the truth: the truth which always and simply surrounds you.

    • Not shutting up says:

“go outside. breathe.” Those things are impossible due to that toxic poison mist those planes keep spraying. Don’t you people notice? Here I am with daily doses of repetitive anaphalaxis and people still think going outside is gonna help them “breathe.” i FACE DEATH DAILY.

  13. I’ve not owned a TV for a long time and the last occasion I had a close up view in a friends hotel room the colour saturation during the news made me nauseous. There’s more to this than just colour I feel.

  14. Big Italy says:

Im 65 year old male – the news today sucks – when I watch, I watch Fox – the other networks are too one sided – especially MSNBC – so I don’t watch – but with Fox – not sure if others do it – any STORY they have, you are lead into it with the appropriate rock n roll song and lead out the same way – that really bothers me and I love rock – it just seems like they are trying to keep you in FRONT THE TV as long as possible – so, I don’t watch as much anymore knowing that – its like a damn SOAP OPERA.

  15. Nick says:

    Jon Rappoport,

While the blue may have a calming, trance-like effect, the intro music is unsettling and almost Wagnerian. The contrast is interesting.
