The US Ministry of Information holds a hearing on the proposed Federal School Curriculum.

Ministry Chairwoman Amanda Skell interviews Karen Blessing, Commander of the People’s Attack Force.

…So your position is, the subject of reading should be eliminated at all levels of education, Commander?

Reading is racist and statist. Reading is history. History is a delusion. There is only the present and the future.

What about words?

They are acceptable as oral communication, but not in written form.

So all education should be spoken?

Correct. A handed down tradition through word of mouth.

Isn’t that history?

No. History is written.

What about books?

Irrelevant.

How so?

When no one can read, books will wither away.

Just to be clear, you’re saying the elimination of reading is a positive step.

It’s revolutionary.

Do you personally own books?

Yes.

Do you read them?

I do.

Why?

I’m immune to their spell. I study books to understand how they have corrupted society. It’s part of my work.

You’re a linguist.

I have to be.

What will education consist of, if books are not part of it?

Teacher instruction. Prayers, chants, ceremonies, pledges, bonding, de-conditioning, gender declassification and equality, the erasure of racism and privilege. Above all—deletion of the written word from the mind. Don’t read. Watch a video.

Video above reading?

Of course. See and hear the speaker. “You must watch this video.”

Sounds like a battle cry.

It is. Learn from the teacher. When the teacher isn’t there, watch a video. Let it flow over you. Don’t pause it.

Why not?

Because the details are unimportant. What counts is the overall impression. If a person, a student tries to remember details, research shows she tends to revert back to the written word.

It’s better not to remember?

You remember your impression. That’s all. You say to you friends, “This video is very important. Watch it.”

And if your friends ask what is in the video?

Say, “I don’t remember everything, just watch it.”

And this would be a positive development?

Absolutely. When you have ten million people who can only remember their overall impressions, you have a force for the good.

The desire for details…

Takes you back into the written word. Details are a weapon used by the enemy. They distract from the big picture.

And if a student wants to read?

Investigate. Find out where and how that desire arose.

Who investigates?

Education is a government program. So the government investigates.

Should the new curriculum contain anti-reading courses?

Courses, chants, pledges, and so on.

I’m trying to picture the effects a non-reading society will have on business and commerce.

What was once reading becomes a series of functions carried out by Artificial Intelligence.

And what about the people who devise the AI and the algorithms? Do they read?

The day will come when AI creates all new AI. Until then, yes, there will be these technicians who read. Naturally, they will be screened periodically for loyalty.

Loyalty to what?

To the flow.

Excuse me?

Loyalty to the flow of oral knowledge. Spoken truth.

Were there any statistics you wanted to present today?

Statistics are relatively unimportant. But here are two. Every day, across the world, people watch eight billion videos. They read thirty thousand books.

How many of those videos are viewed from start to finish?

Roughly one out of ten thousand.

And how many of those books are read all the way through?

The current estimate is a third of one percent.

What should the government do with its many archives of written material?

Ideally, burn them for fuel, which is in short supply. But that is impractical. We have a list of requirements for those who would obtain a license to access those archives.

A written list of requirements?

It is presented as a video.

A personal question. Do you own stock in any company involved with video production, distribution, or manufacture of video components?

No. I’m a board member of BILLGATES.

What?

It’s an acronym for Better Information for Little Learners in the Great Alliance of Total Education Systems. It’s a non-profit foundation that produces Internet video instruction for schools.

I understand the foundation has trademarked “You must watch this video,” and “Watch this now.”

Yes.

A newspaper columnist has called the foundation the KKK of book burning.

The Attorney General is investigating him. Apparently, he makes pipe bombs in his basement.

You have evidence for that claim?

I have a video which makes the claim. You must watch it. If you’re pressed for time, go to the 5:43 mark and continue to 6:58.

What does it say?

I don’t recall precisely. Just watch it.

      Dear Opie,

So this decent guy dies & goes to Heaven.

While in the waiting room, he’s thinkin’ “Man am I gonna have a meal!”

God comes out with 2 baloney sandwiches on starchy white bread.

The guy says to God, “Look, I don’t wanna complain, but…? baloney sandwiches???

God replies, “Yeah, it’s hard cookin’ for two.”

BRILLIANT ! Have we not been ‘drifting’ in this diection for quite some time ? methinks beginning w/a VCR in every home and walk in video rental stores in every community… now replaced w/online “streaming” (why leave your cell!?) i.e., “Loyalty… To the flow.” …brilliant piece, sir. Thank you !

