Why millions of people are watching Yellowstone

15 million people watched Episode 1 of Season 4 of Paramount’s smash-hit cable series, Yellowstone.

This is populism television—a tidal wave out of nowhere.

There are several factors involved. The main one is:

A family is determined to keep its land—the biggest ranch in Montana—against all odds. Against all attempts to take the land by: the state government, a gigantic corporate land developer, an Indian tribe, a psychopathic killer and his hired guns.

The ranching Dutton family will go to any lengths to keep the land.

This suddenly resonates with millions of viewers.

No other television series in history, based on the premise of holding on to private property, has provoked such passion.

What’s going on?

Americans have come to a crossroad and they know it.

The government and its allies want to gobble up private property and end it. This is the inevitable outcome of the Parent State in action. This is also Globalism in action. This is, yes, one of the pillars of Socialism, Communism, and Marxist philosophy—the outlawing of all private property.

The tactics for achieving this goal are many. Outright seizure, crippling property taxes, a welter of regulations making private ownership far more risky and difficult.

Yellowstone pulls no punches. No episode goes by without the producers shoving the issue of private ownership in the faces of viewers.

And viewers respond. They see who the good guys and the bad guys are.

Of course, reviews in the press don’t hammer on this issue of private property incursion and destruction. They acknowledge the popularity of the series, but they don’t try to explain it. Well, they wouldn’t. Because the issue is too hot to handle. Much too hot.

At the end of Season 4, rancher-daughter Beth Dutton schools an idealistic environmentalist on the biggest threat to the Montana environment: the corporate developer, Market Equities, who intends to build a new ugly modern consumerist city for rich tourists on the beautiful landscape—an airport, highways, hotels, casinos, condo complexes, ski resorts, etc.

Market Equities’ notion of private property has no connection to basic family ownership of land. It’s impersonal. It’s a factory operation. It’s a partnership with the state government, a job creator, a tax collector. It’s a non-stop bulldozer. It’s Vegas, brutally injected into eternal hills and valleys.

And along with this “modernization,” Yellowstone also puts front and center the rise of the “modern citizen,” shallow, perky, politically correct, clueless, petty, nasty under the surface, completely cut off from the land and its moral values and traditions. Beth Dutton is the relentless exposer and slayer of this new citizen.

If ever a fictional television series could cross over into real life and spawn a greater resistance to foul, elite, giant destruction of private-ownership, Yellowstone is it.

I can only hope the upcoming Season 5 doesn’t back down an inch from the previous 4.

There’s another thing Yellowstone is doing. It’s highlighting a stark competition and war been one side and another, played out on the land of Montana. Yes, COMPETITION, yet another traditional American value that has been attacked, downplayed, befouled, and accused of being inherently UNFAIR.

Hence, trophies for children who merely participate in sports. “Here, Jimmy, you tried to kick the ball four times last season and missed three times, so accept this plastic statue and know we all love you, and don’t ever bother thinking about who the best athletes on the team are. There is no best.”

Sports put the lie to that. Sports, which more and more people are taught to hate, endure. They’re stark. They’re real. They’re built to decide who wins. The nightly news doesn’t turn sports into a mush of indeterminate he said he said. The scoreboard doesn’t turn 101-87 into a tie.

Even with all the corruption surrounding and infecting sports, they survive. On the field. Where it counts.

Kids learn to deal with it. They find out they can get better if they work harder. There is a ladder of attainment, and they can climb it. Or they can try to fake it and fail. Excuses don’t succeed. Complaining doesn’t succeed.

Parents can console their children after a loss, but if they try to rip the heart out of a sport in order to “save their kids,” the whole proposition backfires. Weakness takes over.

The world can’t be made fair by trying to strip away talent and effort and the desire to achieve and the commitment to work. The world can’t be made fair by trying to submerge these basics. It can only be made into an idiot’s circus and a government overseer-bureau and a peer-pressure reduction of language and a massive toleration of stupidity.

In a society where the Glob and the Group and the Know-Nothing and the Pussified and the Obedient Little Fascist are promoted as The Good, the ultimate resistance comes from The Individual.

That’s what I’m speaking of and writing to.

Kind of a Yellowstone People’s Caldera, erupting and sending the ashes of authoritarianism aloft, causing a nuclear winter that stunts the growth of the state, and sends out titanic gushing outflows of molten opposition which then solidifies into a new world order that is truly of, by, and for the people ?

  2. Budro says:

One aspect of Yellowstone not spoken of much is the incessant Profanity throughout the show. I grew up in Pool Halls and Honkytonks, and never heard the F*** word spoken as much as you might hear in an episode of Yellowstone. I don’t believe it adds to the show at all. It gets old.

“A family is determined to keep its land… against all attempts to take the land by: the state government, a gigantic corporate land developer, an Indian tribe, a psychopathic killer and his hired guns.”

