Bill Gates, Google’s Brin fund lab-grown meat for the masses

Wikipedia: “In 1998 Jon F. Vein of the United States filed for, and ultimately secured, a patent (US 6,835,390 B1) for the production of tissue engineered meat for human consumption, wherein muscle and fat cells would be grown in an integrated fashion to create food products such as beef, poultry and fish.”

Step right up and try a delicious burger grown from animal cells in a lab. What could go wrong?

True, there’s no fat in it, and the cells were grown in sketchy fetal bovine serum, and certain, ahem, “growth factors” may have been added, but don’t worry. Slather on the mustard and mayo, close your eyes, and munch.

Rest secure in the knowledge that Bill Gates and Google “don’t- be-evil” co-founder, Sergey Brin, are pumping money into the ongoing research. Brin Burger. Bill Burger.

Food giant Cargill and Bill Gates are collaborating. Brin gave money to a Dutch scientist, Mark Post, to produce a burger manufactured from cow stem cells. And various research labs around the world are experimenting with different ways of “making meat.”

The medium in which the animal cells are grown is fetal bovine serum; so the possibility of various infectious agents getting into the mix is quite real.

If this frankenfood miracle comes to pass, a whole sector of traditional animal farming would eventually shrink and be phased out; but at the same time, the amount of energy and the cost of creating meat in factories in huge vats would be considerable.

Because meat without fat doesn’t have much taste (or a full nutritional profile), fat would have to be added. How? From what source? That problem hasn’t been solved yet.

And of course, if manufactured meat took hold, the producers would have an ideal opportunity to add elements “for our own good.”

“People should have edible vaccines in their food, don’t you think? It would be so much easier than getting a shot…”

Then, imagine something like this: “Fake But Real Meat Inc. announced that six hundred vats of growing pork in its Malaysian factory are contaminated with numerous bacteria and viruses, plus fungi. A temporary power outage may have been to blame. It’s estimated that 40 million pork burgers are loose in thirteen countries. A recall has been issued, but ‘the pig is already out of the pen’.”

If you read the technical literature on this lab-meat movement, you’ll notice one thing is missing: in-depth programs for studying the long-term human health effects. Oops.

“Meat is meat is meat. Who cares where it comes from or who designed it?”

How about the mineral content of lab-meat? What manufacturer will really care about that?

How about the unpredicted consequences of adding fat after the production of the meat itself? How will that work?

How many, and which, chemicals will be added to the vats of growing meat, in order to “keep it safe?”

“Say, Bob, I think we need to put a few hundred more gallons of chlorine into Vat 7 today. Did you catch the smell over there?”

But don’t worry, be happy. It’ll all work out.

Only a few lone meat manufacturers will come up with the idea of making deals with crematoria to divert human corpses to their factories…

Well then, people who want to eat flesh can have it, without causing an environment of horror, pain, terror, and suffering to the other animals on the planet.

As it is now, most flesh food that is available to the masses come from animals who are fed (as fillers) newspapers, cement, fecal droppings from other animals, and often flesh being fed to vegetarian species, even from their own species, making them into cannibals. They are also injected with hormones, antibiotics, and vaccines. It doesn’t sound like a better situation than is being proposed now, especially when you throw in the glass walls to observe how your sentient ‘food’ gets to your plate.

And, I’m sure that as much as I know about it, that it’s still probably only the tip of the iceberg.

Ok, I’ll be the first to say it – Soylent Green!
Human corpses? That could lead to prion diseases – an effective population reducer.

There actually was a start-up company named ‘Soylent’ producing faux food. Haven’t checked on their status lately, but recall their products weren’t too well received and did sicken people. A number of years ago, a different company was launching an edible ‘meat’ product lab-grown to include the donated muscle cells of your favorite Hollywood star or sports idol. LOL Needless to say, nothing more to be found on that ‘hot’ idea. Public endangerment concealed as ‘innovation’ appears to be the new norm for the mere mortals attempting to take the place of God or Source.

i have no doubt that they have been feeding us each other for some time. animals first, then us. aborted fetuses in pepsi was a concern some time ago – have to wonder how far they have come since then. i have read several stories about how china likes to do fun things with body parts and fetuses. only china-free supplements for me, thank you.