Like “Fahrenheit 451”: ALL books were banned and burned.

William Shakespeare actually had to do this in his time. His actors fully embodied his plays, word-for-word. Memorized, nothing printed to keep his works free of theft and plagerism. He saved the English language from French persecution, and helped to add 25000 words to the English language, giving birth to the most dimensionally stable and speakable language to-date of higher states consciousness, knowledge, and learning.

      • Stephen says:

Indeed, Edward De Vere, the Earl of Oxford, writing under the name of William Shakespeare, was the greatest genious of the English Language.

Which is exactly why he has been deemed a “threat” to young student sensibilities, and will be stricken from Common Core. Besides, long words is racist. Funny thing: I’m noticing Internet Spellcheck is starting to not recognise some high school and college vocabulary. Clever and careful dumbing down society by removing certain words which express “unwanted” ideas.

  6. Karen, again? Seems it became a cliche in the future, that to bad, for all the girls named Karen.
I have a friend named Karen, she very upset that this is taking on a life of its own.

Now you have succeeded in fomenting it until it will become rock the name Karen as a what? My friend says “Thank you”.

Are you happy that Jon is used as a generic individual that goes to prostitutes, is that true, I should say not…is it?

Personally I think Ms Blessing has a point. Most people only read what supports their world view, or subscribe themselves to obviously, some form of partisan view. Or now in this modern world, intersectional viewpoint, as gender and race need to be inclusive in that writers words.

For instance you have a specific timbre to you voice, its sardonic and condescending many times, and most times generally mocking.

It that a nice thing to be?…many people have books on their shelves but they are there for a sort of decoration. They never read the fucking things Jon!

Books have outlived there time Jon — reading? Any fool can write a book.

Now audible, that’s the way…listening instead of reading. And listening is important and most do not know truly how to listen, they interrupt without hearing the full measure of the speaker’s point and inflection in a voice is much more definitive in the explanation that the cold hard word — which has no feeling. It sits there like a cold fish dinner after an hour too many at the bar.

History and science is a consorted lie agreed upon by those that write that shit.
There are even National institutions dedicated to how those subjects should be written. And is history as its written any more than a consortium, agreeing of layering upon layer of lies upon the writings of ancient liars.

As one great historian has quoted, “History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.” ― Winston S. Churchill.

The great libraries of the past have burned; Alexandria was consumed into feathered grey ashes, did it hurt us?

    No!

It helped, all book writing was dominated by the Latins, the Greeks and the Romans and a few crazy Egyptians.
Now look at it, the field has opened up, even Ozzy Osbourne has written a book. Book burnings helped, do you know how many books we would have if none were burned? The whole world would be neck deep in blatherings of fools.

For god’s sakes Carrot Top has written a book on face lifts and pectoral implants and getting more baggage in the bootie. Well actually he had a writer, write it for him, but that does not take away from my point…why read?

Carrot Top’s book is worth a read, wouldn’t ya say?…

    • martin says:

Good to see the monsters getting desperate, made my day reading your post.Winston churchill ?, no surprise you quote him, like you a drunken fool, the bar has been set low, no pun intended, wouldn’t thee say. cheers Jon keep doing.

    • Padraigin Eagle says:

Michael gets Burnt aka the blathering of a fool: Karen, as per instruction, I don’t read. Can you please press lights, cameras, action, voiceover so that I watch while going with the flow?

And about ‘those fucking things’. Any idea how I can make voice contact? Asking for a Karen friend.

      • “There’s my proof, two thirds of the three stooges, one a fake Irishman and the other named after a wee bird no bigger than a tit, knows nothing, after how long, how many years of reading, martin?”

You have the sense of humor of a squashed grape.

        “…like you a drunken fool…”
        And you know this HOW?

I don’t drink, I don’t like it. I never have, really I can’t see the point, but keep blathering and keep reading what ever it is that keeps you this ignorant.

        • Padraigin Eagle says:

lowercase michael, why art thou reading and writing (and getting triggered in the process, one might say burnt, as in michael, or should we say, karen); surely, shirley, it’s all flow as you go, with butthurt in the undertow, but you never know, michael aka karen aka never drunk but still blathering, you could one day be the next michael obama, just as soon as your gender reassignment is complete. Hmm. You were saying.