True Americans are determined to keep Our Country. Got that, Vultures and Hirelings for money? OUR Country. Not yours. Not your private possession staffed with lots of quiet Eaters who have greater purpose than to be your slaves and who just want to live their lives in peace. Determined to keep Our Country against all attempts to steal it away.

“The ranching Dutton family will go to any lengths to keep the land.”

True Americans will go to any lengths to keep Our Land. But… are there enough left to make stand? Enough to make a difference?

“Americans have come to a crossroad and they know it.”

SOME American know it. Others don’t even know where They are, who They are, and that a Battle for the Ages is going on right now. Ignorant bliss that will inevitably do Them in.

“The government and its allies want to gobble up private property and end it.”

The government and its allies want to end private ANYTHING. All things become property of The State… including YOU. You will ‘own nothing… and’ HATE IT. And too late for many to do anything about it. They’re already Commie Red, both inside and out. Waving the Ukraine flag and hating the American flag and kissing the hind quarters of That Huge Asian Power That Wants To Take Over The World. ‘Resistance is Futile’, right New World Order Borgs?

“Sports, which more and more people are taught to hate, endure. They’re stark. They’re real. They’re built to decide who wins.”

They hate sports because it is a true Meritocracy. You win or loss due to your skill, effort, and cunning. You don’t get a winning trophy just for showing up and breathing.

“Parents can console their children after a loss..”

Parents do too much consoling and hand-holding and ‘kissing the ouch-ee’. Not enough leading and inspiring and holding kids to a higher standard. Wimpy parents raising kids that are even weaker than the parents are. The race to the bottom.

“In a society where the Glob and the Group and the Know-Nothing and the Pussified and the Obedient Little Fascist are promoted as The Good, the ultimate resistance comes from The Individual.”

In a society where Evil becomes the Good and Deviancy becomes the Normal and Weakness becomes Strength and Ignorance becomes Being Smart and Fitting In becomes the highest goal of a person’s life… the only hope left is the Individual. That’s why Individuals are hated today and wear a huge bull-eye target on their backs.

But to have and live a life of true purpose and meaning… you can’t be any other way. Wear that bulls-eye on your back like a badge of honor.

Resistance is NOT futile. Giving up is surrender.

When you meet Your Personal Life Devil at your own personal Crossroads and He comes calling to collect your soul… tell Him to go suck on a bag of lemons… if there are any left from yesterday’s giving them to your doctor.

The everyone gets a trophy crowd=women

I lived it. When our kid was playing little league and the trophies were passed out I asked “why? We didn’t win anything.” and I was verbally assaulted by the women (including the future ex).

Also, women want security, men want liberty.

The original iteration of the Republic featured the vote being restricted to male landowners, to protect private property. It’s been all downhill from there…

    • Lyn P says:

Perhaps overall more true than not, but some women exist who value principles of freedom, merit and integrity, and scoff at the “men” in masks who meekly flow with the agenda…thus realizing a good deal of that gender is done.

  6. Karen Iacovelli says:

Jon, a truly great post. As for a comment about the frequent use of the “f” word, it rhythms with “schmuck”—as in Schwab schmuck. It reflects the anger of many Americans. If this WEF/WHO treaty is passed by the psychopaths in congress, there will be hell to pay.

  7. Cela says:

    You wrote:

“This is also Globalism in action. This is, yes, one of the pillars of Socialism, Communism, and Marxist philosophy—the outlawing of all private property.”

This all springs from Talmudic philosophy.

  8. george says:

Without property right, there is no freedom. Unfortunately, there are no more countries with private property rights.

Some would say that Constitution.. Law… Bullshit!

That was overturned with property tax, inheritance tax.. You are only renting it from the state. it is not yours.

In fact any tax is anti constitution. It is theft.

    • Jello says:

Absolutely!!!! Thank you for posting this. Too many Americans, including supposedly ‘liberty-loving’, don’t want to consider this. Whenever it’s brought up, they get that “deer in the headlights” look OR conversation shuts down. Income taxes is another BIG one they don’t want to discuss.

  9. A Elliott says:

Something else monumental about the series that needs to be said outloud is the complete absence of faggotry.

We are all sick of the pedophiles and queers trying to force us to validate their diseases by contaminating every Hollyweird production with disgusting displays of freakyness.

Will the predators and idiots figure out that THIS is the golden formula? Nope. They are moral retards militantly pushing an agenda, completely out of touch with normal people. Even Disney is getting the hint.

  10. Ed says:

Yellowstone season 4 was delayed by a year, thanks to the covidcon. Has anyone noticed how Sheridan keeps putting forth a white supremacist militia as the ultimate evil? When it was obvious that the developers were the ones assaulting the Duttons in the finale of season 3, the script gets flipped for season 4 by making the militia the killers.

Fans should face the fact that the series creator is a libtard. In season 1, a methlab on the Rez that exploded had a Confederate flag flying over it. Racism is the ultimate sin. Taylor Sheridan is easy to get tired of.

  11. miker says:

More awesomeness from the resident creative minds who share freely to others the spiritual blessings of the truth…thank you Jon and all!