That is a horrifying picture you’re painting, but I can see it all too clearly. And that’s only because our food is already polluted that we can project a future of how the frankenmeat will be treated. One day our children will be telling their children that meat used to come from animals. Their children will recoil in horror and respond with comments about how unsafe that must have been and how cruel for animals (which by then will be protected and considered illegal to raise for food).

Soylent green on the black market . . . who saw that coming?

  5. don wleklinski says:

…….if we’re not consuming humans already.

    • Sue says:

Well, many ARE having human cells ( ingredients of vaccines from aborted babies) injected into them. And just like the other animals are vivisected, that abomination always progresses to vivisecting people. Baby Fae was the most public display of it (trying to convince the public that it is a “good thing”).

Looks like another good reason to be vegan. I know I sure have greatly improved health since I took the plunge 5 years ago.

Another horror story ‘to feed the world’…..

  8. JB says:

Not Soylent Green, which is reconstituted dead human flesh. This stuff is more generic using Stem cells. Of course gene splicing, a la GMO is the next step for maximizing profits while simultaneously maximizing horrible diseases to “treat.”

  9. Theodore says:

No in-depth programs for studying the long-term human health effects of USDA/FDA-approved lab grown meat.

Future feature: ‘food’ as a ‘platform’ for drug/vaccine delivery

  10. Jana D. says:

Bill, feed your kids and family with it first. Vaccinate yourself and your family first. You already are breathing poison from geoengineering. I’ve seen the chemtrails over your palace. If you want to do it to others, including killing them, you first, YOU first.

“Progressives” and their naked and continued embrace of Eugenics. Now openly applied as another “solution”. The Reese Commission needs to re-emerge and audit/limit these fake “charities” or as euphemistically referred to as “Foundations”. Read—Tax avoidance and billionaire Hobby Horses. These are very dangerous individuals. retro-active investigations and taxation needs to be applied here. These are the real modern day Nazi’s. Enough is enough.

  12. Dan says:

The use of Fetal Bovine Serum sorta nullifies the eco friendlyness of synthetic meat. Gates Foundation is motivated by a Soylent Green Eugenics mentality here rather than animal rights or environmental concerns.

    • Sue says:

I think most of us know that. But for those who are only concerned with how it affects the big “ME,” clarification is sometimes required to show that the current state of affairs is certainly no better.

Soylent Green coming soon to factories & labs near you. God must be laughing His ass off…

Clearly FCS (fetal calf serum), a typical additive for in vitro cell culture, is not viable for large scale commercial production. FCS has growth factors and hormones, (and other things) and for large commercial production, artificial growth factors and hormones would have to be used.

Also, some kind of cell type with unlimited replicative potential would have to be used. Stem cells? Some other type of immortal cell? Most animal cells have limited replicative potential, not suitable for large scale commercial production. Stem cells then some differentiation factor? Some other immortalized cell type (read cancer cells)? And it means feeding the cells with nutrients, including amino acids, and the conversion ratio will be less than 100%, considerably less than 100%, into the proteins in the growing cells. And so this is a non-sense idea. Let’s waste some nutrients (food) to produce less food than starting with. So what are they really up to????

  15. dcinfowarrior says:

It’s a well known fact that pro-“lab grown meat” vegan groups such as PETA are secretly bankrolled by Monsanto and Rockefeller, the kings of the GMO mountain.

Years ago, vegans warned about the possible dangers of GMOs. Now, most vegans embrace GMOs and accuse GMO skeptics of being pawns of the meat industry.

The animal rights movement has been taken over by Monsanto.

Maybe Bill Gates is no longer the wealthiest person in the world, he is the richest in the hearts of millions who are now leading a life filled with hope, thanks to his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. If we start saying about his donations it would be a big list, Here are some 12 biggest Bill Gates donations […]