          • Aw ya fuckin gobshite. Speaking of gender reassignment. Did yer mammy call you padraigin, ya wank.

Ya might explain to all the rest here, that wouldn’t know what padraigin really means. Its the feminized version of “what Irish name”, ‘wee paddy’.

And you call all that blather of yours, without intoxication.

A padraigin can’t be eagle , its a duck for fuck sake, and a wee duck at that…yer were sayin wee paddy?

        • Padraigin Eagle says:

Ah, michael obama’s concubine is massively triggered, butthurt doesn’t get close, butt (sic) then that’s how lower case burns loves it, a tail gunner born to be rear-ended, and by writing and reading deliriously offended, claiming that the rumours of him being a limp-wristed tosser are ‘all just pretended’, his safe space now vigorously defended, on his knees, begging please, ‘snowflakes are humans too’.

  7. Paul says:

    Hmm…
    “Let’s eliminate reading.”

    Wow.
Sounds like some weird sort-of New Age Tower of Babel.

“Let us go down & rid them of written words. Murder the writers & burn the scribes…That’ll show ’em.”

  8. Siouxma says:

Before this happens de facto or de juris, contemplate the word DECARCERATION that we now see bandied about by SJW lawyers, doctors & certain Politicians…imagine how something so illogical and dangerous can be used in the End Game of Covid Lockdown & Deniers/Decliners of the Jab.

  9. Will says:

    Watch the video.

How I love those forty minute health supplement promotions that hope to bore you into buying a pig in a poke.
Something you could read about in two minutes.

And let’s not forget the eminent Alex Jones, who no longer writes anything, and lost his entire educated reading audience by loving the sound of his own voice. For hours on end.

  10. Bert33 says:

Having a bunch of half-naked ship-throwing cannibals is definitely better. Civilization was SUCH a drag, man…

  11. Marten says:

Ignorance can be bliss, except for those blinded by the “program” behind their eyes, who cannot see what is in front of their eyes !!!!

  12. Greg C. says:

“The Medium is the Massage,” McLuhan wrote. The old and tedious way of manually changing one’s perception of the world through reading, thinking, discussing, arguing, is being done away with. It’s no coincidence that argument and discussion is being eliminated from the big media platforms. Fully automatic is the new way.

  13. Jim S Smith says:

    Well,

“They” have already practically eliminated science, mathematics, philosophy, (as Jon stated also) logic, and a whole plethora of other disciplines. So why not “reading and comprehension” too? ? ?

“Ignorance” is another powerful weapon, in the hands of tyrants!

  14. eceres says:

If there was an article to start on as base of things, think this would be subject, since communicating is life. The words we use, we don’t ask who made or makes them. Letters, words, sentences. Forms of communicating changed over time obviously, from marks and symbols, including to different various use now. So who all did this, over time, and who’s doing it now, and dictates definition. There have been gangs, groups who do things, and can say so-called govt and media and their schools also part, and now dictating what’s said or not, using words. Who and why. They and million websites, those that only half inform or distract from truth. Many things I think are nonsense.

For instance one that bugs me ph instead of f. There’s no reason, such as ph ‘psychology’ etc to make seem ‘soft’ same time set apart, so agendists go to false schools then have weird word to make seem ‘authority’. Why not sychologee. Another is stealing words to mean other things. The word star use to only mean lights in night sky, then last hundred years agendists made ‘tv and movies’ then labeled those people ‘stars’. Put on lights and shiny clothes, then stole word that was nature. Then also put on porno ‘stars’. People are not stars. There’s other type things, just don’t like ph, or stealing from nature. Said before and mention again I don’t comment because nothing else to do, but to share, so if something reasonates can copy few bits, whatever, suggest paper pen, not copy paste. If picking only few for me would be first questions. Took long time to think about, always something wierd even as a kid reading books.

Though also say what language we have, the few good of it, why burn books, like Jon says. Why eliminate things. Ability to speak is core of life. I think some people take much for granted, don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone, so the song goes.

    • eceres says:

Well that was something of a mess up, had one example in mind on letters / sound, but confused in another. Though, then again rather than explain will let others think about it for selves, maybe extra something there.
      Commenting while tired.

      e.

    • john says:

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

Why not sikology or make up anything you like.
      Reduce language to fonetiks (sic).
It makes sense to agree on something.
      Why not ‘psychology’.
It also shows connections to psychic, psychosis etc.
It’s derived from Greek ‘psychikos’ meaning
      ‘of the mind’.
      As for ‘stars’ they shine.
Metaphors enrich the language and aid comprehension.
Language from langue French for tongue.

    • eceres says:

-hi john, Though question remains, who agreed, why, though also doesn’t matter what others or agendists agreed, what matters is I don’t agree with ps instead of simply s, psychic instead of sykic or siekec. In claiming derived from Greek, various agendists have been steering things a long time, including later Greece. When you refer to Greek the time span of region is not short but long time spans, and of different peoples, not only one period of time. It’s a mistake people make, because schools made by who, only refer to ‘ancient greece’ as if the region record was only one point in time or set of people. Note on song, also example of how words can be used, good message, though dimmed word to slightly dial back, of course you don’t put up a parking lot, you put down a parking lot.
On claiming fonetics as –reduced, a better description would be succinctly directed. Something you chop because it’s nonsense may be technically reducing, but it’s also reducing nonsense. We can’t learn if we’re busy repeating what others pushed on us, people have ability to do, undo, and create. Though, if people don’t bother, we will have to wear masks and be in jail then we lose choice. That’s why asking questions or creating, matters. Last, the only thing good about french is cheese. Otherwise a language that has you talking through your nose is derelict. And it’s ok to disagree. We don’t argue enough, arguing is good. So is french cheese, except the really pungent stuff.

      • eceres says:

-forgot, beside cheese also the yellow vests and anarchists some good frenchies, not all just some. They can talk through nose french accent language, which changes to cool because they have substanc. So I take back part of derelict french language, for anarchs only.
What if everyone corrected themselves, made argument, corrected where should, what sort of world would be ?

      • john says:

But if we change things just for short term
convenience we lose continuity with writing from
        the past.
I think English spelling wasn’t really
formulated until sometime in the 19th century.
Do you remember the Initial Teaching Alphabet
that was supposed to make it easier to learn
to read. The problem was you had to unlearn it
to be able to read proper books.

Language is also used as a weapon by elites and
tyrants. People persecuted for translating the
        bible into English.
Scottish, Irish, Welsh school children forbidden
        to use their native language.

BTW you build UP a parking lot if it’s a multi-
story which I always assumed the song meant.

      • eceres says:

Didn’t suggest change short term, if something’s wrong whether letters or words or other should be changed, losing continuity lwith something wrong isn’t really relevant when the change is for something that isn’t wrong. Wouldn’t have to be a lot, just some would be good. First post above, example. The note on bible thing, another time severe agendas as gangs cabalists whatever didn’t want anyone but themselves with letters symbols and other they wrote, so people didn’t make own symbols to communicate. Same as gangs and govt doing now, done before. Of course that wasn’t the only writing then there were other writings, asiatics etc.

There is some good language, interesting words, just some things should go. So on pavement have to note you don’t build up a parking lot, it’s poured down, also don’t layer or problem with separation in temp contract expand. If repair have to seriously etch first. I think you mixed contruction with paving. Another thought may want to jot down to think about, the word building, cross-applied, action word same time noun, static, structure, so people wrongly conflate positive inference of actio, with something that’s actually negative, more houses, apartments roads etc, this territory is overpopulated, nearly forty percent of food comes from other countries now, didn’t use to be that way. Could say you’re building a garden but not really. Good arguing with you though. Still appreciate the song, which more would have got it.

  15. Benton says:

As a kid I used to like the old animal books, or western types. Once school got demanding making you read volumes, found it was hard to read outside of that. Myself when I finally had more time ended up reading about health, and expanded thinking, Carlos Casteneda, Road Less Traveled, others.

Always found about half of a book was good, and the other half somehow off. Maybe it’s a requirement no book can be too good or something, lol.
Do agree with Jon it’s important to have books, or the books we think worth having, and question why some people are so bent about what books or articles people read. Strange.

  16. john says:

    Another thought about books.
If you tell someone that you read something in a book,
they tend to take you more seriously than if you say,
you read it on the internet.

The propaganda against any wisdom or information ‘online’
    has been very successful.

One of the primary reasons I dislike e-books is the simple fact that should everything go “dark” then everything is lost. So, no, i’ll stick to the old tried and true and pray that my children and grandchildren will have physical books for a physical world.
